- Divals, on 04/28/2008, -6/+154The problem isn't polygamy, the problem is polygamy practiced by nutty male-dominated religions forcing girls to marry way too bloody young. Polygamy by itself, allowing for multiple wives or multiple husbands, is just another way of living. As long as it's all consensual, there's nothing wrong with it and I don't see why the government should get involved in those cases.

- badassninja, on 04/28/2008, -1/+66Do whatever you want. Just post the videos online.
- CaptMonkey, on 04/28/2008, -3/+59Multiple wives is a bad idea. You know how hard it is to find a girlfriend right now? Well, just imagine if men were allowed multiple wives. Who do you think they'd be marrying, the rich and famous movie stars/athletes/executives or people who spend their day posting comments on Digg?
***** crazy Tom Cruise would have 40 wives and you'd have 0. Even if you could get a wife, she probably wouldn't be as attractive or intelligent as a girl you could get now (you're getting the left-overs). Face it, laws against polygamy were made to protect guys like us. - borez, on 04/28/2008, -4/+54Yep, if you're into large scale rape
- Philluminati, on 04/28/2008, -0/+40with your brothers and sisters
- StigNordas, on 04/28/2008, -3/+43"lesbian fantasies with my co-wives" Somehow I don't think that's what Joseph Smith had in mind, but you know it happens when the prairie lights go out.
- cutething, on 04/28/2008, -0/+38DING DING DING!!! We have a winner!
- 4square, on 04/28/2008, -1/+35I knew it, Chloe Sevigny made prairie dresses hot and look what happens in Texas.
- padth, on 04/28/2008, -4/+33Why should I have to expect a marriage certificate at all? Why should the government be concerning itself over my private life?
- inactive, on 04/28/2008, -2/+31These people know nothing of deodorant (its a sin?)... nuff said on that one
- stix213, on 04/28/2008, -0/+27If these guys could have just stuck to the 18+ crowd they could have stayed out of trouble forever.
- badassninja, on 04/28/2008, -0/+26Of course a man made it Lois, it's not a delicious thanksgiving dinner.
- badassninja, on 04/28/2008, -3/+27Oh and you're not? (joking! *runs away*)
- LizNovack, on 04/28/2008, -4/+28when you have a society with laws based upon religious institutions, then yes its the government's business, rightfully. people should be able to practice polyamory in peace, just don't expect a marriage certificate.
- ahawks, on 04/28/2008, -8/+31Digg needs less of divinecaroline.com.

- maelnum, on 04/28/2008, -1/+23but no /sarc tag. Can't be too sure
- VenDrake, on 04/28/2008, -0/+22Having multiple wives doesn't sound that bad; it's the multiple mother-in-laws that scare me.
- maisis00, on 04/28/2008, -0/+20Oh Please, I'm sure there are plenty of available first and second cousins to choose from if you are that uptight about your brothers and/or sisters. :)
- Jtheletter, on 04/28/2008, -2/+22Genius, read farther up. No one is defending marrying off underage kids.

The women that were held in highest regard only had sex 9 times during their entire lives - each time resulting in a child.
Basically, we're looking at people who don't know anything about sex, without lube, screwing for 5 minutes every couple years till the guy blows his wad with no oral or anal --- and that's neat? - StigNordas, on 04/28/2008, -7/+26Very sarcastic & funny.
- smacksaw, on 04/28/2008, -4/+23I dunno...she didn't make sound as bad as she was aiming for.
- RedReplicant, on 04/28/2008, -0/+17Your common sense, it thrills me. Your newsletter, etc.
- badassninja, on 04/28/2008, -8/+25So if a guy sleeps with a different girl every week or even every night he's the man. But if a guy takes care of all of those women and all the women know about the other women he is a sick pig? I don't get it.
- Motivaaator, on 04/28/2008, -0/+17In some rural African communities its working out nicely. For the men.
- stix213, on 04/28/2008, -0/+16Late night orgies? And the news has made this cult sound like a bad thing.
- Hetman, on 04/28/2008, -1/+17Here is my question why is marriage just a Christian idea. What if I have my own religion with my own Marriage rituals? The government should legally have to abide by them because of the first amendment. That is what I do not get. I agree under age marriage is wrong, but if my reilgion says I can marry multiple wifes how can the government stop it with out violating the first amendment.
- stix213, on 04/28/2008, -4/+20Ahhh, you had me in agreement until you said nothing on Cracked.com is funny.
- Jtheletter, on 04/28/2008, -0/+15I really hope you don't live in the US because you have demonstrated you do not understand the premise of our founding documents. While it is true that many laws have as a basis other religion-originated laws, it is not because the government is, or should be, legislating morality. More often historically it is because religions were the guiding institutions of man and over the millennia created and enforced rules within society. From this we have a set of "best practices" as it were upon which modern secular law has been based.
Don't conflate the two however. Today's laws are not related to past religion based laws because they seek to further those religious or moral views exclusively.
A marriage certificate from the state has no religious significance (it covers all ceremonies including no ceremony) and is instead essentially a formal contract recognized by the state as the union of two people's resources. Gender, religion, reasons for marriage, etc should all have no bearing on such an agreement with regards to the state. If a church of a specific religion chooses not to recognize a marriage, that's fine, they are a private institution. The state should be blind to such particulars outside of enforcing agreed upon standards like age of consent.
The fact that religious laws were often a pretext of modern law does not implicitly or otherwise dictate that the state should legislate morality, and in fact the constitution explicitly calls for the separation of church and state partly for this reason. - darkphenox, on 04/28/2008, -0/+15...who get to have wives, with the population of the two genders being equal there is a large amount of men who don't have wives.
- murraj2, on 04/28/2008, -1/+16Yes. Neck ties are also quite rare in the animal kingdom.
- RaspberryBarret, on 04/28/2008, -3/+17Multiple wives? How about multiple hubbies?
- RSTaichi, on 04/28/2008, -5/+19There might be something very natural about having more than 1 wife. Perhaps thats why so many civilizations historically did so?
- ancalagon73, on 04/28/2008, -0/+13"Even if you could get a wife, she probably wouldn't be as attractive or intelligent as a girl you could get now (you're getting the left-overs)."
I never ***** a 10, but one night I ***** 5 2's. - ritita, on 04/28/2008, -3/+16When you put it that way, it really does sound like the good life. Where do I turn in my passport?
- PabloMac, on 04/28/2008, -0/+12You don't say...
- Baofu, on 04/28/2008, -0/+12You never know man, you never know.
After all some things are actually convincing, orgies, no urban stress and such. - FrancoisLyon, on 04/28/2008, -3/+14And how did that work out for them?
- chiefbandit2200, on 04/28/2008, -0/+11Yeah, and it usually seems like Digg users have a hard time understanding sarcasm...
- aenima987, on 04/28/2008, -2/+13dugg for unintentional john bonham symbol in thumbnail
- garryw, on 04/28/2008, -1/+10I know, I'm LDS and my wife says "NO!" when I ask for more wives. She wont even wear the prairie dress for me. And red is her favorite color.
- fxu1989, on 04/28/2008, -0/+9I'm sorry. It's not allowed in my book.
one sausage per many buns. - Zarokima, on 04/28/2008, -3/+12Pretty well until they were killed/converted by over-zealously religious monogamists.
