- INV3Ntv, on 11/13/2009, -0/+42Is there ever a good time to fall off your horse onto a cactus?
- Alfarin, on 11/13/2009, -0/+41Oh doctor I need help... When I read the title, I immediately thought of something NSFW...
- Fanrir, on 11/13/2009, -0/+38If there is a bomb strapped to your horse.

YEAHHHHHHH!!!!! - conna, on 11/13/2009, -0/+28That type of cactus (cholla) is a pain. If you brush against it, those pieces pull off and stick to you. The slang for that type is called "jumping cactus". The thorns get in really deep and hurt like a MF.
- rotundo, on 11/13/2009, -1/+26So I'm not a girl, and I don't have a pic of the injury itself -- but I walked into a cactus once and it was the most intense physical pain I've experienced. And this is coming from a guy who once spiral fractured his humerus in an arm wrestling match.
Yeah: i walked into a cactus -- and the resulting pain of about one hundred needles being stuck in my left side from ankle to shoulder was so severe that for a split second I honestly thought that a bomb or something had just gone off beside me and blown my flesh off. I had just never experienced that much hurt over such a large area of my body before. I must have jumped several feet up and to the side, flailing around. This happened in a parking lot -- the cactus was in the landscaping between rows of cars at the DMV in Henderson NV -- but I don't think anyone saw me. At least, nobody laughed or screamed or anything. When I saw all the needles sticking out of me, I figured out that it was not a bomb.
The intense part of the pain was very brief, and so I began the process of plucking out the needles. They were barbed because they took some serious pressure to rip out, and that part hurt like plucking nose hairs. I think I said "*****" at least once for each needle. After about 10 minutes of plucking, I had them all out save for a few barbs that broke off and remained under my skin for weeks.
I went in and got my license picture taken. This was the best smile I could manage:

Not too bad. Anyway, my sympathies to the girl in the article. Those cactus things can ***** you up! - chuckduck, on 11/13/2009, -0/+25I'm glad that you pointed that out.
- AntiMrBabyman, on 11/13/2009, -0/+24I think if she was riding bareback *wink wink* through a cactus filled countryside, she already has a problem.

- benroy, on 11/13/2009, -0/+22Looks like the cactus won.
- the8thbit, on 11/13/2009, -0/+20Poor horse. :(
- PlasticHotDog, on 11/13/2009, -0/+16For those who haven't had the pleasure of being pricked by a jumping cholla, they are quite possibly the most hostile, painful cactus there is.
- MacGyver2210, on 11/13/2009, -0/+16The Cholla will actually 'shoot' the needles out if you contact them. So even if you don't hit them hard enough to stick yourself, it might stick anyhow.
- Tripacer9999, on 11/13/2009, -0/+151 girl 20 cacti
- MasonZombie, on 11/13/2009, -0/+14Raian didn't really stick to the pattern.
- gtluke, on 11/13/2009, -1/+15Listen, that's not normal cactus, that's Cholla cactus. It's probably the most painful non-animal related ***** person can suffer while in the wild. Each needle is the size of a huge sewing needle, and they are micro barbed. My buddy hit one with his hand while biking out in AZ last summer, I spent a good 1/2 hour with pliers trying to pull those things out of his hand. He was shaking in pain. I got one in my leg later on and it sucked balls. The barbed effect is unreal. They are like welded into your body.
- iknockindeboots, on 11/13/2009, -0/+13This is so tacky.....

- Caergrim, on 11/13/2009, -0/+9All things considered, if getting nailed by a cactus can get a relatively decent driver's license photo like yours, it might be worth it.
- soil, on 11/13/2009, -0/+9Seriously. She got the point already.
- danwallace, on 11/13/2009, -0/+9She's still alive... The cactus probably isn't.
