- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -1/+33A (seemingly) drunk cop with a gun in a club? What could go wrong?
- Bisquick, on 11/23/2008, -0/+28There really aren't any other comments worth making.
- irfanmp, on 11/21/2008, -0/+24I'm the police, I run ***** around here. You just live here. Yeah, that's right, you better walk away. Go on and walk away... 'cause I'm gonna' burn this ***** down. King Kong ain't got ***** on me!
- idc5, on 11/23/2008, -4/+28How the hell is he not fired?
Cops seem to get away with breaking laws all the time.. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? - newman8r, on 11/23/2008, -0/+23This is terrible... it's just another example of police corruption that's so common in our society. Personally, I think when a police officer is convicted of a crime the mandatory sentence should be doubled.
- hierophantus, on 11/22/2008, -0/+19Almost would have been worth the bullet in the face just to show you have the balls to give him that response.

- theyerb, on 11/23/2008, -1/+17Let me explain. You see, DIGG is a website in which users can vote on newsworthy events. The users have voted for this article as interesting. Voila. Front page. It's not rocket science.
- FoxtrotYankee, on 11/23/2008, -0/+16Sounds like every swingin' dick cop I've ever met...
- zyklon, on 11/23/2008, -2/+17Cops at a club might as well be frat boys with guns.
Not all cops are like this though, which is a good thing. - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -1/+15Sounds like a real winner.
These are the cops that need to be taken out of the force. - mmittimm, on 11/23/2008, -9/+22***** pig.
- maabus, on 11/23/2008, -0/+11Ya, no kidding. I find it funny tat the officer was charged with "menacing", as opposed to something way more serious, like a normal citizen in his situation would be charged with if we waved a ***** gun around a public place. WTF
- sbernhardt, on 11/23/2008, -0/+8Don't worry, he will get fired. The suspension is administrative, once he is convicted he will lose his cop certification. His department probably won't wait for that and get rid of him if he gets convicted.
- drummer815, on 11/23/2008, -1/+9McNulty.
- GregoryHarbin, on 11/23/2008, -1/+8Yeah, that's what I came in here to say.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -4/+11How unusual.. A New York cop that is stupid, fat, and carries a superiority complex.
- DrLeePhD, on 11/23/2008, -3/+9cops are *****.
- sockpuppets, on 11/23/2008, -0/+6First commenter?
- FelixDrylock, on 11/23/2008, -1/+7But then we'd have like... a few dozen cops patrolling the streets of America.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5wow in buffalo they actually have a police investigations unit that is not run by other police?
in Toronto, the cops can shoot or run over anyone they like and the "SIU" (run by other police in the same union)
will find it "justifiable" - linagee, on 11/23/2008, -0/+5A cop in a different area code?
- celotil, on 11/23/2008, -1/+6"A Northeast District police officer has been charged with three counts of menacing in connection with an incident early Feb. 16 outside the Town Ballroom in the 600 block of Main Street, The Buffalo News has learned.
"Officer Mitchell J. Thomas, 38, of Montcalm Street, is accused of pointing and waving a gun, Buffalo police reports said.
"Thomas, suspended from duty without pay last Friday, was booked on the three charges Wednesday morning after an investigation by the department's Professional Standards Division. He is a 10-year veteran of the force."
He's been suspended without pay and charged on three counts of menacing. It's in the first three paragraphs of the article. - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -1/+5Buffalo is in a league of its own. We don't really consider them NY'ers.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4Dear God, will Buffalo, or WNY in general ever make the front page for something good?
- Ephilation, on 11/23/2008, -1/+5Wasn't this in a Samuel L. Jackson movie???
- hotvision, on 11/23/2008, -3/+7Just another filthy pig that needs his head checked and his ass kicked
- opticwind, on 11/23/2008, -0/+4I hate how cops like this give all cops, some of the really good ones, bad names.
- ElBeh, on 11/23/2008, -1/+5I went to this comment thread just to expect and digg that comment, good sir.
- SamCanDigg, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3Cops will say, "hey, cops are just regular people! There's good ones and bad ones just like any other group!"
To which I reply, "no, you're not allowed to be a bad cop."
Popular perception is social reality. Popular perception is that cops break traffic laws and do crap like this. Popular perception is also that bad cops don't get fired (because the police force is controlled by the govt. it is an inefficient agency) so we all assume that the cop we're dealing with has a good chance of being a bad one.
Do you guys remember the baltimore cop who was beating up on the skateboard kid? Did he ever get fired? No. Ladies and gentlemen of the court, the state of Digg rests.
Let me propose a few new rules to help the members of Law Enforcement:
1. If three witnesses report a cop breaking a traffic law, that cop is fired immediately.
2. In traffic court, when there is no evidence and it comes down to the word of the officer over the word of the citizen, innocent until proven guilty should apply and the ticket is thrown out. Also the citizen is awarded the amount of the ticket in damages.
3. In incidents such as the one mentioned in the above article, the officer should ALWAYS be fired.
4. Officers must remember that their paycheck comes from MY MONEY and must always be pleasant, cordial, and respectful to those who are not being interrogated or formally arrested. In short, be nice when you pull someone over, you hypocrite! - TheGuruStud, on 11/23/2008, -3/+6This is probably just his true personality and behavior showing through; his true colors, if you will.
And it's not surprising. - Superperson, on 11/22/2008, -6/+9Dow dow dow dow duh duh dow
I ain't afraid of no ghosts... - hartley, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3So?
Why are you on digg? - ElBeh, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3That sounds like the subject for a rap or hiphop song.
- inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3actually this is good. the officer was charged by the police investigation people. in many places that wont happen.
- ElBeh, on 11/23/2008, -1/+4http://digg.com/how
- onionoino, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3i work with a guy who is training to become a cop. haven't quite figured him out yet, but he is huge, bald and russian. He also said that he'd arrest one of us if he ever saw us doing something illegal on the street. i cannot tell if he is kidding or not, he also asked how many drugs people at work do on his second day which is weird i think, asked if we all did hard drugs or just smoked pot and such. Guy has everyone on edge, i just hope he becomes a fair and just cop, who is genuinely concerned with protecting people and ensuring their safety and not just being a professional bully.
- tgc1, on 11/23/2008, -1/+4This is not the Untouchables fella. In real life, police officers can, do, and will be charged and discharged from the force. I'm assuming the Chief of police must be holding his head low in shame over this.
- dtpollitt, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3I think you mean "Good po-lice."
- jamesdew, on 11/23/2008, -0/+3What makes you think he is fat?

scnr - inactive, on 11/23/2008, -0/+2Actually it's pretty rare that they do anything. Maybe this is a good start.
