One user reported it to the mod (Page 3) and mod not only ignored but it appears the user is banned as well - dezweber, on 11/21/2008, -1/+167Not much of a departure from those kids who encouraged the teenager in the UK to jump to his death from a building. Very sad.
- quomen, on 11/21/2008, -4/+159Everyone on the internet is a jackass...
- kismetropolis, on 11/21/2008, -2/+137This is why I always recoil a little at how often people point and laugh and make fun of people for being "emo".
You never can tell when somebody "acting emo" is really, genuinely suicidal and depressed. I can't imagine how someone could even be so cruel as to tell someone to go ahead and get on with it. - katieitak, on 11/21/2008, -1/+130It breaks my heart to think that his father will read this and wish that he could tell his son that he wasn't a disappointment, but he wont be able to. Suicide is a truly tragic thing.

- CandyJunkie creates thread telling Misc. he'll overdose himself again on drugs live on Justin.tv
- CandyJunkie posts the amount of drugs he's going to take
- Mods don't take it seriously because of his past trolling
- People egg him on
- CandyJunkie posts a copied suicide note
- People keep egging him on
- He pops the pills and goes to sleep
- He breathes for a few hours, people think he's going to be alright and keep joking and trash talking on his JTV log.
- Some time later many people realize he was not moving.
- I find his personal details through E-detectivery, I figure out his name and number and location.
- Personal details posted on Misc. I request people to call the cops because I live in India and had no way to make International calls all by myself.
- People tell me he's a troll and nobody calls. Staberella especially is quite a huge cynic and says that he wasn't going to die on that kind of drugs, she insists nothing is going to happen and that people should just gtfo of the thread.
- I send an email to Miami Police on their official email on their website, Email not functioning!
- I call Miami Police from my dad's phone and speak to at least three cops and one person from the 911 line (whatever it is) for over 8 minutes about the situation, the people there do not take the case seriously and tell me to call the sheriff of his county, and give me the sheriff's number even after I told them I was speaking from a different country and that this was an emergency.
- I post the sheriff's number on the Misc. thread
- People tell me to quit worrying and that they're 100% sure its a loop and he's just fraudin'
-jjlee138 (Rep this dude) calls the Broward County Sheriff's office and speaks to them about the situation along with a couple of other people. By the time I called, it turns out 3 people had already called them about it.
- People wait for the cops to bust in on the JTV cam.
- Some people start thinking nobody called the cops, at least 5 more people call the cops, they were told the cops were on it
- 25 minutes after the first call to the cops, the cops bust in. They cover the webcam
- People speculating whether he's dead or not
- At this point of time a lot of people start deleting/editing their posts everywhere. PM me for the original thread content.
- Friends post messages on his myspace worried about him, no response from him.
- His best friend posts a thread on the Misc. and informs the people that he's dead.
- Some people still think its a bluff - GregFD3S, on 11/21/2008, -7/+129"To Whom It May Concern,
I am going to leave this for whoever stumbles across my bookmarks later on.
I hate myself and I hate living. I think that if someone who knows me
reads this they will know who I am. So I will leave this unsigned. I am
an a@#hole. I have let everyone down and I feel as though I will never
change or never improve. I am in love with a girl and I know that I am
not good enough for her. I have come
to believe that my life has all been meaningless. I keep trying and I
keep failing. I have thought about and attempted suicide many times in
the past. I used to think of my failure as some mystical way of telling
me that I was really meant for something meaningful. The only thing I
dread, besides the pain, is the way my family will suffer. I do not want
my mother or father to think that it was anything they did that lead me
to kill myself. I never really had any plans of leaving a note. I
thought that I would not be able to describe why I want to do this and I
am right. There is no way to tell you or anyone else why I dread every
new day. My father had such high expectations for me and tried to give
me every opportunity to improve upon myself. I let him down. I think
that I am a major disappointment to him. I have a job but I?m always broke
and I am in college but barely, I show up to class but that?s about it.
I want my life to end. I am tired of f@#$ing up everything. I
am tired of people always telling me that they do not like me. I am
tired of trying to be decent. I hope that someone finds this post and I
hope that my parents know that I f@#$ed up not them. It is my fault I
screwed up my own life.
The hate that rages within me, rages not for those I love so dearly or
those who have crossed my path.
This hate rages full force towards me and only me.
I have long forgiven those who've hurt me, but I have not and cannot
come to terms to forgive myself for the things I have done to myself, and
the things I've done to hurt those in my life.
You have all touched my life in one way or another,
especially those whom I call family.
I cannot tell you how sorry I am for ending my life the way I did. I
hope that you can all find it in your heart to see it as way for me not
suffering anymore and that I am finally at rest with myself, for being at
rest with the guilt that constantly ate at me for so long.
