- Cyberdine, on 10/03/2009, -1/+31Homer: You know, if you let us go, there's a diamond necklace in it for you.
Wiggum: I hope you're not suggesting that I would take that necklace as a bribe. Think again, dirtbag, cause I can swipe it later from the evidence locker. - manbeef, on 10/03/2009, -2/+27"I think we're dead. Time is going by really really really really slow."
awesome. you stay classy, po-po.
seriously though, that other ***** is *****. - tmyprod, on 10/03/2009, -1/+15hmm...http://www.google.com/search?q=I+had+many+good+fri ...
- inactive, on 10/03/2009, -9/+22Cops, take away the gun,the cuffs, the badge, uniform, and you have a prick on a power trip.
- appleseed1234, on 10/03/2009, -2/+14Let's just say there are some places I'd feel safer getting robbed than calling 911.
- gnarnia, on 10/03/2009, -1/+13Springfield cops are on the take,
but what do you expect for the money we make?
Whether in a car or on a horse,
we don't mind using excessive force.
Bad cops, bad cops! - StoutMasterFlex, on 10/03/2009, -4/+15It's great what you can do with a GED!
- PaulMcIcedTea, on 10/03/2009, -2/+9During the years I ran as an EMT, I had to work with many cops at motor vehicle collision scenes, and at a few attempted suicide scenes. They were decent people for the most part, just wanted to get their job done. Not like the nuts in these stories. Those people are crazy, like my great grannies underpants.
- Kaegro, on 10/03/2009, -1/+7What people don't realize is that cops are people too. And some people are ass holes.
- inactive, on 10/03/2009, -1/+6***** OFF.
- AiR1890, on 10/03/2009, -1/+5Dugg for Cheif Wiggum.
"my badge says cash bribes only" - cawpin, on 10/03/2009, -2/+6No, in most places you don't.
- czydiamond, on 10/03/2009, -3/+7There are lots of cops out there who are power hungry bullies but there are many more who are just working stiffs trying to earn a living. They work long hours at a *****, dangerous job.
The ones we should be mad at are the idiots who make the stupid laws the cops have to enforce. - Moralogic, on 10/03/2009, -0/+3Art imitating life.
- inactive, on 10/03/2009, -1/+4small male genitals, or a desire to have male genitals?
- EmperorAwesome, on 10/03/2009, -0/+3Yeah, the thing that pisses me off the most is that if the police use physical force on you, it's illegal to defend yourself. Really? REALLY? Holy ***** that will never stop pissing me off. Assault on a police officer shouldn't have it's own law, there's already assault, with self defense stipulations in place. Knock it right the ***** off with the double standard.
- Skootles, on 10/03/2009, -0/+3Bart: Come on, Chief it was just a prank! Would some flatware make things right?
Wiggum: Um, what does it say on my badge? Cash bribes only! - Tales, on 10/03/2009, -4/+7Yeah guys, lets keep propagating stereotypes about police - I'm sure that'll help the attitude problem that people have towards cops (and therefore vice versa)
- Hortnon, on 10/03/2009, -0/+3I lost count of "BUT THE STORY GETS BETTER"...
- Tarkaan, on 10/03/2009, -1/+4a vagina
- M1911A1, on 10/03/2009, -2/+4You can make stereotypes about police, but I'd put money down if someone was making the same generalizations about blacks, hispanics, gay, etc., you would be the first to trow out your pretentious two-cents about bigotry. Fact is, you go and work as a cop for a month and deal with what they deal with before making judgment.
- Hortnon, on 10/03/2009, -4/+6You pretty much have no idea what you're talking about.
- Hortnon, on 10/03/2009, -5/+7Generalizations are awesome.
- inactive, on 10/03/2009, -2/+4Yep, it's gotten quite popular. I've seen it posted on digg many times.
- Kaegro, on 10/03/2009, -0/+2BUT did you or did you not smoke a joint? if you did that would have been awesome.
- KainDL, on 10/03/2009, -1/+2I hate reading stories about cops... always makes me want to go out and buy some donuts
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/03/2009, -1/+2FIGHT THE POWER!
I am a FREEDOM FIGHTER in my MOMS BASEMENT! I read PRISONPLANET! I *KNOW* the TRUTH!
