This also makes it pretty much easier for the detectives to trace the guy and his possible whereabouts either by analyzing his FB profile or asking every single friend of his. There has to be some of potential fellow planner in the whole thing. It's too difficult for a teenager to come up with something without leaving a trail of some kind.