Please forgive me all for taking my own life so early. I tried so hard
to fight against this strong battle. I have reached out for help so many
times, and yet I believe, I was turned away because of the things I did,
that it is a punishment I am willing to take, for I know that being who I am
has only brought myself and others pain.
I love you all and will forever live within the memories we created.
Forgive me.
Love always and forever,
As for my signature I will leave you with a quote so that if anyone
reads this they will know it's me, "Can?t feel pain if your dead? Just Saying"" - iellie, on 11/21/2008, -13/+123I dugg this because it's important to see the effects of online bullying. Kids today have got to realize the repercussions of their comments. People on the Internet are real people even if you don't know them personally they are real. It seems kids today don't see it that way.
- GoKings, on 11/21/2008, -3/+99Before people harp on the forum users for what they did, you should know that this kid had started numerous threads before with stupid things like "I just took 4 xanax bars, what movie should I watch?" People thought he was just trolling for attention. Members on the board contacted all his friends through MySpace, and many actually called the police in that area. I'm not a member, but I happened to be just going through some posts (after that thread about that ugly girlfriend I've been checking it) and even I thought it was just some guy joking. Almost nobody in the thread actually thought he was serious, and took action when they found out it was. It's not even close to the kids that egged on that guy to jump off the building.

http://www.livevideo.com/video/F29B145FA9F149DA8DE ... - lozzobear, on 11/21/2008, -2/+69That's the same forum that spent 70 pages telling some guy how ugly his girlfriend was. Lovely people, bodybuilders.
- PamalaLauren, on 11/21/2008, -1/+67I've always taken online suicide threats seriously. Just two months ago on a forum I attended a woman from a city nearby threatened to kill herself. Several forum members who lived closer than I called the cops and went to visit her. Luckily she had passed out before doing what she said she would, and I think she went into rehab soon after (she was high at the time of the threat). I'd hate to not take it seriously though and find out she had killed herself. We spent most of that night trying to talk her out of it, not goading her into it.
- kismetropolis, on 11/21/2008, -2/+64I fear it's the beginning of a trend. This is the second time I've read a news story about someone going on webcam to commit suicide.
The last time it happened, it was a guy in england, and the chatroom he went in egged him on and encouraged him (though it was an insult chat, which I suppose he picked so they would urge him to do it). - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -4/+61This guy said he was going to do it a bunch of times but never went through with it thats why everyone thought he was joking this time. The police went to his house before but apparently they didn't do anything.
Everyone wants to point fingers but there was nothing anyone including the police could do, he was determined to take his life. - IIECONII, on 11/21/2008, -42/+99For anyone who wants video of the guy while the cops bust in, here 'ya go.

No matter how down you get, there's always something you can do about it besides killing yourself. ALWAYS.
For more insight, here's Monty Python: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buqtdpuZxvk - FranMag, on 11/21/2008, -9/+66Extremely disturbing. Are the youth just so numb they can't have empathy for people?
- Swivelstick, on 11/21/2008, -0/+55People who chant jump, jump, jump.. Isn't just an internet phenomena.
- kingfoot, on 11/21/2008, -4/+58which is why the emo movement is ***** stupid.
it literally is preventing people from really asking if someone is ok and possibly saving their life by getting them to help. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -6/+55that bodybuilding forum is ***** up, 4chan copy cats
- Rowan187, on 11/21/2008, -7/+51I watched this from nearly the beginning, most of us thought he was just joking around...
- NihilFist, on 11/21/2008, -1/+43Apparently he hasn't. The guy's lucky /b/ didn't find out about him before he killed himself... otherwise he would have murdered his entire family before offing himself.
- mjbk24, on 11/21/2008, -1/+43What the hell does it have to do with being Liberal or Conservative?
- standinsilence, on 11/21/2008, -0/+41How do I get to the other pages?
- ophello, on 11/21/2008, -6/+464chan is the ***** of the internet. Many of the people there either need serious psychological help or should remove themselves from the gene pool.
- Pinkshisno, on 11/21/2008, -3/+42Just once would I like to see a Digg comment section not transform into a political debate and insults.
- takeo1775, on 11/21/2008, -6/+43I'm surprised it wasnt 4chan.
- egoactor, on 11/21/2008, -1/+36What's most sickening is that even in death, some people are behaving in a disgusting manner.
Here is the guys myspace blog: http://www.myspace.com/forgettingthepastagain His mom his left him a heartfelt message on his latest blog post, but just above it is a link containing disgusting images unrelated to this by some guy called Ryan_Duffy (do not click it), posted in the full knowledge that the guy was dead. I pity the poor woman if she sees how depraved some people posting comments are.
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog. ... - LloydBentsen, on 11/21/2008, -1/+36It's probably routine when you have to break down a door to have your weapon drawn.
