- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -2/+60That's just terrible. :(
- geneticlemon, on 01/20/2009, -11/+50Wanna hear the really ***** up part? They kept on going with the show, after the kid was taken to the hospital, and the company didn't even contact the family or offer their condolences. The next day, after the kid had passed away, the only announcement they'd made was that someone had been injured (without any other specifics).
Disgusting. - FrankC10, on 01/20/2009, -3/+41I was at that show with my 7 year-old. So damn sad! I've been thanking my lucky stars it wasn't my boy... I can't imagine how that family is hurting!
- dty2010, on 01/20/2009, -0/+26I never knew digg was so anti monster truck shows.
- aufte, on 01/21/2009, -1/+25Admitting guilt? Like he had a 'drive-train release' button and aimed everything just right?
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -4/+27KIDS TICKETS STILL JUST 5 BUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSsssssssss
- aufte, on 01/21/2009, -0/+23From the article:
The truck was not in the show Saturday and phone calls to the home of the owner, Kelvin Ramer of Watsonville, Calif., did not go through Sunday.
Don't twist it around. - Petrarch1603, on 01/21/2009, -0/+19It is normal for the show to go on when tragedy strikes at major events. The reason being that if they cancel the show then you have several thousand people going to the parking lot and getting in their cars and trying to get out. It sounds kind of cold, but they do this to ensure that ambulances can easily get in and out. If a tragedy like this happened to you, you would want to the show to go on. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1955_Le_Mans_disaster
- digichris, on 01/20/2009, -0/+17Has this really ever happened before??
- EmitStop, on 01/20/2009, -2/+19Sorry, this is a dupe.
Not sure why the related by keyword would catch it, but the dupe checker wouldn't. - Hetman, on 01/20/2009, -1/+14That happened to me last night. I submitted one of Penn& Tellers *****. And it did not come up in the dupe checker. But it did come up in the related by keyword. Anyways I always wondered this. If something was made popular over a year ago. Is it really that bad if it is submitted again. I mean there are lots of new users every year that probably has not seen the article before.
- yocouchdigga, on 01/20/2009, -3/+15Tragic, seriously, I can't even comprehend what that family's going through. I'm going to monster trucks on saturday for the general lulz of going to a monster truck show but *****, this is so messed up. I've never been before and I'm tempted not to go now...
- ShingoEX, on 01/21/2009, -0/+11So? If someone dies in a car wreck on the highway, is that reason enough to completely shut down all transportation?
No...you just move on. - str3ama, on 01/20/2009, -13/+23That's nuts, didn't know people still went to Monster Truck shows.
- arkaycee, on 01/21/2009, -0/+9I'm not a fan of monster truck rallies (don't dislike them, they're just not really on my radar screen), but to all those who say they must be stopped due to one death (assuming this is the only spectator death, or it's very rare -- I couldn't find any more in the first 3 pages of a "monster truck rally spectator killed" google search), ... isn't that like saying "someone drowned in a sailboat accident yesterday. I can't believe people were out sailing today!" (or similarly for car accidents, bicycle accidents, horseback riding accidents, etc.)
- muleskinner, on 01/21/2009, -5/+14I hope all of the ***** making light of this story burn in a fire.
Honestly, anonymity on the internet is not an excuse for throwing human decency out the window.
So to all of the ***** making jokes, shame on you. - tbone8978, on 01/21/2009, -1/+9Looks like Gravedigger lived up to his name...
Yeah, i realize that this comment is in poor taste - ultimusgt, on 01/20/2009, -1/+9wow thats horrible :[ :/
- aquafire, on 01/20/2009, -0/+7Once?
- digichris, on 01/20/2009, -0/+7i'll agree with you on that, maybe some type of hockey-style plexiglas around the rim of the arena... but still a part could come flying off and go up and out...
but again, freak accident. (as far as i know, never really heard about deaths in monster truck crowds before) - dncarlson, on 01/21/2009, -4/+10I hope the family will be able to pickup the pieces after this tragedy.
