- leonardutah, on 12/04/2008, -1/+44The woman later crashed her plane and fled the scene. Suspect is believe to be unarmed.
- Dimanoff, on 12/03/2008, -5/+38I would not like to take the risk of being a passenger behind her back

- mark076h, on 12/04/2008, -4/+11What if one or both of her legs falls asleep?
- IpwnZnoobs, on 12/04/2008, -0/+6Shut up
Seriously. - addiktion, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Agreed. I don't think I would be that bothered by her not having arms if she was my chic. She can do it all without arms so who needs em?
- jemka, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5Speaking of jerk, I bet she gives an awesome footjob.
- foxtrot3, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5That's truly impressive. As far as I know, the Ercoupe (that's the plane she's flying) is the only plane ever made that doesn't have rudder pedals, which makes it the only plane she'd be able to fly, but still very impressive.
There's an armless guy in San Diego who plays guitar with his feet. There are vids of it on Youtube. - makkaveli19, on 12/04/2008, -0/+5you're awesome.
- fakeguy, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4Im not trying to be a jerk butI wouldn't even get in the plane with her. Im more chicken than jerk...
- weech, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4wtf..dude you guys are wrong. that's a great story, good for her...the first person ever to have done this.
- artliquide, on 12/04/2008, -1/+5Nice. Wish I had a disability so that I could make money by talking about myself...but seriously, I love her attitude and sense of adventure. Go girl :)
- Nothlit, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4If you watch carefully, you'll notice she is flying an Ercoupe, which was famous for having no rudder pedals. The Ercoupe's rudder is linked with the ailerons to maintain coordinated flight. I guess that means you can't do maneuvers like slips, but it makes flying with only one set of limbs a little bit easier...
But yes, I wouldn't want to be in her situation on a cross-country flight having to write down checkpoint times and follow the map, and tune the radio, etc. with only my feet. But maybe she can do it... - artliquide, on 12/04/2008, -0/+4It's not difficult to take a cheap ground course and a few lessons in Arizona.
- babylonian, on 12/04/2008, -2/+5This kind of makes McCain look pathetic.
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -1/+4well said.
- ASSASSYN360, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3I have been flying for 10 years and have heard and read amazing things accomplished by pilots with disabilities. But this pilot is the most amazing aviator I have ever heard about with a disability.
- Indierocka, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3and cute
- naeim, on 12/04/2008, -0/+3And I thought my life sucked.
- SillyRabbits, on 12/04/2008, -2/+5So dangerous, I'm surprised any responsible instructor signed off on her license. A number of emergency procedures require simultaneous operation of rudder, ailerons, throttle, etc. I'd like to see some video of her operating the navigation equipment while simultaneously determining the vectors on a map to the nearest airport for an emergency landing. People trying to come up with heart-warming, feel-good stories are going to get somebody seriously injured or killed here.
- Nothlit, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Probably the same thing that happens if a normal pilot's arms fall asleep...
- SillyRabbits, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2@Nothlit
Good catch, I didn't notice that. When she did the take off run, it looked like she was reaching down and applying rudder with one of her legs.
Anyway, I still feel it's irresponsible to allow her to fly solo. If she wants to fly - great! But there should be a certified pilot in the right hand seat in case problems arise. Under good conditions a monkey can fly a plane. It's the emergency situations that determine how proficient a pilot is. - KarlH, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Nah, it's just a bit of 'armless fun.
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2So how does she talk on the cell phone and put on makeup while flying with only legs?
- mugicha, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Thanks for pointing that out. I thought the moral of this story was that failure is inevitable if you don't have two arms.
- Pullstem, on 12/04/2008, -2/+4I feel alot safer knowing an armless lady is flying an aircraft in my neighborhood! what if her feet fall asleep?
- s0nicfreak, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2Well it is easier than driving a car...
- Nothlit, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2What makes her feet any more likely to fall asleep than a regular pilot's arms? When was the last time your feet fell asleep randomly?
- inactive, on 12/04/2008, -0/+2"Armless lady pilots her plane with legs" ...soon to be followed by: "Armless Lady Crashes Into Mountain"