- ThatEvilGuy, on 11/21/2008, -5/+39No you see, those aren't bodybuilders, those are weak ***** and losers that want to be bodybuilders, the real bodybuilders are in the gym and don't waste their time, like you said telling some guy how ugly his girl is.
- blobzorz, on 11/21/2008, -15/+47Seriously? Someone's dead and your saying that it was good? Insane.
- thediz, on 11/21/2008, -26/+58There's a link to it in the article, but here's a forum post with a picture of the cops/paramedic and the busted down door.
Also the suicide note.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?ref ...
I hate to be an ass about it, but like most of these cases, he seems to be in it for the attention.
Sad nonetheless. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -2/+32RIP guy. I personally have major depression, had it all my life, many many many times I wanted to end it, but it isn't brain surgery, you do it or you don't. I have been on the edge many times, and didnt go through with it, even admitting myself into the emergency on a suicide hold. When you hear the words 'suffer' from depression, people who have never dealt with it, it really is suffering. Medication helps but I go off of it more then on, I have gone so far to the edge after some ***** that triggered it about 1 1/2 years ago, nothing really seems that bad anymore. I am 38, I still deal with it, but really things do get better, the older you get the more you see what is important. It is too bad he made that choice, but it was his choice. But I also do not put myself in situations that will trigger it such as relationships. But my sympathy goes out to his friends and especially family.
- Mooco, on 11/21/2008, -5/+35The sad aspect is that *is* a continually growing trend. Not only does it get glorified, but for some of these people its entirely for a twisted sense of attention.
But... the suicidal death of a family member or a friend can only truly be understood by the family and friends. It does not need to be plastered across the news, doesn't work as an 'example' and especially doesn't need to be anywhere near politics.
Also keep in mind that ever-present concept of Darwinism. Not saying they *should* go, but perhaps it better that that sort of neurological chemistry not be passed down.
Thus, I'll be digging this story down, so that it is not seen as something popular, and something to be glorified in any negative or positive sense. - bjornski, on 11/21/2008, -3/+33Yes. Stuff like this has become humorous to many of them.
- mailthev, on 11/21/2008, -1/+30apparently this guy had a history of threatening to commit suicide, so people probably thought this was just another of those histrionic acts from an attention seeking teen
Im not condoning their behaviour but if you put it in context, it isnt as evil as some of you claim it to be - FrozenGonad, on 11/21/2008, -0/+29How could it be the "beginning" of a trend? Only a few months ago I read about people encouraging a kid to jump off a building. This wasn't via the Internet, this was face to face. After he jumped they ran past the police barriers so they could take photos of the corpse with their mobile phone cameras.
None of this is new. It's different that it's on the Internet. But it's not that different.
Some people just suck. - FrozenGonad, on 11/21/2008, -4/+33Read some history books. This is not unique to this or any other generation.
Move on, nothing to see here. - maliath, on 11/21/2008, -0/+28Does anyone else remember when Emo was a term used in the mid to late 1990's for people that loved indie music groups like Fugazi or Sunny Day Real Estate? When the HELL did that term evolve into a replacement for "goths" or people that love and listen to mainstream post-punk look-alike bands?
- xeyne, on 11/21/2008, -5/+33meh. he should of seen this first
http://crap.fi/archive/5783.gif - DrunkenPirate34, on 11/21/2008, -1/+28Yea but why can't I be sad because I have to walk around cutting my feet all day.
I don't get the rationalization that "you don't have it that bad, there is someone worse out there". My problems are problems to me. I appreciate that I don't have it as bad as other people but I shouldn't forget my problems just because someone else has it worse. - newms32, on 11/21/2008, -2/+27Nope, just /b/.
- stanza28, on 11/21/2008, -0/+24Be very, very thankful. 'Cuz if it is not already apparent, some of us struggle with these demons every (long) day.
And all of our suicide notes are practically identical- we forgive others for their transgressions, but not ourselves. We hate ourselves, all the while worrying about how others will deal with our absence.
Just last night I wrote one of these notes, complete with the passwords to my bank accounts, computers, and location of my will. With the help of all the support we are taught to marshal, I made it to morning. Before I put the note in the shredder earlier, my tears became laughter. Not because my note was a cliche (which it was- they all are, to a degree) but because in that moment, you feel so alone that you forget that there are those who would drop anything/everything to remind you that you are not a piece of garbage and that the mistakes you have made are vastly more dire within your own skewed perception. And that you are never alone. And you almost died because some mis-wired part of your brain took the helm at a really bad time!
Not one person helped this young man when he most needed it.
I have never been so thankful for the individuals who keep me going, or more aware of the capacity humans have for denial. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -0/+24Yes, I remember that. They were shouting to this poor kid "how far will you bounce?". It was in the UK. Up till that point the Police were actually making some progress in talking him down, but after all the jeering and shouting he just did it. And instead of being shocked at their actions they just wanted to take pictures.
