- laughtears, on 01/05/2009, -1/+9can this guy explain who gets the blue preferential handicap parking permits?
- Barackalypse, on 01/05/2009, -1/+8Hurray for unfunded Government mandates and the people who use those laws to harass their fellow citizens. The ADA law should have had a grandfather clause for all non-essential private organizations. I hope someone burned by this guy hires a private investigator and a forensic accountant and is able to nail him on some minor infraction, like not sorting his recyclables or failing to properly report his income.

- granolajoe, on 01/05/2009, -1/+4Let's just hope that this dude and Roy Pearson (Judge Fancy Pants) don't ever meet.
- Frankyfan3, on 01/05/2009, -1/+4I used to hang out with a friend that was blind, and because she was blind, and she got a handicapped placard.
She was otherwise healthy & functional, but when I drove us around, we got the good parking spaces right up front.
I still feel like I was overstepping the true intention of the placards.
(even though I feel there are usually WAY more reserved spots than there needs to be in any given parking lot) - granolajoe, on 01/05/2009, -1/+4I'm at a loss as to how you assumed it was a human interest story. The headlines and leads clearly indicate that they cause trouble.
- RockStories, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2I'm a former consumer attorney--all for fighting for people's rights when and where it matters, but this guy sounds like he's manufacturing issues. Maybe if his energy (and that of the people he sues) weren't diverted by litigating how high the paper towel dispenser is, things that would really make a difference would get done.
- laonline, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3I love the tiny parking lots with 3 spots, with one reserved for the handicapped.
- granolajoe, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3I think LA Times copy editors are better at determining headlines than yourself. Check the front of the site.

The titles are catchy and did interest me enough to read the article in the first place. After the first paragraph or two, the article begins to demonizes the shady practices of this and other disabled persons who, along with their lawyers, turn ADA legislation in CA into a livelihood. These activities have caused some of them to be barred from bringing lawsuits without the court's permission. This is a far cry from the human interest story that I inferred from reading the titles.
- LilPuke, on 01/05/2009, -1/+1Dugg for the article. I don't think the title fit the article.
