- Istanbullfrog, on 03/30/2008, -17/+294The sad part is that it seems Larry was successfully fending off the bullying and standing up for himself. Unfortunately there is no defense when somebody brings a gun into the picture :(
- DeskFlyer, on 03/30/2008, -26/+282What the flying ***** is wrong with people these days? What, you can't take a little teasing in the form of a gay person hitting on you even though they know you are straight as an arrow? So that justifies killing them, even though you were the one bullying them in the first place?
I'm ***** disgusted with this world. - walruspanzer, on 03/30/2008, -128/+340Most people who are intensely homophobic are aroused subconsciously by homoeroticism. People who are more tolerant are more secure with their sexuality. So if you go out of the way to hate the gays then you're a gay.
- alanocu, on 03/30/2008, -29/+178"Straight Americans need... an education of the heart and soul. They must understand - to begin with - how it can feel to spend years denying your own deepest truths, to sit silently through classes, meals, and church services while people you love toss off remarks that brutalize your soul." - That was printed in The Advocate ten years ago. Damnit America, are we really listening to the Sally Kerns of the world? Are we really that ignorant? Are we so threatened by the gay men, women, and young adults on this planet that we find justification to kill them?
- robthom, on 03/30/2008, -10/+106Isn't this a dupe. Or is this another homosexual 8th grader?
- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -34/+127What about the kids who get shot that ARENT gay...no coverage on the 6 year old girl who got shot a while back right...
- PhonicUK, on 03/30/2008, -19/+106Very correct, its called Reaction Formation. Adams et al did an excellent study on this many years ago.
Reaction formation is what happens where someone is so upset by their own feelings or attitudes (I.e. being gay, or even having normal homosexual thoughts that happen to many perfectly straight men) that they react aggressively in response to this, when they are actually angry with themselves.

I hate homophobes with a passion. Incidences like these only serve to lessen my faith in mankind and common goodness - inactive, on 03/30/2008, -14/+100I'm sure this dude will be on a steady diet of ***** in jail.
- fitriidayu, on 03/30/2008, -33/+112i think you're gay
- anarchyinthekr, on 03/30/2008, -5/+80never bring high heels to a gun fight
- 2468ben, on 03/30/2008, -6/+78Don't worry, just hang here out with us. Digg loves everyone, whether they're homosexual Mac users or straight ones.
- hazard99, on 03/30/2008, -40/+106I have no issue with homosexuals, but I feel that dressing up like the opposite sex, and being over flamboyant/masculine is obnoxious (Not to be confused that I hate or wish them harm). I feel the same way towards straight "manly men," or overly prissy women. Its just drawing attention to yourself so you can be different, or be the "cool guy/girl."
- mythril, on 03/30/2008, -13/+66"And when the other boys made fun of him, he would boldly tease them right back by flirting with them. That may have been what got him killed."
Something tells me that fighting back isn't what got him killed, I would venture a guess that it was the homophobic killer that did it, *****. - robthom, on 03/30/2008, -34/+84I guess further provoking them wasn't the most successful strategy in the end.
- Mercedes383, on 03/30/2008, -3/+5210/10 for completely missing the point. It happens when someone is upset with their own feelings or ergs. It doesn't mean that everyone is subject to it.
- Darkhacker, on 03/30/2008, -5/+53So if a less than attractive woman hits on you, are you going to "punch the ***** out of her"?
- s1ade, on 03/30/2008, -17/+65So by your own logic, you're homophobic?
- GrammerPants, on 03/30/2008, -5/+52If you find women attractive and a man hits on you, explain to me how this effects you in anyway?
- apzdsx, on 03/30/2008, -8/+53Yeah, he should have stayed quiet and allowed himself to be mocked and teased daily for being who he is.
He shouldn't have stood up for himself and should have just gone to live the life of a closet homosexual who solicits sex in airport bathrooms. - morninglorii, on 03/30/2008, -3/+47When you say "some of the blame needs to be placed upon him", I don't think 'blame' is the word you're looking for. That implies that at least part of the blame should be lifted from the person who killed him. Instead, I think the correct thing to say is that he acted in a manner that attracted trouble rather than avoided it. He deserves no blame for what happened, but he could've probably acted in a manner that would've made it less likely to happen.
That being said, I support him 100% for the way he acted. I respect that he didn't back down, despite the ridicule and danger. - Langford, on 03/30/2008, -7/+50A psycho shoots someone, and you're blaming the victim?
- Myonosken, on 03/30/2008, -15/+57Its not provoking. Why the ***** should he have to stop because a group of intolerant bastards tell him to stop?
- DeadlyAlpaca, on 03/30/2008, -6/+48"So is it really that bad of a thing?"
Yes. Yes it is you *****. - neuromachine, on 03/30/2008, -15/+56Your hate for homophobes makes me think you might secretly be one, too.
