- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+26Wow. That was very moving. I could watch that again and will later.
- oyflaaaayvin, on 05/28/2009, -3/+27Slight horseface action at the end. rawr!
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+24Amazing. This is a feel good story of the year. Nice to see things like this on Digg.
- ebaymag0t, on 05/28/2009, -5/+28She was great but enjoyed this rendition of the national anthem http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhcZRFcjbhw
- pingpants, on 05/28/2009, -0/+22What a doll!
- PeteSchiller, on 05/28/2009, -1/+19Did anyone else get goosebumps or could it just be that I have a daughter around that age, too?
- Smokeydabear, on 05/28/2009, -7/+21She then counted every tile on the floor of the Chicago Greyhound Bus Station ladies room.
- Geordae, on 05/28/2009, -0/+13Very happy for Gina.. she did a good job, t4p!

- dannyknight, on 05/28/2009, -1/+12This video is uplifting, beautiful, and enjoyable.
That comment was hilarious.
There can be room for both. - megs33, on 05/28/2009, -0/+10Wow She is amazing! Great story...
- aspec, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Every camera guy has that look.
- BoneStamp, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8That's not ordinary. I don't know any 7 year old who can sing that well or even stand in one place for that long.
- scfishy, on 05/28/2009, -2/+10That is awful. Simply awful.
I laughed. See you in hell. - OLTP, on 05/28/2009, -2/+9Because these kids used to be institutionalized at a young age and would never learn to talk or sing. Public opinion toward autistics has come a long way. It's something to be proud of.
- RuskiBanger, on 05/28/2009, -1/+8Great! i hope its chronic.
- mickstephenson, on 05/28/2009, -1/+7And ugly people used to not be allowed on TV, which is why Susan Boyle is so amazing.
- idolwalrus, on 05/28/2009, -0/+6Why did that camera guy look so pissed?
- einrobstein, on 05/28/2009, -1/+7Some kids are *****. Admit it.
- Smokeydabear, on 05/28/2009, -1/+7Obviously you have not seen the popular movie "The Rain Man."
- awtripp, on 05/28/2009, -3/+8A) she's 7, B) she didn't speak til she was 3, C) It's one of the hardest songs to sing
and she still sings it better than a lot who have tried. - Dronez, on 05/28/2009, -4/+9What does being black have to do with anything?
- ethanator1088, on 05/28/2009, -2/+7Awesome! Great vid!
- hidetheice, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Another video of her from MSNBC with a short interview.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/30386621#3 ... - jerrycan, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Nothing to do with this story, but when I little my older brother said Anchors Aweigh was the national anthem for the US and he taught me to sing it. My grandfather was an old Navy man and when I went to a Memorial day ceremony, (my gramps passed away 4 months previoous) when I was 4, near the end of a minute of silence, my brother told me to sing Anchors Aweigh. I didn't get past the 1st line before every navy vet in that gymnasium cheered at the top of their lungs.
BTW, I'm Canadian, but most of my family is from the US, hence my brother's monkey shines. - apetrie, on 05/28/2009, -0/+5Blah blah blah about Autism, but this girl has real trouble forming words and has used singing to help her with it. Her autism is completely relevant. I don't give a crap what you think the legitimacy of "Autism" is, you can't deny that this girl has serious communication problems, and singing that well is an accomplishment. Did you read the article or just post about how its BS?
Plus I'm 31, a great singer and have crippling stage fright. Kudos to her for being so brave. - WhoDoneIt, on 05/28/2009, -1/+5Holy Goose Bumps.. GREAT job!!
- enantiodromia, on 05/28/2009, -1/+5Humorous Digg Observation of the Day:
People with obvious behavioral and interpersonal skills issues making themselves feel better by trolling Autistic kids.
Guess what guys, just because you haven't been diagnosed with something, doesn't mean you don't have it. There are tons of people on the "Spectrum" who grew up not knowing they were a bit Autistic/Aspergers/PDD-NOS, and now, they sit around trolling people form the comfort of their own home/basement, which is perfect for them as they don't need to make eye contact with anyone, vocalize their thoughts, or attempt to read another person's body language.
