-When we cut you off on the road its like a secret handshake. It takes $300 and 4 elective points to train how to safely cut someone off so be more appreciative.
-Most service workers are part of the society. Yelling at them is code that we in fact are a fellow member. Then they give us free food or other perks as a fellow member.
-Most of the time no one is on the cell phone during these public conversations (and if they are its a sponsor from within the society.) This is our strategy to install Directive 42 throughout the world. For those of you not in the know Directive 42 is to spread the value of "patience for others" within our culture.
-Throwing fits in public (or objects) is known as "The Dance of the Rationale". We are merely bringing awareness to rational thought by embodying the irrational through pantomime and theatre. This should be a period of reflection for onlookers. Next time you see a fellow member performing this sacred dance thank them and bow out of respect. - falkyr11, on 11/11/2008, -1/+1Great article. More and more I'm shocked by how rude and self absorbed people are becoming. Here's a short list:
- Throwing cigarette butts out the ground or out the car window. Hello?! Cigarette butts are garbage!
- Texting while driving. Hello?! There are other people on the road who value their lives and cars! You're not that good a driver that you can do both!
- Clerks who just stare at you when you approach the sales counter.
- Parents who allow their kids to roller skate with those sneaker skates in public places and endanger other people.
- Parents who allow their kids to be loud, wild, and disruptive and then say their kids have rights.
- People who park on the street when they have garages and driveways. They don't want to be inconvenienced! - Manolyk, on 11/11/2008, -1/+1You know...That might be the only reason I go to BestBuy. Sometimes it's better than pushy sales people but that also depends on the situation.
- d2002, on 11/11/2008, -1/+1"What about the sales clerks who ignore you -- then act like they own the store when you finally get their attention? "
That's why I never go to AC&F - Bastet62, on 11/11/2008, -1/+1I'm much better at being rude in hindsight, (and therefore in my imagination), rather than in the moment - except online where I can think and then type out a snarky response. Oh - and leave the smokers alone - geez - they're outside for crissakes. If second hand smoke was that dangerous all of us over 40 would be dead already as our parents/g-parents smoked constantly, everywhere, with the windows closed.
BUT - I believe people are pretty rude, but I think it may be due to years of hearing how you gotta take care of yours and the hell with everyone else, lack of community, lack of humility, lack of empathy with others, plus for some reason it's supposedly cool to be really mean and rude, not so cool to be pleasant, have manners, and genuinely care about others, though I prefer to hang around with the latter type of personalities. - juliet2139, on 11/11/2008, -1/+0eww that is so gross and true people think there the only one having a bad day and there ***** don't stink especially store clerks the worst
