- lucy22, on 10/01/2008, -24/+578These people were sick in the head.
- Freshjive787, on 10/01/2008, -24/+505i thought this was the onion for a second, then i realized it wasn't funny.
***** those kids. - sek52, on 10/01/2008, -86/+406Keep acting like you're morally superior, Europe.
Jerks. - ScottMcIntyre, on 10/01/2008, -20/+303This is a horrific story, and a terrible tragedy. The mob's behavior should make us all question what kind of sick society we have created when young people act like this.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -14/+262Aw look at the little emo. :(
But hey, I'm finally glad the the TRUE Britain is showing. I've lived in this god forsaken hell hole my whole ***** life and year after year, it just got worse, chavs, yobs, *****, crackheads. We got em all. Chavs seem to be making up at least 95% of Britain as of now and it ***** sickens me how they act, it's like they have no moral compass or conscience, they'll lie, cheat and steal to get what they want. They always hang out in groups of 10 and honest to god, I'm not lying about this. You'll gte ***** 9 year olds, hassling you, and 18 year old. How royally ***** up is that?
To be honest, they need to get everyone who contributes to society and is a decent human being, take them OUT of Britain, then once we're all safe, nuke the ***** out of it. - masterdelrond, on 10/01/2008, -7/+243What shocked me was that they started taking photos of the body!
I mean i can understand the ignorance involved with the jeering and shouting. But i would have thought that a dead body would shock them into compassion..
I will not be visiting Derby for some time. - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -2/+227'Technically' it doesn't.
- KINGMagazine, on 10/01/2008, -14/+154there are few things as evil in this world as teenagers
- Beylan, on 10/01/2008, -27/+145Was he a stockbroker?
- acrodev, on 10/01/2008, -4/+100Just terrible. I hope he was aiming for them at least.
- HarryRag, on 10/01/2008, -28/+120Britain != all of Europe.
Jerk. - SquigglyP, on 10/01/2008, -11/+99Witness the hypocrisy of Digg, where a story about someone dying will end up getting 200+ comments making jokes about their stupidity and Darwin, a story about someone nearly dying will result in 200+ jokes about their stupidity and Darwin, but a story about people in real life doing the exact kind of ***** they do here on Digg everyday? Yeah, ***** those rude teenagers! They've got something wrong with their heads!
How many of you ***** would have been cheering him on, too? Ignorant *****. - SteeleJK, on 10/01/2008, -2/+86No.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -6/+88They already tried that it's called Australia.
- occasus, on 10/01/2008, -14/+95"Yesterday police branded the mob's behaviour at the scene of Saturday's tragedy a 'shocking reflection on society'."
I'm so sick of this *****. This could easily have happened 10, 50 or 500 years ago. Spare the mobile phone jokes. - 10lbhammer, on 10/01/2008, -4/+74ah, but it's not just young people. in seattle a number of years ago, there was a jumper on the ship canal bridge. traffic was a mess because there were aid cars on the scene, not to mention it was during rush hour.
there were a number of reports of people yelling at her to jump because they needed to get to work. ah, here it is: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/37153_mathis ...
then there was the time where I was traveling by train from seattle to portland, and the train ran over a man who jumped in front of it. there were so many people saying things like "why did he pick our train" and "why didn't he kill himself by jumping off a bridge" that my traveling companion and I got physically ill.
people are *****. - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -7/+76Lot's of spelling mistakes. I'm not really helping Britains case here... -_- Penis.
- cusoman, on 10/01/2008, -3/+64I'll remember that next time Europeans rope all the hateful fundamental Baptists in with "Americans".
No True Scotsman, anyone? - bgrah449, on 10/01/2008, -23/+77He should have bought a go-kart.
- card51short, on 10/01/2008, -6/+57and then to kill them
- NoNamesLeft, on 10/01/2008, -44/+94Reading things like this make me realise that I am not against re-introducing compulsory military service in Britain anymore, because the youth has absolutely zero respect for anything. It's just out of control.
- esteskid, on 10/01/2008, -22/+70oh yeah that's a good solution go make everyone learn to kill instead
- flashboy131, on 10/01/2008, -1/+46"He didn't value his own life. Why should we?"
