- EasyThereKiller, on 03/19/2008, -13/+261Who gives a ***** if the woman was black. Isn't "Cop shoots mother holding infant" enough of a headline to piss people off? Race is the most negligible aspect of this atrocity.
- OBDriftwood, on 03/19/2008, -17/+183Not to excuse the cop, but this whole situation is the result of the War on Drugs. How many more people have to die before we stop this insane approach to narcotics?
- FSUCHEEF, on 03/19/2008, -25/+185"It's a sad day for us that one of our officers was indicted," Garlock said
How about it is a sad day that an innocent human being was shot and killed!!
Talk about not caring about anybody but his fellow occifer. - TomK88, on 03/19/2008, -13/+127I love how the cop is facing a maximum of 8 months in jail yet the drug offender will probably be locked up for the better part of a decade.
- moletimer, on 03/19/2008, -12/+114What the ***** is with the digg title? A human being is a human being, and an innocent life an innocent life, regardless of race or color of skin.
This is a tragedy, and I hope the police officer who did this gets what he deserves. - inactive, on 03/19/2008, -21/+76Here's an idea: Don't bring your crack baby to a crack house in order to have sex with your crack boyfriend.
- sk11, on 03/19/2008, -4/+48It's like they want the same immunity that blackwater gets in Iraq.
- GinsuGuy585, on 03/19/2008, -7/+45The officer is innocent until proven guilty, but I wonder why he is only being charged with a misdemeanor. Does the DA think it will be easier to prove, or is this a professional courtesy?
The upside is the child stands a better chance of being successful in the foster care system than in a crack house.
Jesse Jackson calling for the planners of the raid to be held accountable is just publicity hunting on his part... unless the plan was to shoot people holding babies. - mykool, on 03/19/2008, -1/+37Thats what I came here to say, except I would add that it's a war on Drug Users. It's a sad fact and this story is just another case in point.
- capiCrimm, on 03/19/2008, -3/+37Am I the only one who thinks a black baby looks a lot like a glock?
- FeartheKnighted, on 03/19/2008, -6/+39You just had to play the race card didn't you?
- ordig, on 03/19/2008, -7/+37He's also suspended with pay.
I guess if you want a paid vacation as a cop all you have to do is shoot an unarmed black person. - seanc6610, on 03/19/2008, -4/+30Why else would Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton care? They're more racist than any white person I know.
- d0onut, on 03/19/2008, -2/+26Yeah. I think the "drug raid" part was just a little bit more important.
- inactive, on 03/19/2008, -5/+28I don't even want to know ANY other facts! Not needed! I am sure she was just hugging her kid, not threatening the cops in any way! I refuse to care about all the facts. Don't need them. I will express my outrage based solely on the title and description of this Digg!
- TomK88, on 03/19/2008, -3/+26How does a drug dealer kill, rape, or steal? They sell a product that the consumers want. Is Pepsi evil for selling a product that degrades your health?
- Pstall, on 03/19/2008, -12/+35A woman gets accidentally shot in a drug dealers home... in the middle of a drug raid.... Yes its sad that a women died but what was she doing taking care of a baby while living with a drug dealer?
- RustyJ, on 03/19/2008, -3/+25yeah, "white" was the second word mentioned in the article. Why'd they have to bring race into it?
- VladislavIII, on 03/19/2008, -2/+24And which of those bad things is the boyfriend of the dead woman accused of?
- Pstall, on 03/19/2008, -7/+29Do you have any idea why she was shot? Do you know how she was moving? If she jumped out from behind something? Are you really that jaded that you think police officers purposely go around shooting women holding babies for fun?
- Turbojugend27, on 03/19/2008, -13/+33All I saw was Drug raid in the title. How many good cops get killed during these? Is everybody so naive that this mother had her ***** baby in a crackhouse? The baby will be much much better off in the foster system than having it's crap mother alive. Digg ***** sucks now, Obama and bad cops is all that is ever on here anymore......
- Sryden42, on 03/19/2008, -5/+24I really need to know about what occured than "Little is known about what happened during the raid". Not to say the cop doesn't deserve legal punishment, but she was in a house with a known drug dealer & drugs. Shame she was killed, but she really shouldn't have a child in such a house anyways.
The war on drugs is such a waste. Police get tied up in stuff like this instead of searching for real criminals and what should be innocents are turned into criminals as well. - inactive, on 03/19/2008, -3/+21The question is what was she doing that prompted her being shot. Raids are intense experiences and if the officer thought for a moment that she was a threat -- he was right to drill her. Big boys rules -- you play with drugs and guns and people get shot.
- noelsusman, on 03/19/2008, -2/+19Thank you.
What does it matter if the cop was white and the woman was black? When will people get over it? This article talked about nothing but race the entire time. What about the fact that A BABY HAD TO HAVE IT'S FINGER AMPUTATED and AN UNARMED MOTHER WAS KILLED IN FRONT OF HER ONE YEAR OLD SON WHO IS NOW AN ORPHAN?
Both sides of this issue disgust me. - alex7575, on 03/19/2008, -3/+19You forgot to mention that they also emphasized the fact that the cop was white... The news don't give a rat's ass about what really matters, they just want to ruffle some feathers...
