- mynameisteejay, on 09/13/2009, -42/+1540I hate guys like this, who think they can just go around respectfully displaying differing opinions. This is America, goddammit! Agree or flee!
- thevoiceless, on 09/14/2009, -20/+846Good man. It's nice to see a poster/flag that isn't insulting or rude, for once.
- cmansley, on 09/14/2009, -21/+582The video linked to in Flickr is crazy. The man needs a police escort for supporting the idea that people should be provided health care when they are sick.
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Hall paraphrasing Voltaire - norwegianlegion, on 09/14/2009, -15/+543I would be genuinely afraid for my safety if I did that.
BALLS OF STEEL. - phpchris, on 09/14/2009, -34/+470They're idiots.
- DevinWatson, on 09/14/2009, -8/+431Watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q7XH8lfGMc
- smacksaw, on 09/14/2009, -14/+377Spitting on someone...that's assault.
I would have liked to have gone and just held up signs like "SEGA, bring back Dreamcast", "bring back Charlie Chaplin's moustache" and "Caturday rules" with a picture of "I can haz cheezburger" and stuff like that. There's no point in even going and holding up signs that are a counter-protest. These people are a joke, so you might as well go and be funny. - evilrevolution, on 09/14/2009, -11/+333I havn't really been following this whole thing, can someone explian to me why people are protesting public healthcare?
- norwegianlegion, on 09/14/2009, -14/+314Ugh, just watched the video. It sickens me that he is booed and berated by so many and he needs a cop escort for expressing himself freely, as is his right in The Constitution, the very document they are there to "defend". And all that just because his sign was for a public OPTION, as in optional, not mandatory, you have to sign up for it, etc. They seem more like a brain dead militia than a reasonable bunch of protesters.
- sqrt2, on 09/14/2009, -6/+296He exercised his right to protest in a peaceful and respectful way. There is a real patriotic American.
- dazparkour, on 09/14/2009, -7/+262I am disappointed that he was stopped from exercising the same rights as those around him by the very people who were enjoying their own rights at the same time.
+1 giant balls. - Khirzask, on 09/14/2009, -1/+249Or that other guy with the sign that said "Obama: Bring Back Arrested Development!"
- Boogalou007, on 09/14/2009, -19/+263It's Un-American to spit on a citizen because of his views. I'm disgusted. And it's not like he was carrying a banner for something controversial like the right to love whomever you wish.
Why don't the Republicans want Americans to have basic health car? How Un-American can you get? How un-patriotic can you possibly be to want to deny people their right to health?
The Republican party is a disgrace to our nation. Spitting on an old man because he wants people to have access to basic health care, that is GOD DAMN DISGUSTING! - InactiveUser, on 09/14/2009, -14/+257Amazing that so many people believe a corporation will look after them.
"Sorry shareholders we can't give you a dividend this month, a Richards family has cancer and we need to invest everything we have into this, you will understand."
Brave man, brave indeed. - dire, on 09/14/2009, -6/+209I want to buy this man a drink.
- inactive, on 09/14/2009, -24/+227This is what the rest of the world sees America : ***** Republicans ruining your once great country into a 3rd world ***** hole. There are 43 million Americans without health care. Americans are dying because these teabaggers can't stop sucking Big Businesses *****. These Americans are choosing guns over universal health care. What The ***** is wrong with these people...aside from being uneducated racists bigots. ***** you Republicans and your fat ass Rush Limbaugh and that weasel dick ***** Glenn Beck.
- digitalArtform, on 09/14/2009, -12/+211That's nice how they support him with unanimous cries of Now Public Option! Now Public Option! Now Public Option! Now Public Option!
Heartwarming. - doublefelix, on 09/14/2009, -15/+169Even w/o waving the flag he would have been clearly been identified as an impostor for the lack of steam coming out his ears.
- DankBuddz, on 09/14/2009, -1/+151Holy *****, what a horrible, ridiculous comparison.
- Wicaeed, on 09/14/2009, -2/+144Well of course the police weren't there for his protection, obviously they were carting around the mans gigantic steel balls.
- asgardshill, on 09/14/2009, -7/+147Shopped! He would need both hands to push the wheelbarrow carrying his watermelon-sized balls, so what's holding up his sign?
- inactive, on 09/14/2009, -12/+1521 Genius in a sea of hateful idiots
- RAAFStupot, on 09/14/2009, -5/+144I don't understand how people can be vehemently opposed to something that is optional.
- algaeturd, on 09/14/2009, -14/+145This is awesome. Just made the inbred rednecks look that much more rabid, stupid and hateful.
