- mrfreeziexp, on 10/10/2007, -2/+99Yeah, Drew is going to be a great host for the PiR.
- Flunk, on 10/10/2007, -3/+91The producers were clearly telling Drew Carey to persuade the kid to gamble at the end so they would get out of paying him.
- Jeveran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+63A little less than $650k after taxes... but it's still better than a boot to the head.
- D3koy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+62Notice his dad shut right up after the divorce comment?
- JoHnxXxKIddxXx, on 10/10/2007, -2/+57his dad looks like a Chubby Richard Gere.. lol
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+49I love that graphic they use to build up suspense. It's freaking crazy.
- DarthMacgyver, on 10/10/2007, -0/+42I think he will be a Great Host of the PiR. When the Kid one the million, Drew was more excited than he was, You can tell the guy is having fun. That will show when he is doing the PiR.
- rhinopig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39It was no first millionaire on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, that guy was like a trivia ninja. He confidently and quickly answered every question without using a lifeline, and then used his 'phone a friend' to call his dad and tell him he'd won a million dollars, before he had even said the answer.
- Poland, on 10/10/2007, -0/+38I'll take ANY free money for college, thanks.
- Sandurz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+36And much better than 46 camera cuts and Howie Mandel blabbering about ***** God knows what.
- Hayes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+37I wonder how many of that 28% actually know what a feminist is.

Drew really is awesome on his feet and will do good with whatever show he's hosting. - fbombs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30Now you just need to invest it:
Buy 1 million dollars worth of Lotto tickets - Conway, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30Looked as if he wanted to go for the $10M. Lucky bastard!
- Jergens, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26"I love you so much...I love you so much...I love you so much"
She probably never said that so many times in a row BEFORE he was a millionaire. :)

- 2gig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18a million dollars (which almost certainly is NOT paid out in one lump sum) is chicken feed for a nationally televised TV show. It's why there are so many reality and game shows -- compared to an ER or a Heroes, it's nada. There's no conspiracy or attempt to not let contestants win. In fact, when "who wants to be a millionaire" was first brought to America, there was a problem in that (believe it or not) Americans played much more conservatively than Brits and it was boring. You WANT the contestant to win, if you're making the show. Not every contestant, or the tension goes away. But a healthy number of them.
- dmurray14, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Aw, cheer up emo kid.
- Ebeniz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14that's funny since Canada doesn't pay ANY tax on winnings... and we have free health care
- masterskill, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12Drew's laugh rocks.
- morsosky, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14his mom was all excited bc hes going to med school. 10 million and he wouldnt have had to go to med school. 1 million, thats a different story. either way, hopefully he doesnt go to med school, big waste of time i feel. finished 2 years and i feel like my life has been flushed away.
- monospaced, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Moms, dude. Don't you have one?
- monospaced, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8STFU. That kid, Jamie, did win $1 Million. And out of the 10,000 contestants who will go on that show (if it makes it that far) I'm sure more than 1 of them will win money. It's not a fictional chance, and the money doesn't not get you out of being a bitch of the system. You're the biggest bitch for being so pessimistic and jealous.
- jackmaninov, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Did anyone else read the title as 'The Power of Ten Inches"? That would be a hilarious premise for a game show :P
- NSResponder, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Well, with that attitude, I predict you'll go far... All the way to the welfare office.
-jcr - bravecoward, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Wouldn't every contestant on the show be making their first appearance on tv?
- CinaMichele, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6where can I sign up?
- adam.skinner, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I happened to flip through to this channel before going to bed, when Carey was like "You know, I didn't even rehearse this, we didn't think this was going to happen, so I'm just going to wing it."
What stuck me about this is Carey's shilling for the company. "Remember", he said about 5 or 6 times, "You already have 100k. Your college is paid for...no matter what you do now you have that..."
It was painfully obvious that he was trying to goad him into risking that 1M for a 1 in 11 shot at 10m. His mom was like "Don't do it!", and he finally backed away from it.
Carey's network handlers obviously wanted him to push the kid. They lost nearly a million dollars when they failed. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8Dude, just shut the ***** up. Not every single show on this planet has paid actors for their first show. How do you know it was his first appearance on TV? Just because he was the first contestant on a new show? Seriously, just go back to slashdot.
- Djerrid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6You can watch the entire episode here: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/powerof10/video/index.php?id=1&set=2
- george@CASE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6then really you should get out of medschool since it doesn't appear to be the right career path for you, if you're burning out after only 2 years. that's not even med proper.
- lavoie0ca, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6who is proud of someone for losing?
- Ebeniz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6do you seriously think CBS is paying the 1million? CBS takes out an insurance policy.
- scottman666, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4that's how casinos make their money.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9No, it wouldn't. You're just a flaming homosexual who loves the *****.
- fbombs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Doctors aren't rich. Insurance companies are.

- rednorth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2this boy just became a man. well done son
- ahpro, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2OMG I was ***** myself for him, shouting at the computer screen not to gamble for the $10,000,000 lol!
- TropHibisicus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wow, I am so happy for that kid. Not only is he cute but now he is rich. I hope he does go to med school and uses his money on something good. Seemed like such a down to earth guy too. Good for him.
- grimw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Check my math, but $900,000 plus the $100,000 he had already won equates to $1,000,000. You meant to say that they lost $900,000 in ADDITION to $100,000 (see above math for details).
- kinseyincanada, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1and how many people die in America from NOT having health care.
