Arizona Town Decides Election With Deck of Cards

telegraph.co.uk — Thomas McGuire and Adam Trenk each won 660 votes in an election last month for a seat on the Cave Creek council. A recount was considered too expensive and insufficiently entertaining. Previous deadlocks have been decided by gunfights but the pair opted to draw cards instead.

One area had a tie in the mid-90's and the Secretary of state went up to be the dealer in the card game between the two candidates.

What the article also fails to mention is, everyone else is either a. old or b. too rich to care about a recount. Not much goes on around here, so they found a decent way to entertain themselves I suppose.

Unfortunately no one bothered to shuffle the cards before dealing the hand which pretty much removed any element of chance from the game.
