  • kindwarrior, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4I think it has the same appeal as phone sex: The anonymity is only part of it; The other part is self-delusion: Someone you don't see, you can't experience directly but with responses can be made in your imagination into all you believe you desire. I've been guilty of online flirtation, but never liked the "cyber-sex" concept. However, I think they both have a masturbatory element: The other person isn't so much real to you as they are a foil for your own romantic (in the first case) and/or erotic (in the second case) fantasies. Thus, while I know it's consensual and I wouldn't outlaw it, I don't think it's healthy -- it is subtly dehumanizing.
