- CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -2/+67I hadn't seen it yet. So quit your whining.
- crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -14/+50spam sucks
- tuxthepenguin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+36Cool video but did anyone else notice that its cutting out sections of the trip?
- FastZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27That's a long ways to drive without stopping for gas.
- jcrewyayo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27michel gondry is the man
- jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Helps with quicker troop movement...esp to Canada's border.
- the3kgt2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25That would take forever to watch...Nobody wants to watch an hour long video of a drive.
- squeevey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21the song is "Behind" by Lacquer off the cd Overloaded.
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Thanks.
- khag7, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17YES!!! there is NO way that was the whole trip. it just randomly cut at certain times. plus i dont think it was all at the same speed. i'd like to see it all at one speed, you know? it just makes sense that way.
- mongrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13First time for me, glad I didn't miss it! F-off.
- catmistake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Its not the music, its the grampa behind the wheel... sheesh, I've made that trip a half dozen times and it always takes me less than 3 minutes (but I know a shortcut around Tucumcary)
- kturner, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13He's in a wooded area... then all of a sudden he's in a tunnel entering Manhattan. No tolls/E-Z Pass... no urban buildup to the city. Yea... he's def skipping some areas.
I would have liked to see the 495 circle when entering the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken with AM traffic. (He might have had to take the camera down when entering the tunnel... no photography of the tunnels is allowed by Port Authority.)

- tgui, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13In the spirit of driving up the number of people looking at crappy video, I post the link here

Time lapse drive from Ann Arbor to Virginia in my STi. Jesss, I use the power for evil at times. muuuhhh hahahahaha! - LexisNexis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Use the reply button.
Sure anyone could make this video, but he did. - chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9i would like to do something like this.
sorry, not a very useful comment. - somnus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10You want to spend nearly the same amount of time watching the car sitting there at night as you do watching them drive?
- nerditup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I like how at the end, the sign says end..
- breakbeat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The part around 2:49 where he's driving through the tunnel or whatever has some really neat light effects.
- redheadguy719, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6the clouds overhead at about 2:20 look really cool. I know that sounds kinda stupid but, look back at it.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6That brings back memories. I drove from Baltimore to LA a couple of years ago when I moved out here, what an awesome drive that was. After all the bustle and paperwork of preparing to move my entire life across the country it was awesome to just get in the car with a ton of CDs and drive for 3 days.
- NoOneButMe, on 10/12/2007, -9/+14Awesome video but the music almost put me to sleep :
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This thread seems to be full of apologetic fans. ("I know this is a lame post, but that was great" sorta stuff).
Just an observation. - ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4As an amateur photographer, I often slap my forehead and say "why didn't I think of that? I could have done that!" Yes, we could all physically do that. You buy a decent camera and mount, you put it on the right settings. And you drive cross country. Then you edit it down and put music to it.
But he did it. Maybe he got the idea from someone else, I doubt he's the first to think of a time-lapse video of a long drive. - Suits, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I remember when Kevin Rose featured this video on his blog back in the day, when he was still on TS. Great video! :)
- BlackSheep720, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5a ridiculously more high quality version can be found here in MOV form:
http://www.partizan.us/musicvideos/og/lacquer_behind.mov - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Nooooooooo
- Tekknosk8er, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Funny that they broke down in the video... Looks like a 60s Mustang in the video, Nice!
- dark1deviance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2do we know for sure this is michel gondry? it wouldn't surprise me but im still skeptical.
i love michel - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah... it's not true time lapse. kind of disappointing.
- Nomad83, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Recently having to make that drive myself...it looks like he took the southern route, and then went up to the 80 in Chicago?
Could have saved himself some 250 miles going through denver on the 76 and taking that straight across the country. Would hate to go through the rockies with a convertible though. - AceTracer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This guy seemed obsessed with leaving his top down. And this is coming from someone that's only ever owned convertibles.
- Bokista, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It would be interesting to have a list of your positions based on the video's timestamps.
- sjm20k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Gondry is a madman behind a camera
- PDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Would have been nice to have a map overlay in the corner to see where they were.
- third_eye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2One of the coolest things I've seen on Digg in a LONG time.
- tallfellow23, on 12/29/2008, -0/+2This is incredibly nit-picky, but they're definitely cutting out of sequence there. Around 2:33 you can see them crossing the Brent Spence bridge on I-75 into Cincinnati. After stopping, they continue their drive. Then at 3:01, they're crossing the Suspension Bridge -- back into Cincinnati. I dunno, maybe they got lost in that series of tunnels. Video's cool as hell though. Wow, I have nothing better to do.
- dagooh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love it how he had a stop in Vegas, tsk tsk, that's not the shortest way! ; )
- polarforilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Obviously the top was down to facilitate the camera shot and provide for a wider perspective. This an awesome video.
- rovertly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey spammer,
why don't you go ***** yourself? - MystyRayne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So I'm guessing it took him about a week; 6-7 days? Also, they cut out when he stopped for gas, which would have been great to watch, goddammit! At least he left in when he went to the mechanic. Which state did he stop in to pick up his friend? I have so many questions! Still cool though.
- AprilEthereal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2A lame comment, I know, Digg me down if you like, but I have to say, that was pretty neat video.
- Badaudio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen it multiple times, but its always good to have the ''classic'' content to new members , and beside this is no longer a news only site, so things can be old
- t.toe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah, I'm really confused... at first it looks like he takes i40, and then gets on the Northern route at some point... not sure why he did that. maybe to avoid snow in Colorado or something.
- Daiken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually I've seen a lot of crappy roads around the US unlike Canada. Then again, I think they're about equal.
- novaneil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@nerditup I also thought that was very clever.
- adamwho, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What is that song? It sounds like Dirty Vegas but it isn't on their discography.
I can't find the song name or artist anywhere!!!! - weddle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I noticed the same thing. They were in Cincinnati then Nashville and then Cincinnati again. Cool video though.
- rekrapt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm waay more obscure...
