The chances of winning the UK lottery are 1 in 13,983,816. You could win again and again.
By the way, this is sarcasm. This has been tried before, it would be near impossible to mobilize enough people to purchase the tickets within the timeframe. Some lotteries have weird rules against making large, group purchases as well. You also have to compensate all your co-conspirators. - avirk86, on 11/09/2009, -0/+8what an arbitrary list, might as well add the moon to it

- Apex3, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3Some of those are just stating the obvious...A house or boat can be as expensive as you want it to be. And an island? Seriously?
- acceleration, on 11/09/2009, -1/+4It makes me just a little bit sad that even though the euro and the pound sterling are globally two of the most well-known and widely-used currencies (the second and third largest reserve currencies in the world, in fact), and that even though this article is not only from a website that ends in .co.uk, but is from the most well-known UK news provider, the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)... the person who submitted this thought the currency in the article was euros, and not pounds (as evidenced by the incorrect conversions into US dollars).
€ ≠ £ - theCoffee, on 11/09/2009, -2/+5So when did talking about what rich people cannot afford become interesting in a recession?
- LarkStew, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3$140 million dollars for a Jackson Pollock that looks like something my 3 year old nephew would do? How do they get away with that?

Yes, but there's a big gap. In both senses of the word. - elijahyossie, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2I certainly didn't think that the article was talking about euros. I'm British. I generally work on the idea that £2 = $3 and converted accordingly.

now go ahead and bury away like this is some big political statement, not just a fact that government healthcare will in fact cost more than $68mil - crispynoodle, on 11/09/2009, -4/+5Notice they dont mention the millions of things they now can afford, sour grapes per chance?
- secureslash, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1Your parents. You can not buy a new parents.
- secureslash, on 11/12/2009, -0/+1And new parents
- acceleration, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1I'm sorry, I've seen this happen so many times before that I felt like something should be said.
I normally use Google to confirm my suspicions, and in fact €90 does exactly equal US$135 - which was the $ figure you gave (whereas £90 should equal $151). This is because at the moment, coincidentally, €2 = $3 (compared to £2 = $3.35). Thus, the case was strong that yet another clueless person submitted this, felt the need to give US$ figures, and converted using Google whilst wrongly assuming the original currency was euros.
I was wrong, however, so I do apologise. - elijahyossie, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1Nah, we're 9th.
