- myansaphone, on 12/16/2008, -0/+73It really shouldn't count as breaking in if the door was unlocked
- Shazbuckle, on 12/16/2008, -2/+69The boy tried to resist and was shot five times in the head by police.
No investigation is planned. - darkecho, on 12/16/2008, -4/+66"CPS spokeswoman Shari Pulliam said Child Protective Services claimed oversight of a 4-year-old boy during a review of the incident. The boy will be allowed to stay with other relatives, not the parents, during the CPS review period."
WTF.. Kids will be kids. Maybe advise the parents to raise the locks on the door to their house. Taking the child from the parents for the kid getting outside when everyone is sleeping is garbage. - jggube, on 12/16/2008, -2/+60Kid's hardcore.
- lycao25, on 12/16/2008, -1/+43Damn over achieving children, making us adults look like pussies.
- angel.wardriver, on 12/16/2008, -2/+43Kid is probably on Santa's naughty list now
- karmaroks, on 12/16/2008, -1/+37ocean's 14?
- AmyVernon, on 12/16/2008, -2/+34How on earth did this four-year-old get out in the middle of the night??
- babychen, on 12/16/2008, -0/+32Stores leave their doors open at 3 am??
- polarbobbear, on 12/16/2008, -1/+33Probably a door.
- BossKey, on 12/16/2008, -0/+26Kid sees Santa as a mere middleman, and will get to the toys himself.
- vroom101, on 12/16/2008, -0/+24Full story . . .
#1. "Child found in store at 3 a.m. playing with toys": http://www.kfdm.com/news/child_29194___article.htm ... (www.kfdm.com/news/child_29194___article.html/playing_store.html)
#2. From the article at http://www.kfdm.com/news/child_29203___article.htm ... (www.kfdm.com/news/child_29203___article.html/police_says.html): . . . The child had to travel more than a block from his home on Chamberlin Drive to get to the store. And cross 7 lanes of traffic at 3 A.M., just to reach the door. That's where video from a surveillance camera shows him opening an unlocked door, and walking right inside, past the cash register, to the toys. "This 4 year old seems to be very smart, he was having a really great time at Family Dollar and the door was open, and that's good for that child," says Shari Pulliam with Child Protective Services. "He seemed to be happy, wouldn't you be? Playing on the toy isle," says Officer Stevens. Trucks, action figures, just about any toy a boy could want for Christmas, were all withiin his reach. . . . - inactive, on 12/16/2008, -2/+23Makes Chuck Norris look like a little bitch.
- DeadSkinMask, on 12/16/2008, -0/+19Unlawful Entry.
- TheScogg, on 12/16/2008, -0/+18<quote>Detective Randy Stevens of the Beaumont Police Department reports that the use of lethal force was employed after the child pointed an orange cap gun at the officers. Mattel was not available for comment at the time of this interview</quote>
- BooLag, on 04/23/2009, -0/+16Yeah, an elmo and two toy trucks.
- BooLag, on 04/23/2009, -2/+18I'm sick of these ***** kids in this ***** store!
- chrisduser, on 12/16/2008, -0/+15By any chance, did this child have a football shaped head and wear red overalls?
- rolf, on 12/16/2008, -1/+15Yeah, not breaking in. Still unauthorized access though.
- Jhonka, on 12/16/2008, -5/+18Only in Texas are children roaming the streets at 3am.
- jfdolier, on 12/16/2008, -0/+10I'd digg that comment even if it wasn't related.
- calenerd, on 12/16/2008, -0/+10He isn't breaking in since the doors are unlocked!
- yardeehar, on 12/16/2008, -0/+10Dave Chappelle had a run in with this kid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvjGHNwr1Nc - matude, on 12/16/2008, -0/+10It's actually a really good thing the store's door was unlocked, otherwise the kid could be who knows where now.
But seriously, a 4 year old can be quite smart, they are no infants anymore.
Here's one 4 year old who's hooked on smoking apparently. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2006-03/30/cont ... - superspaldo707, on 12/16/2008, -0/+10pretty ***** luck for the dumbass that forgot to lock the door...
2AM "O ***** i forgot to lock the door when I left work.....eh it should be fine, whos really gonna try the front door?..." - CoreyTamas, on 12/16/2008, -2/+11I have two kids, Paranor01. I don't know if you have kids too, but you're making some pretty ballsy statements for someone who doesn't. As for your point: You seem to think that keeping your toddler off the street alone at 3 AM makes you some kind of "super-parent", whereas I think it's not okay to expect less.
- cookingboy, on 12/16/2008, -1/+10FTA: "Officer Crystal Holmes says about six years ago a three year old boy in a diaper and shirt left home in the middle of the night, decided he needed french fries, and was going to a McDonald's in Beaumont."
WTF? I mean....what..WHAT? - inactive, on 12/16/2008, -5/+14The kid has a long future in jail I think.
- inactive, on 12/16/2008, -1/+9Did he take hostages?
- BullBearMS, on 12/16/2008, -4/+12How dare those parents go to sleep without locking their child into a cage first? At the very least tie him to the bed! Hell, why should the parents be allowed to sleep at all?
- kismetropolis, on 12/16/2008, -0/+7Or a legit job testing security systems for holes.
- hnazareth16, on 12/16/2008, -1/+7Christmas comes early. Lucky kid...
- mattcarreiro, on 12/16/2008, -2/+8i'm not screaming this is just how i talk!! ain't you ever seen my movies?!?!
- McWhiskey, on 12/16/2008, -1/+7"Detective Randy Stevens said the child apparently UNLOCKED a door at his nearby home, got out, then crossed a multilane street to reach the store."
- Stanslikewh0a, on 12/16/2008, -0/+5Probably by turning a door knob*
- BooLag, on 04/23/2009, -0/+5You can find any toy a boy could want at a Dollar store?
JACKPOT! - mrdude4290, on 12/16/2008, -0/+5It's too hard to resist Family Dollar
- howea, on 12/16/2008, -0/+5I once worked in a bar and accidentally left one of the external doors unlocked one night. Didn't discover it until the next afternoon when I opened the bar.
Bums used to regularly sleep in front of the door, as it was recessed in, except this one night.
Imagine all the Christmases if one of them decided to shelter in front of this door. - secrity, on 12/16/2008, -1/+6It DID happen in Texas ...
- Talphin, on 12/16/2008, -0/+5My 4 year old knows how to open the doors with ease, and the day I saw her open the door herself because she wanted to go outside, I had to buy a bolt lock, and installed it almost at the top of the door. I make sure that ***** is locked every night before I go to sleep.
The sliding glass back door also has a bolt that prevents the door from opening. - DeadSkinMask, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4That's not hard to do these days....
- al1encas1no, on 12/16/2008, -5/+9Who wants to bet he's left handed?
- paksman, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4future Danny Ocean
- matude, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4Munchies.
It was the weed selling infant Dave Chappelle encountered. - mimigins, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4It seems that on Digg parental responsibility is expected to be lower and that raising children doesn't require effort. It's pretty surprising actually how many people feel that way, which I've especially noticed since the kid killed his parents over an X-Box story.
I completely agree with Corey. It's not hard to lock a door and how tall is a four year old? Ridiculous that he got out and was able to break into a store. Seems like neglect to me. - MiDri, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4Lead poisoning FTW!
- bossm4n, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4The kid is actually a Toysomniac. He breaks into stores and plays with toys while sleeping. He recalls nothing the next morning.
- InfernoX, on 12/16/2008, -0/+4Good luck actually, if he hadn't gotten into the toy store who knows where he'd end up.
- xaccie, on 12/16/2008, -0/+3Still got capital punishment of felons in Texas, right?
