      I don't care if you use prostitutes or dancers or pay someone to crush ***** with their feet - if that's what turns you on, and you need to pay money to someone to do it, then go for it. But to allow minors to do this - when they should be focusing on school, and learning what it is to be a real adult (emotionally, not just sexually), not seeing if they can score $50 to buy those new Keds they want.

      The sad thing is - what is the political environment that these girls are in? Are these runaways, are there economic problems in their community that this is how they need to make money just to get by, or are they just spoiled girls looking for more? I honestly fear that it is the former - history has shown that when times are tough, young girls start to get sold off into sexual slavery. Every third world country has had this plague for some time now, and I'd hate to think we'd allow things to get so bad for the poor in America that people feel they have to do it in this country just to get by.

The law/ordinance probably has a list of specific instances in which the city can act to close a strip club down. This particular event must not have been considered at the time it was written.

Once it hit the local news the local government would more than likely be pressured to act to the law and shut the club down, despite the club doing everything proper otherwise.

She promptly retired from pornography once she became legal, letting everyone in on the little secret. Everyone was stunned, but nobody went to jail as far as I know. Why? She had a bonafide California drivers license stating she was of age. How did she get that license? She presented a fake passport stating she was of age. So if the state of California can be fooled by a fake ID, why not a strip club owner. Now, that is just an argument for the law.
      According to the article, this is the second time an underage girl has danced at that club /that we know off/. I imagine more have done so and that the club is know for it to a specific group of clientèle. And as the stripper who introduced this girl to the club is also facing prostitution charges, there was probably some Thailand love going on as well. Will the law be changed? I do not know, but I will not be moving to Dallas to raise my kids.

However if you read the whole story everyone involved in actually getting the girl to dance are being criminally charged. So all in all I think it makes sense. There really isn't any reason to close the place down and put people who had nothing to do with the crime in a situation where they do not have a job.

If she was doing this while living at home, I can see problems. Lost, scared, and then taken in and given a job to net more money per night than she has ever had at one time, yeah, that's a hard sell to an impressionable 12 year old. According to the article, she netted $70 the first night. Assuming she gets a $10/week allowance, that's almost 2 months of money in one night! How much convincing did she need? I think this was not the first time the stripper and her pimp boyfriend did this and they got a bonus from the club.
      I am just glad she is half-way across the country living with her grandmother. The last thing she needs is to be constantly reminded of that experience and surrounded by kids at their cruelest stage who would eventually discover their classmate was a stripper.

Putting her psychical development aside, even the most simple 20 year old I've ever met was a tad sharper than a 12 year old. There's is just no way I can imagine adults not being able to spot that this girl was just simply not an adult.             I can't speak for anyone but myself (and we all know personal opinion is worth squat on the internet) but at the age of 12, I was in my third year of secondary school (I think that's the equivalent of 9th Grade?), away from my parents 8 months of the year, allowed to travel on my own and with the help of the right clothes and make-up attracting the attention of older men.

            But like I said...it's all down to personal opinions at this point and I'm sure we can agree to disagree :-)

While 12-year-olds are generally impressionable, they're not mentally incapable. She ran away from home, so she was clearly rebelling to begin with. Every 12-year-old I've ever known that looked much older tended to date older guys, act like they were older, and do things that older people do (unfortunately, they always seem to do the bad things more than the good, such as smoking, having sex, and dressing slutty.) I'm not saying that every 12-year-old who looks older is that way, I just think it tends to end up that way more often than we'd like to believe because those sorts of thoughts are pushed onto them by everybody they interact with.

        She knew what she was doing in the fact that she went unsolicited to the strip club to get a job, stripping, which is taking your clothes off for strangers in exchange for cash. Which even at the age of 12 you can understand that concept.