PS: LEGALIZE IT! - czarcasm, on 10/03/2009, -4/+5This gung-ho chick cop (& her pussy male partner who didnt breath one word) accused me of smoking pot on the beach the other day.(Long story) She was one of those 'Park Ranger' cops.
We argued back and forth and it ended with her apologizing to me for her wrongful accusation. But then she wanted to stick around and argue the merits of her actions on the beach and how shes cleaning up needles, blah, blah. To which I interrupted loudly with:"OK BYE NOW,HAVE A NICE DAY."
She then said to her male partner:"OK Lets roll"
I wish I had my camera handy.. - scojerroc, on 10/03/2009, -3/+4you don't need to take away anything.
cop... prick on a power trip - anirodjinn, on 10/03/2009, -4/+5Rofl, stop watching "The Shield" and find out what's really going on out there. Join a civilian police unit or participate in a few ride-alongs. If you're really that serious join the police academy, work your way up, and institute your own change, showing people the right way to do things. Shootings are far less common than you make out and I challenge you to try a police laser shoot simulator and find out how many times you would make "bad shoots" or that you die in the simulator. And thats not real life where you have a ton of adrenaline running.
One of the things you'll find is that people try to "punk you out" by intimidating you, to distract you from a situation. This is a big problem among newer cops because they fall into the trap, and get more focused on them than on the issue. This leads to pissing matches that are so common on digg. You learn to cut directly past the B.S. by being very direct and get to the issue at hand. Those that don't generally don't last long in police work. Generally speaking we do evaluate people to see if they're trying to be deceptive, and what they are being deceptive about, the public sees that as "omg cops think everyones guilty."
For example I had a normal girl that made a traffic error last week. I questioned her a bit to find out that she was being deceptive about something. I checked the vehicle for narcotics but found nothing. I checked her wal-mart bags and receipt. This led to me discovering that everything in the vehicle in the bags were stolen, because she was a career thief that took "orders" for items to steal from local dirtbags that simply did not want to buy them. This led to dozens of stealings that were cleared.
Another example is when kids are out of school the stealing from motor vehicle rate skyrockets. They steal literally everything. At night I made it a habit to question everyone and determine their behavior. This led to many stealings being cleared and owners recovering their items. Again not harassment, but good police work.
The public generally views officers the way a ***** boss would view his employees. Pick out only the rare mistakes/errors and completely forget the good that's done. "Crooked cops" are the exception, they don't flaunt this crap in front of the rest of the department, they hide their behavior. If you think we are "covering" for cops that steal, kill, and assault people for no reason, you are grossly mistaken.
I don't mind answering further questions. Again this is a job, just like any other job. Some things are done right, some things are done wrong. You have alot of good employees and a few that hurt the team. We are measured for results and get promotions. Our business is dealing with peoples personal lives which is impossible to get right 100% of the time. - SelfArchitect, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1FYI I don't watch the Shield. I'm speaking on experience, first-hand experience. I seriously suggest you google Mayor Guilliani and how he ran NYC with the help of crooked foul mouth cops. Think I'm lying then explain why an initiative was created to encourage NYPD to be more Courteous, Professional and Respectful aka CPR http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3333/3570475288_53e ...
I was in HS and College those Guilliani years and was stopped numerous times (10+), mind you not doing anything suspicious, they always had false claims aka probable cause.
As usual you're quick to say everyone is stereotyping cops and here you are accusing me of making ***** up, dumb funny! - LastDawnofMan, on 10/05/2009, -0/+1Well it isn't bad enough that there are bad cops out there. Which you can expect, in any group of people, some will be jerks. But the thing with the cops is their departments are always helping them get away with criminal behavior, and harrassing and hurting the people who file complaints about the illegal behavior. People are always trying to claim "oh they have a bad and dangerous job" like that makes it okay for them to hurt or kill innocent people. People with a lot of power should be held to a higher standard, not a lower one, morons.
- czarcasm, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1*ahem* No
- mrken777, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1It is true cops are people to and there are good and bad. A few things in this are wrong and funny.."im dying ...time is going real slow..." lol and the cop who's car got away from him. Then there are those that need justice also..
I think more are good people trying to help and make a living... - inactive, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1You can also join the navy . .. .
