Dad gets 18 months for forcing girl to kill cat

cnn.com — A man was sentenced to 18 months in prison after admitting that he forced his 7-year-old daughter to kill the family cat by holding a knife in her hand and making her stab the pet. "I am extremely sorry for what I did," Danield J. Collins said during his sentencing Thursday. "Everything is my responsibility."

This isn't like teaching someone to kill a chicken for dinner, and even if it was, stabbing an animal is not the way to slaughter it. Forcing someone to stab their family pet? This bastard should get much, much longer for severe CHILD ABUSE. The animal cruelty should be secondary.

The fact that this guy forced his kids to do it ... forced his kids to commit a felony ... that's where neglect of a dependent comes into the picture.

    And it's not about learning to kill for food - it's about learning to enjoy killing, especially things to weak to fight back. It's to instill the idea that those weaker than you deserve to be exploited, even killed for no better reason than your own amusement and enjoyment. The quintessential distillation of this is Dick Cheney's favorite sport - Quail Hunting, where tame quail are released in front of the guns so that they may be slaughtered by drunken fools.

    In other words, it's Republican Family Values at it's most bloody and vicious.
