This breaks my heart. - CourageWulf, on 11/02/2009, -3/+160"Kordeza met Jeliazko in the playground of her gypsy school when he rescued her from bullies. Their daughter was conceived within a week. " Sounds like that hero was quick to cash in on his reward.
- elijahyossie, on 11/02/2009, -8/+159There are so many things wrong with an 11 year old giving birth to a 19 year old's baby.
- freedomtickler, on 11/02/2009, -7/+119That isn't right.
- Aliwalla, on 11/03/2009, -2/+105I'm not defending the situation or anything, but 300 or 400 years ago this would have been par the course.
- shauntacular, on 11/03/2009, -7/+77Stay classy Bulgaria.
- socivitus, on 11/03/2009, -0/+69Come with me if you want to live.
- UnFriendlyFire, on 11/03/2009, -5/+72I call shenanigans, she doesn't look like she's 11, more like 15.
- SelfArchitect, on 11/03/2009, -1/+61more like cum with me if you want to live.
- apackofmonkeys, on 11/03/2009, -4/+58Well if she got pregnant, she obviously hit puberty early, and probably looks older than the average 11-year-old.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 11/03/2009, -2/+52A tremendous amount of cognitive development and mental maturation takes place during the teenage years. On average, there's a MUCH bigger difference in maturity levels between 11 and 19 than there would be between 18 and 50. An 11-year-old is still a child in the vast majority of cases; an 18-yr-old is an adult.
- mehan, on 11/03/2009, -2/+47Why is that so shocking? They're ***** gypsies.
Anybody who's lived anywhere around a large gypsy population would understand. - bikes2work, on 11/03/2009, -0/+40I arrived in America's airport with clothings, US dollars, and a jar of gypsy tears to protect me from AIDS.
- TomKarpik, on 11/03/2009, -1/+38"I am not going back to school - I am a mother now."
Bad choice, girl. - Hardataq, on 11/03/2009, -1/+37Exactly why was a 19 year-old hanging around a children's playground in the first place? I smell a set-up!
- zip000, on 11/03/2009, -2/+35It breaks my heart, but I also find it to be very disturbing. It isn't a toy; it's a person. Just because she said that doesn't mean she really meant it, but it has all sorts of very negative connotations for me. It isn't a game.
- shanealeslie, on 11/03/2009, -3/+35It only became wrong in the past 200 years or so. The expression 'Old enough to bleed, old enough to breed.' used to be pretty much the way things worked, marry off the daughters as soon as they could have kids.
- Paranor01, on 11/03/2009, -0/+30Not that I disagree, but not all adults are grown up either.
- Hetman, on 11/03/2009, -7/+35Traditional marriage FTW. Women these days are ruining traditional marriages. Feminists actually wanting to get an education and perhaps a job. That is complete rubbish.
- 11oops, on 11/03/2009, -0/+27When the 11 year old is quoted as saying "I'm not going to play with toys any more - I have a new toy now" it's obvious that there is a huge maturity gap (physical as well as mental) between the 11 year old girl and the 18 year old women.
- DarkGerbil, on 11/02/2009, -2/+29I hope you make it out okay, Violeta.
- DankBuddz, on 11/03/2009, -3/+29Eh, she looks at least 12.
- mustafya, on 11/03/2009, -1/+27Abstinence doesn't mean not having sex-ed. It means to abstain from sex. More accurately this would be proof that hiding sex from kids completely doesn't work.
- Foxprowl, on 11/03/2009, -3/+27Sounds like they both got gypped.
Ah...Roma - Rovalf, on 11/03/2009, -1/+24This is a short article which skips out on facts and is designed to incite emotion and get views... FTA, here is the link to the longer story: http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/575565/This-1 ...
Digg me down if you want (and by this I really mean don't), but this doesn't sound that bad... At least she isn't on her own since the father is taking responsibility by marrying her, and it sounds like their relationship is supported by their families... Yeah it sucks that she's 11, but compared to being being sold off in a prearranged marriage to someone in their 60s, or being pimped out on the streets like that 13 year old, or even just being homeless in this situation with a kid and no father, this isn't that bad. - mdelling, on 11/03/2009, -2/+24300 or 400 years ago the girl would have been substantially more mature by the age of 11. By that time, she would have spent a fair amount of time helping her own mother with her younger brothers and sisters, so she would be fairly aware of how to take care of children etc.