If you saw someone you loved about to commit suicide, wouldn't you want to do anything to save them? Obviously this is a stranger whom we've never met, but what a cruel thing to taunt someone to die when they are distraught. - BeShirtHappy, on 10/01/2008, -10/+54This truly broke my heart. As a parent, to think that people could behave in such a disgusting manner just... well disgusts me.
- jfsimard79, on 10/01/2008, -0/+41This is true. Didn't they cheer on the lions to eat the slaves in the stadiums in Roman times?
- scrptkid, on 10/01/2008, -3/+43Very slim chance they could be charged with assisted suicide. Certainly not accomplice to murder.
- NullD3v, on 10/01/2008, -13/+51Bender: Do a flip!
- NiteMayr, on 10/01/2008, -1/+38It's the Daily Mail, the whole thing might have been made up on the spot, could someone link to a non-sensionalist rag version of the story?
Never mind, looked myself, still finding it hard to get my outrage meter off of "It's too far away and there is no realy accounting for the ages of the people who did what"
Want to be outraged, look at what the Denver Police Union are up to. - GoatFounDeR, on 10/01/2008, -20/+56I think military service will teach you more about the value of life and friends.
- sneaker98, on 10/01/2008, -64/+100I've got no sympathy for the guy.
He's dead, but it was his choice. He wanted to make a public spectacle of it? Fine. Don't expect people to sympathize. - ssquared22, on 10/01/2008, -2/+36Agreed. I don't miss being a teen at all.

- jrackow, on 10/01/2008, -2/+34The USA has a couple of sick kids with guns shooting up schools and churches. But crowds cheering for someone to kill themselves. I'm not a flag waver, or a gun toting southerner, but dude. That's not the USA I know.
- tucsonsun13, on 10/01/2008, -0/+32"we're barely outta the jungle on this planet" - Carlin
- TheNik, on 10/01/2008, -0/+32It would if it had flames painted on the sides...
- chaosevil, on 10/01/2008, -7/+39Here in Atlanta a jumper on the end of a craine's boom was met by a car that blasted Van Halen's "Jump".
- essjay, on 10/01/2008, -0/+31It's the Daily Mail, which is far worse than the Onion in both its inaccuracies and its hyperbole. Except it expects to be taken seriously. Most Brits won't believe a word written in it.
- the0ther, on 10/01/2008, -0/+30nice to hear the perspective of a brit.
- PintOfGuinness, on 10/01/2008, -7/+37Well said just what I was thinking! Your average Digg user is a shallow immature little ***** with nothing better to do than piss over someone else's misfortune because he's too young to realise what a dick splash of a knob he's being.
- cusoman, on 10/01/2008, -2/+30I do understand that. Now, do you understand that within any given nation there are different cultural groups and not one of them can represent the country as a whole? Parallel.
- santaliqueur, on 10/01/2008, -3/+31Took longer than expected for the first anti-USA comment.
- Godzillajesus, on 10/01/2008, -1/+28I seriously thought this was the onion too. No way this should happen.
- XanderFrost, on 10/01/2008, -16/+43+1 internet to you good sir.
- j0etb, on 10/01/2008, -1/+28How many dead bodies have you seen in person?
- acrodev, on 10/01/2008, -3/+30I think what you mean is that we're all capable of evil, some people just never grow a conscience.
- replaysMike, on 10/01/2008, -2/+28That's just wrong. Everyone knows people don't bounce.
- socalftw, on 10/01/2008, -7/+32Seriously. People pretend to care or get all worked up... their "care" only goes as far as posting a comment about how tragic it is... and that's it.
- ali1722, on 10/01/2008, -13/+38What morally abhorrent behaviour! I am disgusted at those people's behaviour. Hope they get the ***** who were shouting encouragement for him to jump. So angry that people like this exist.
- magamiako, on 10/01/2008, -9/+33No, the military does not teach you to value life. It teaches you to kill people. That is the point of the military, for war. "Us vs. Them" "Kill or be killed".
What the military teaches you is to "protect your country, then yourself, then your family, then your friends, and kill everyone else." -