- Cloned, on 09/14/2009, -2/+130Not everyone on Digg is American, so it's possible not everyone knows exactly what's happening in our country.
- squidandwhale, on 09/14/2009, -14/+140In order to understand the motivations of the protesters against healthcare reform, I think it's best to understand the narrative they use to understand the world. The narrative is this: Obama is trying to usher in an era of limited freedoms and a centralized command economy by taking over the government using Hitler-like tactics. I don't think I'm presenting a straw-person here. How else could a government death panel seem reasonable?
From the context of this narrative, a public healthcare plan is his first step. If you don't buy this narrative, the protesters are going to look like insane conspiracy theorists.
It also helps to know that those regions that didn't vote for the president specifically for racial reasons also happen to be his greatest detractors. - Vindexus, on 09/14/2009, -5/+129Please explain the thought process that went into this post, DiggerLater; I'm intrigued.
- thejackyl, on 09/14/2009, -0/+111Oh, I thought they were chanting "No Public Auction!". Like, ***** yeah, Silent Auctions only!!!
- basickly, on 09/14/2009, -0/+98What an awesome guy.
- Voxxis, on 09/14/2009, -2/+98Wasn't he just answering the question as to why these people are crazy? I don't think he holds that opinion himself.
- Vindexus, on 09/14/2009, -0/+95A lot of people were chanting "boourns" too. Maybe that's his last name?
- battins, on 09/14/2009, -5/+95(you)
- basickly, on 09/14/2009, -1/+85I like to imagine a giant sign in the sea of people that stands out in all the pictures: "WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN"
- Cracken, on 09/14/2009, -15/+99Exactly!
No public option, by god! No one should have any choices at all. Go with the flow and don't rock the boat. Dayum libruls! - sanchezke70, on 09/14/2009, -4/+87So when are the pro health care rallies going to happen?
- bobdiablo, on 09/14/2009, -12/+93Do you think Glenn Beck jacks off when he sees these tools.
I commend this man, a true patriot.... and ***** balls of steel. These racist tools disgust me. - Patrol42, on 09/14/2009, -5/+85Like a breathe of fresh air rising above the murky waters of hatred .
- Murrabbit, on 09/14/2009, -9/+89Ha and of course his is one of the most professional looking signs at the whole rally (if you look at galleries full of the protesters signs). That's a little strange considering the fact that these 9/12 protesters were organized and funded by lobbying groups PACs and corporations, and presumably this one man wasn't.
Conservatives really aren't so great at this whole protesting thing. Kind of nice to see them taking an interest in standing up for what they believe in, I just wish they'd now take an equal interest in facts, intellectual honesty, and civility. - Kranden, on 09/14/2009, -9/+88Who needs health care when you can just pray?
- meghalc, on 09/14/2009, -19/+98Good thing he was white. Bad for republicans, good for democrats!
- tk0680, on 09/14/2009, -0/+79GG, insult the person's intelligence (while failing to spell "grade" yourself) without actually explaining your view.
Actually, what am I saying, that DOES sound about normal. - Derelict267, on 09/14/2009, -0/+78At 4:05 is that woman imitating a sheep ((Baa'ing)) when she says Obama? Wow...insane much?
- TnTBass, on 09/14/2009, -1/+78"I'm here for the chicks!"
- alexiadeath, on 09/14/2009, -3/+80Please look around. The rest of the CIVILIZED world has universal/public healthcare. You guys look like nutters to us. We generaly dont feel very evil not having to worry about the cost of ambulance ride when we happen to fall ill.
- spuddbuddie, on 09/14/2009, -1/+77@PhantoRogue
yeah... except for the fact that "*****" is a derogatory term and "public option" isn't. Good try though. Not really. - KyotoWolf, on 09/14/2009, -1/+74@doctechnical
You do that already with private health insurance - Velnich, on 09/14/2009, -16/+86***** like this make me feel sick the stomach.
Of course by *****, I mean the crowd's reaction. Why even have a government when you oppose everything they do within the country? - dazparkour, on 09/14/2009, -0/+70"I'm just here with a big crowd because talking to them is the only way I can sound credible but you came on your own so you must just be following other people".
Is this like the Chewbacca defence?
Also, I like where they start getting lazy and fall into "public option, public option..." and the guy with the megaphone has to start emphasising - "Nooooooooo public option". - thejackyl, on 09/14/2009, -5/+74Options are BAD! Everything should be mandatory! OBEY!
- GalacticRerun, on 09/14/2009, -0/+69How about: "I ACCIDENTALLY THE WHOLE SIGN"