So consider this, Digg trolls: Do you feel better when you are alone? Do you avoid social situations? Do other people often not "get" you? Do you think differently than most other people? Maybe you find that you easily lose yourself while staring into that lava lamp on your desk? Maybe you have half taken apart computers or mechanical devices all over your house, yard, and garage?
What do you think that sounds like? - soggydave2113, on 05/28/2009, -1/+5yeah...that is awesome!
- kryptikcomic, on 05/28/2009, -1/+4"I'm sick of people seeing mentally challenged people doing great acts and saying its an "amazing story." Yes, they are less capable than us, but they can still excel at many things."
That's not an arrogant and pretentious statement in and of itself? - XkenX87, on 05/28/2009, -1/+4Hell I would Pirate her CD
- Exedous, on 05/28/2009, -0/+3I knew two autistic kids, one was fairly normal and quiet, the other was... very off. The one that is normal, he goes to college with me. You can have a normal conversation with him, all good. Sometimes though, he just stares at you for a few seconds, then it looks as if he relapses. He's also incredibly smart.
- burningrobot, on 05/28/2009, -0/+3Because he had to cancel his date to film Orlando and Boston play, but he's a Lakers fan.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -2/+5I can't even remember all the lyrics to The Star-Spangled Banner.
- cal0140, on 05/28/2009, -2/+5Absolutely correct, my point was to disprove the above notions that Autistic children have normal vocal/communication skills. I copied and pasted -verbatim- from WebMD so as to provide a more respected source than just me babbling.
You could hear her struggle with certain sounds in the video, so it appears that she isn't one of the near-normal ones. She may be able to function at a higher level than many autistic children, but after having watched two autistic children grow up, what she's doing is just awesome. She may not be the best singer, but given her circumstances she's both a lucky and amazing little girl. - inactive, on 05/29/2009, -0/+3I know the national anthem. It just happens to be such that my national anthem is Oh Canada.
- apetrie, on 05/28/2009, -0/+3"Her parents sent her to a school for kids with special needs as she had trouble forming words when attempting to speak. But her teachers at the school used music to help her with her language skills." Mention of her difficult speaking, FTA.
You can also hear it in her pronunciation of words when she is singing. Shes obviously struggling with the words at times. What they don't make mention of in the article is any medicating of this girl because of her issues. So I am not the one making assumptions.
You might have a point about Autism being diagnosed too often, but it doesn't make you right in this case, and you aren't doing anything but belittling her accomplishment. Without labels we can't define and learn about ourselves. Sounds like you don't want to believe that your grand son could be anything but "normal" and are upset that hes been labelled as developmentally challenged in some way. I hope thats not the case for his sake, his family pretending he doesn't have any special needs is a lot worse than him being "labelled". - enantiodromia, on 05/28/2009, -1/+4i am willing to bet you know a thing or two about having faulty social skills and no friends.
- acegi, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3china would have gotten cuter looking autistic girl to lipsync to her.
- killswitch85, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2yeah dude, wtf was up with that. why can't we get the view from the camera guy thats standing right in front of her?
- storycipher, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2Working around sports all my life, I have heard this song plenty of times. This girl is about as good as it gets! I digg it!!
- killswitch85, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3Hypocrite. Just because they have disabilities, doesn't mean we can't be amazed. For a full lesson in this, watch the South Park episode Timmy 2000.
- tits0Rgtfo, on 05/28/2009, -1/+3Ya the last dog I had sing was your mother last night. I swear she was singing gospel.
Yes, make fun of a 7 year old with a disability. Please don't procreate it will sully the gene pool. - beabis, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2I guess you missed the comment thread for Mike Tyson's kid. Among all the meaningless condolences was some brilliant American humor that a high-horsed asswipe like you would have found wretch worthy.
- burningrobot, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2You should be waterboarded.
- nepidae, on 05/28/2009, -0/+2you following me camera guy?