- AiR1890, on 10/03/2009, -0/+1Cheif Wiggum - "and snake, do you see what happens when you kidnap the president"
Snake - "yes cheif wiggum" - anirodjinn, on 10/03/2009, -6/+6A: Clearly the many people I help, women constantly abused/assaulted/harassed by men, elderly people that need me before medics arrive, people that have thousands of dollars stolen by fraud, the cocaine/meth/heroin addicts I prevent from being unleashed on the public would probably tell you I'm in it for myself and that I didn't help them at all (/S). Again it's a job, just like any other job. We have the goal of investigating and solving issues reported to us, similar to a Taco Bell order placed by a customer that you would prepare and deliver.
B: Military Police/Special Forces experience and military bearing do wonders in how you deal with the public and in general relations. Ignorant comments like that prove how little you know to generalize military personnel as pure "killing machines."
C: The stereotype exists because people have no idea what really goes on out there and don't know the true intentions of what we are doing, because we can't take the time to explain to every why it's not alright to steal/assault/deal dope/whatever ignorant crime against people you are doing. People in general demand control of situations. They lose control when they decide to do something ridiculous and we get called. When they discover they no longer have control they tend to get mouthy or assaultive and are amazed when we take the necessary steps to affirm control of a situation.
I could care less if everyone hates me for doing the right thing. Most Iraqis hated us and actively tried to kill us, placing a 10k bounty on our heads, but that didn't detract from me doing my job there.
Apparently you lack civility, knowledge, and the experience that comes from stepping outside of mom's basement. - vtnerd, on 10/03/2009, -7/+7Whatever it takes for you to be able to sleep at night but
a) you aren't serving anyone but yourself
b) military training does not qualify you to deal with civilians outside of a war zone
c) the stereotype exists b/c you and your buddies are douche bags. You're too close to be able to see or understand, but everyone hates you. - SelfArchitect, on 10/03/2009, -4/+4"Stereotyping us is usually done because you or somebody you know likely had a bad experience, usually because of an act that they brought on themselves."
I call ***** on this line right here. No one in their right mind ask to be harassed by a group of punks(cops). I know from my own experience that cops like to ***** with people cause they got a badge and a gun, their duty is to shoot first, ask questions later and all civilians are guilty until proven innocent. A cop who kills a unarmed civilian is a hero, a civilian killing/defending himself against a crooked cop is a criminal just ask Larry Davis.
Theres no stereotyping going on, what you see is facts being presented to you and you accuse us of lumping all cops together. Well until the so-called good cops step foward and put an end to crooked cops and the blue wall of silence, till that day, ALL COPS ARE CROOKED.
To be honest the only cops that do step up from the NYPD is the 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement. The only reason they exist is because black officers are also victimized by their peers, just google "plain clothes officer shot", and try to explain why this is a recurring situation in your line of work.... - divinds, on 10/03/2009, -0/+0bad cops destroy the society
- theonlywizdum, on 10/03/2009, -1/+1Name one, and back it up with a reliable source. We went through this last time there was a cop article on digg, "most places" usually means some backwoods town with 100 people in it.
- TraumaMamma, on 10/03/2009, -1/+0They seem to get away with more than John Q public would, too.
http://behindthebluewall.blogspot.com/ - binhphan, on 10/03/2009, -3/+2"We have our rights!"
"Well, why don't you exercise your right to shut the ***** up!" - Cyberdine, on 10/03/2009, -2/+1So, what would female police officers have?
- HornyAngel, on 10/03/2009, -6/+5No wonder so many crimes go unsolved. Smart cops, as Hollywood depicts them, exist only in fairytales.
Respect? I don't think so. Maybe they can impress grade school kids with their awesome gear. Adults tend to be more impressed by thinking abilities. - theonlywizdum, on 10/03/2009, -5/+3I'm not defending any of these idiots, but you need more than a GED to be a cop. This is a failure of the tech school that didn't weed out the idiots.
- manbeef, on 10/03/2009, -6/+3penalty of burial for not including /s
- anirodjinn, on 10/03/2009, -13/+7lol good god, this is a job like any other job.. If you don't know most major departments require 30-60 hours of college like mine, and about 50% of officers were just released from military service like me and wanted to continue my service to the community. That being said there are a lot of good dudes like any other job, and a few chachbags like any other job. Stereotyping us is usually done because you or somebody you know likely had a bad experience, usually because of an act that they brought on themselves.
- e8989, on 10/03/2009, -13/+7Cops are awesome!