Not that I'm saying it would have been a good idea even then, but you can't take the same people and just move them through time. People matured a whole lot faster back then because they had to. - supersonicjim, on 11/03/2009, -6/+2618/19 year old and a 10 year old? It's ***** sick.
- Cerebron, on 11/03/2009, -6/+26I know this is unusual now, and we have an negative automatic reaction to this, mostly based on our modern culture, but in fairness, the girl is (happily?) married, and loves her baby.
So instead of recoiling in horror at the story, why not take this as an opportunity to learn about the human condition, other cultures, etc? - socivitus, on 11/03/2009, -0/+20Touche, good sir!
- chuckDontSurf, on 11/03/2009, -3/+23Tell it to the judge, sicko.
- uptwolait, on 11/03/2009, -2/+21That's sick *****.
- lutafin, on 11/03/2009, -8/+26"I haven't had sex education classes and I didn't know how to get pregnant. I'd never had a boyfriend and I'd never heard of condoms."
Proof that abstinence works. - chriswastaken, on 11/03/2009, -0/+18I take back my comment after reading her describe her new child as "a new toy"
- ImYourRealDad, on 11/03/2009, -4/+2112chan is getting too bold.
- Hetman, on 11/03/2009, -3/+19I agree with you 100%. However historically this has been your typical marriage situation. As soon as girls got there period they were usually married off to someone there father new. Usually older than them also.
- BrownieMix, on 11/03/2009, -1/+15An 18 year old woman is old enough to consent to the sex though.
- Hetman, on 11/03/2009, -0/+14Damn pikies.
- JinxCrow, on 11/03/2009, -1/+15FTA : "I'm not going to play with toys any more - I have a new toy now,"
Oh with talk like that you're up for Mother-of-the-Year! - FattyMagee, on 11/03/2009, -5/+19If that was part of their culture the guy wouldn't be facing jail time.
- EarlOfLade, on 11/03/2009, -1/+14I've had two gypsy brothers after me with their knives, trying to kill me for fooling around with their sister. Police ended up with driving the gypsies out of town and back on the road. The girl was hot, her brothers - crazy!
- mehan, on 11/03/2009, -1/+14You wouldn't know, there's no gypsies in Minneapolis.
- Tarkaan, on 11/03/2009, -1/+13However, the expression "Old enough to pee, old enough for me!" has never been acceptable.
- Tarnum, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11+1
:-( - tgjerusalem, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11She might not have a choice in the matter. If there's no one else around willing and able to help care for the child, she might have to leave school to do so. And we don't know anything about her community, she might not be welcome back in school after this.
- crackercho, on 11/03/2009, -2/+13Just for the record, the girl is a gypsy or I guess I should say "romani" to be politically accurate.
- smashblu, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11Give me your tears, gypsy.
- somebodyscream, on 11/03/2009, -0/+11There are so many things wrong with this story in general.
- Gagege, on 11/03/2009, -5/+16I don't get why it's sad. Someone else above posted that "historically, this is how it has been." It's our culture that has changed. We've created artificial boundaries.
Now, I would agree that MOST kids these days who are just going in to puberty should not be getting married and having sex (but that's only because we don't see them as mature enough, therefore we treat them like children, therefore they are.) but it seems to me that if nature allows for reproduction to happen we shouldn't necessarily frown upon it because its at a certain age. - TheAbsintheHare, on 11/03/2009, -10/+21I think anyone saying this is sick or wrong is retarded. We go through puberty for a reason... To be able to produce offspring. If she is *able* to produce children, then it is *ok* for her to produce children. Who are you, with your social stigmas, to determine when it's ok for a life form to fulfill its only true purpose for existing? It obviously worked quite fine for 199,900 and so years before the idea came along that it's only *really* ok if you're older than 18 and married.