- twiztidsinz, on 01/20/2009, -0/+6Piccard weeps for the young one.
- digichris, on 01/20/2009, -1/+7not really face-palm material.. it's not like this ***** happens all the time, it was a freak accident.
- vtnerd, on 01/21/2009, -0/+6It's the same "think of the children" ***** that happens every time there's an accident. A child gets shot with a gun and all the retards run around saying "ban guns" because a parent wasn't being responsible.
Giant machines running almost entirely out of control on highly combustible fuel is dangerous? I had no idea. /s
It's like going to the dolphin show and getting pissed because you sat too close and got wet, except much more tragic. - je12u, on 01/21/2009, -0/+6This is a wheelie terrible story:(
- sv650touring, on 01/21/2009, -1/+6My grandmother once got into an accident that was the other person's fault. She started apologizing out of politeness or confusion. Final result: she got faulted with the accident because she said she was sorry. These days she probably would have been sued as well.
Flowers and apologies are seen as admissions of guilt, and are best left until the dust has settled.
This is the real world we live in, not some after school special where an apology makes everything right. - Hetman, on 01/21/2009, -0/+5Same thing can be said about all sports and all Micheal bay movies or for that matter most movies. But that does not make the people who watch it ignorant.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -3/+8the first word was redundant
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4I live near Tacoma. I believe every show was sold out, which is kind of news itself because I had no idea people even went to these shows anymore.
Poor kid. I saw a picture of him on the Seattle news take right before he was hit, posing with his dad. Cute kid. =( Picture of him at this link: http://www.king5.com/localnews/stories/NW_012009WA ... - DrummerAndrew, on 01/21/2009, -1/+5I've had a few good times at Monster Jam. Take your gf, she'll think it's terrible, and end up enjoying the ***** out of it. You just can't beat a huge truck destroying ***** 80s cars.
Poor kid. - supermanly, on 01/21/2009, -1/+5I think this is where your territory ends Pedobear and where Necrobear's territory begins.
- muleskinner, on 01/21/2009, -1/+5So, you are making an argument against simple decency? You actually think you could ever come out ahead with such an argument?
"I don't want to be decent, I want to be funny so people will like me!" - mablung, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4I don't live in Seattle. Good job jakenotso1337.
- Silentnite85, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4If your getting that far into it, your third reason was a sentence fragment. As well as your fourth reason second sentence. Again with your fifth reason. You could have easily used a colon, or any other number of grammatical devices to get your point across without being a hypocritical bastard.
/more technically correct ***** - jjheath, on 01/21/2009, -0/+4i hate you.
- tilttv, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3That's just a great example of how effed-up the US legal system is, when you can't even call to apologize or express condolences.
- muleskinner, on 01/21/2009, -1/+4I'm sorry, but you are ***** scum.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3A law should be made making moving parts illegal on monster trucks.
- inactive, on 01/21/2009, -1/+4pieces (of the monster truck) were probably put up by the family on ebay before the body was even cold.
- PathmarkPolice, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3AMEN!
- EvilFerret, on 01/21/2009, -1/+4So you're driving your kid to the ice cream store late at night before it closes.....A drunk driver slams into you running a red light. Your child is killed........but you survive. Are you telling me you would put the blame upon yourself, rather than the drunk driver?
- So1o, on 01/21/2009, -0/+3Dugg for Gravedigger
- BrokenVisage, on 01/21/2009, -3/+5SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!... Bloody Sunday :(
- mablung, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3I wonder what your corner of hell will look like.
- Meocross, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2Natural Selection is not so "natural" after all.
- ShingoEX, on 01/21/2009, -1/+3Kids get killed in car accidents all the time...
Should people keep kids out of cars from now on? Even better...due to the sheer number of traffic fatalities each year, LET'S BAN CARS!!!!!
***** happens. Accidents happen. Deal. - Gir53457, on 01/21/2009, -0/+2There are safety standards, and they're improved every season. It was a freak accident and there's no reason to imply it was of negligence.
