- cndc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Just to add as a resident of DC, half of the city is Federal land, which is under the jurisdiction of either the Secret Service, Federal Protective Police Service, National Park Police, or Capitol Police. DC citizens have no democratic recourse because it still has no vote in the United States Congress, so asking saying that the locals should vote to change regulations is moot.

He was there to startle and scare anyone around. I was pretty "mah" about this video until the horse cop showed up. THAT is fear tactics in use.

Every utility box in the whole damn city is covered with anti-war posters (not just for this event). The reason they were arrested is because they announced that they would be postering near the White House, which is where they were. The Metropolitan Police force would never do something like this; this is the Federal Park service, which have jurisdiction and are political hacks.

Our own government, by the apathy of the people, has taken away our rights and freedoms. Osama doesn't have to kill any more Americans. The first amendment is gone. The fourth amendment is gone. This is not the first time protestors have been arrested in the U.S. MLK was arrested for civil right protests, people who protested the vietnam war was arrested. All this does is give more publicity to there cause. Secondly they broke the law two days in a rowe. They were warned not to use that glue. So the next day they came back and used the same glue in hopes of getting arrested so people would be all up in arms about how the U.S. is a dictatorship.

These things are required to get the issue seen. Rosa Parks planned on getting arrested just the same as these people did. The only difference is that you read about Rosa in textbooks.

This very much seems like the police are being pressured to crack down on these people for purposes OTHER than protection and service. Maybe the cops disagree with the protesters politically or maybe they are complicit in an effort to silence people who prefer peace even though it's less profitable.