"Is exercising and eating healthy killing you? Tonight at 8..." - ledmonkey, on 03/19/2008, -3/+19Believe it or not, drug dealers don't force people to take drugs. Some of these people have serious problems, yes, but others use drugs responsibly and go on with their lives. The people who have problems need help, not jailtime.
- atb12688, on 03/19/2008, -3/+19This title is absurd. Who ***** cares what races these people were. "Cop kills woman holding infant son" is all that this title should say. Don't play the race card. It's just not productive.
- JoshuaH, on 03/19/2008, -3/+17Yeah, I can hear Al Sharpton crawling out of his bed now.
- grakker, on 03/19/2008, -0/+13I'm not sure why you are being dugg down. What you say is just the facts. Even if you look at Hispanic vs Black gangs, Blacks are like 100 to 100,000 when Hispanics are around 5 to 100,000 in likelyhood to die violently. This isn't really something to digg up or down, just the facts. Like Obama said, let's talk about it. Not hide the facts of our society.
- Locke23, on 03/19/2008, -3/+16This is right on top of another story about a man raping a 5 month old baby.. WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD!!
- TobiasParker, on 03/19/2008, -4/+17Occifer? WTF?!
- protonone, on 03/19/2008, -4/+17I say we take away Jesse Jackson's speaking privileges until he apologizes to people he has wrongfully accused and when he admits that not every time a black person is injured it has to do with their race.
- VladislavIII, on 03/19/2008, -6/+18So, in other words, none of them.
- floridiot2, on 03/19/2008, -0/+12her baby
- EntropyFan, on 03/19/2008, -4/+16I have to say stop on this one.
What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Only works when you want it to?
Cops face lots of charges brought about by idiots wanting something for nothing. Ask any famous sports star about that.
If he is guilty, make them pay it back. I'm fine with that. But you can't just suspend them without pay every time anyone reports them. - kaijunexus, on 03/19/2008, -10/+22Let's look at the facts.
Marijuana and crack were found in the house. The house with the mother and 1-year old child. This poor, innocent woman was probably smoking pot and crack while her infant was most likely crying in its crib.
I'd also assume that the woman must have made some kind of threatening motion or action in order to provoke fire. Of course, there is the chance that it was not provoked, but I wouldn't put it past a woman who most likely abused drugs in the midst of her child.
I'm not condoning the killing of innocent women. But as far as I can see, this woman wasn't necessarily all that "innocent". - carpespasm, on 03/19/2008, -11/+23taking care of a baby perhaps? no doubt a shiesty place to be, but there's no reason she should have been shot.
- Aidje, on 03/19/2008, -2/+13The sad thing is, if this was a white woman, this would probably never have happened. (Statistically speaking.)
- robbh66, on 03/19/2008, -3/+14Yes- because a society of hundreds of millions of people should be judged on single incidents like this.
Moron. - Wetzilla, on 03/19/2008, -1/+12Yes, I'm sure the drugs would be harmless to a child who has to grow up in a crack house with a mother who thinks it's ok to bring her child to a place where drugs are being sold. It wouldn't affect that child at all, it would be just the same as if he grew up as a WASP in a middle class family. Drugs have no effect on anyone other than the user.
- TobiasParker, on 03/19/2008, -2/+13IT'S COMING RIGHT FOR US!!!!!!!!
- rawrzzz, on 03/19/2008, -3/+14The police aren't really that bad. They've prevented many armed robberies here and help many citizens. The media just reports all the bad things in order to gain more views, as no one really cares if a police does something good.
You really shouldn't trust the media. Don't judge the whole police force because of one individual. Only put hate on the ***** pigs who have the nerve to consider themselves police. - Professr, on 03/19/2008, -1/+11This isn't someone saying "omg he shot a lady and her baby", this is a county examiner saying "there was a freakin' 9mm round in a lady's chest from this officer's weapon. oh yeah, and that bullet shot off one of the little kid's fingers on the way into his mother." There's plenty of evidence saying that the officer's gun killed the lady and hurt the baby. She wasn't holding a weapon, she was holding a baby. There's no real defense to that...
- ledmonkey, on 03/19/2008, -1/+11How many drug dealers have you actually met MrB398?
- czeman, on 03/19/2008, -3/+13Amen!
- inactive, on 03/19/2008, -8/+17Oh yes, I'm so sure a majority of you have been beaten & shot at by the police for no good reasons. I hear they pull you over just to rip your eyes out and feed them to Satan's minions.
- slippiefist, on 03/19/2008, -4/+13I know it's been said before but, why the ***** do you feel the need to specify the woman's race in the headline?? Sometimes I'd rather live in ***** Mexico.
- Waiting2awake, on 03/19/2008, -3/+12 Very true - but only a very small part of those in jail are there for those drugs - heroin and such. Most are there for weed - a drug along the same lines as sugar.
- leetdood, on 03/19/2008, -9/+18Wasn't this a drug raid? I'm not a fan of the war on drugs, but we don't seem to hear anything from the cop's point of view. I'm not saying he made the right decision here, but he could have thought he was in danger. It's hard for police officers to make the right decisions in a time of stress, like a drug raid where they could get shot any moment.
Imagine how horrible he probably feels in this situation, killing an innocent woman who was holding her baby. -