- Rbstr, on 03/30/2008, -14/+55The the KKK is justified in killing that black guy?
'Cause that's the implication. - offspring06, on 03/30/2008, -8/+45Your right. I'm a straight man and I don't hate gay people. I think they should be allowed to get married if they want to.
- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -3/+40Yes, but you're not gonna get pissed off that other people enjoy pea soup, are you?
- offspring06, on 03/30/2008, -3/+39According to some ancient outdated book. Who cares if people of the same sex love each other.
- Duggan360, on 03/30/2008, -3/+39Must of been some coverage if you know about it =]
- Chebsi, on 03/30/2008, -15/+51...pretty old for an 8th grader.
- wexmajor, on 03/30/2008, -26/+62Kid's balls were too big for his own good.
- GrammerPants, on 03/30/2008, -12/+48This isn't 100% true. But it is a trend that mostly comes from shame.
- Andyl194, on 03/30/2008, -3/+38Reminds me of american beauty.
- jmhyer51, on 03/30/2008, -1/+35Believing that he didn't have the right to dress up like that means you have an opinion.
Believing it is correct to shoot someone to prove a point make you a *****. - mrsteveman1, on 03/30/2008, -8/+41Likes and dislikes of food are MASSIVELY simpler than sexual orientation and attraction. The fact that you even made that comparison means you don't understand the subject.
It also doesn't start with hating something, the being gay part comes first, the hate comes later when you refuse to accept the fact you're gay. - Monarch818, on 03/30/2008, -7/+40You're right, you are being dugg down. Why? Because he had as much right to wear anything approved by the school's dress code as any other kid, male or female. That is NOT flaunting! That is Self Expression! If other kids or people in general are not tolerant, 100% blame should fall on the intolerant person for being an ignorant bigot!
I think I was the only kid in my school growing up that stuck up for the kids that got picked on. The bullies in school didn't pick on others when I was around, because I'd walk right up to them and give them a right hook in the jaw, and it didn't matter if they were twice my size, I was never scared of them. And guess what, I wore earings and makeup too, and NO ONE said anything to me about it. Because unlike some effeminate guys and wimpy nerds who got picked on, I was the one who planted kisses with my knuckles, because I HATED bullies and bigots! - XSVFizz, on 03/30/2008, -2/+35Well, nobody is really expecting a kid in middle school to bring a gun to school and shoot someone in the back of the head for being openly gay.
- inactive, on 03/30/2008, -3/+35dude there are no gays in iran...duh
- Masticity, on 03/30/2008, -2/+33theres a huge gay gang population in san fran and oakland.
- GramarNatzi, on 03/30/2008, -5/+36Hold on... you're saying it's his fault for not submitting to the bullies like he was supposed to? By that logic, anyone who stands up to the utter ***** of this world is a fool in your eyes?
- spanglegluppet, on 03/30/2008, -7/+37...there are straight Mac users?
- redcolumbine, on 03/30/2008, -4/+34I'm surprised so few people have picked up on this. It's not the dead person who did the murdering, and no amount of whining "he was asking for it" shifts the blame off of the murderer. Weren't the Native Americans "asking for it" by not getting off their traditional fishing grounds? The Jews, by not packing up and fleeing?
Wake up, folks. Just because someone having the guts to be who they are angers those who don't even have the guts to FACE who they are, it doesn't mean that the heartful are to blame for the actions of the heartless. - xstarsprinklesx, on 03/30/2008, -1/+30Middle school should not be analogous to a KKK rally. Granted, middle school is hell, but a KKK rally's purpose is to promote hatred. A school is meant to be a safe place for kids to learn not only academics, but acceptance (or at the very least, tolerance) of all types of people and how to interact with them, since that's what life is largely about. To imply that someone deserves punishment for trying to increase the boundaries of what people, especially impressionable kids, will accept as okay in our society, is exactly why those boundaries continue to be so rigid even when our society pretends to be open-minded.
- Jonmad17, on 03/30/2008, -3/+31We need to get proper gay rights here before we pressure other people to do so. That would be hypocritical. They can't even get married in the U.S. yet!
- TripcodeMel, on 03/30/2008, -2/+30As Ron White put it -- Isn't that the most useless thing ever? Being afraid of *gay people*?
- katana2k, on 03/30/2008, -2/+29I know, i recently went to a reggae concert in jamaica where every performer spent the first 10 minutes on stage talking about how much they hate/kill gay people. honestly, why does anyone give a ***** about homosexuality?
- TuffDadSF, on 03/30/2008, -2/+29you have no idea what you are talking about. i was born gay and knew it around the age of six. don't talk about ***** you know nothing about, ok?
- mhaus, on 03/30/2008, -1/+28@icemanex
do you really have to say "***** you" in every comment you post?
honestly, you're a dumbass and I can't take anything you say seriously. - mundus, on 05/15/2008, -2/+28and I think you might be too!
