- t2t2, on 07/16/2008, -3/+298Before anyone starts complaining about the new intro music, please read this lengthy post from Yahtzee's website (http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/) last week:
---------
The review of Lego Indiana Jones this week also brings with it a new, original theme tune and intro sequence. And so, as reliably as the tides, there has been a lot of hostility towards it. Most of it I'm putting down to the human instinct to be opposed to sudden changes in routine and status quo. I'd like to point out that if the reviews had had original music and an intro like that from the very beginning no-one would have cared. I'd also like to point out that I kind of thought everyone was here for the video game criticism, which is unchanged.
Firstly, no, this wasn't because of pressure from the Escapist. It was my idea to spruce up the videos and make them look a bit more professional, because otherwise it reflects poorly on me. Extreme paranoia concerning copyright infringement may also have played a part and I wanted to err on the side of caution.
The new intro might be a bit PEPSI MAX for you but frankly I like it. It gets me pumped. And for the music I asked for something awesome with squealy guitars because I'm extremely white and therefore into classic rock. Give it a few weeks, I'm sure it'll grow on everyone. - thechosen, on 07/16/2008, -3/+264I swear to god, I sat there for three hours not pressing X hoping she would die.
Stupid bitch. - Willow01, on 07/16/2008, -4/+239http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/3710/wretwertzt ...
That is all. - kyle212, on 07/16/2008, -5/+238For some reason I read that entire comment very fast in Yahtzee's voice.
- traveler19, on 07/16/2008, -6/+188Pretty soon Zero Punctuation will reach 30minutes. Although only 3 of those minutes will actually be enjoyable and the rest will be commercials.
- rocktopotomus, on 07/16/2008, -10/+172dugg if only for '*****-up peninsula'
- HamSandwich, on 07/16/2008, -0/+126Does anybody bother to look at anything else on escapistmagazine? (I know I don't) I get the feeling that Yahtzee is the only thing keep the site afloat... hence all the ridiculous ads and promos tacked onto the end of his videos nowadays.
- nbcaffeine, on 07/16/2008, -0/+122At least the good content is up front and you can stop watching when it is over,
- MasterBeowulf, on 07/16/2008, -2/+86its a decent intro. i agree with the idea of making the review more professional. but i'll always be a fan of the intro and outro songs having something to do with the game in some odd way.
i do think the new intro is kinda generic sounding. but its not gonna stop me from watching - Enigmocracy, on 07/16/2008, -8/+82I'm pretty sure there is not a single person on Digg that doesn't like Zero Punctuation.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -8/+82I wonder if these balls can fit in my mouth?
- Premier, on 07/16/2008, -2/+71"comes in a box"
- kkxxyy, on 07/16/2008, -4/+69Dugg for stupid chapter skipping feature.
- 1337Einstein, on 07/16/2008, -2/+53Super Mario Galaxy:Fly Me to the Moon
Bioshock:Octopus's Garden
Turok:Jurasic Park Theme
Everything from now on:Generic Rock
I'll still love his videos, blah blah blah, etc., I know he gives several explanations (wherein the one that he actually cared about has been carefully hidden) each with its own merits and counterpoints, but I'll just go after the one that got on my nerves. "make them look a bit more professional, because otherwise it reflects poorly on me" Lack of professionalism has been what makes zp fantastic, it allows him to be as critical as he likes to games others would be afraid to attack, it's practically the foundation for the style of his videos, and most importantly permits a degree of individuality amongst this sea of professional journalistic clones. I've disagreed with yahtzee a few times before, but this explanation, even if focusing on something more or less trivial, is the first time I've disagreed with him on a completely fundamental level. - inactive, on 07/16/2008, -3/+49Come on people. If we bury him he doesn't exist.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+44I had the exact same "No" moment after playing the remake of Final Fantasy III on the DS. After completing two dungeons, each without save points in them or in between, I arrived at the final boss which quickly and painfully obliterated my party. After I realized I was going to have to spend another hour and a half going through the exact same dungeon again, I turned off my ds and put the game on the shelf never to be played again.
- FatBird19, on 07/16/2008, -1/+40The "terrible execution" gag had me. HAHA!
- BestJaxx, on 07/16/2008, -2/+40I would be a little surprised if that stuff at the end wasn't just a joke.
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -3/+40I miss the old intro.. I always felt the music was giving some hints of what's about to follow , or sometimes he's opinions about the game.
- AzureRise, on 07/16/2008, -3/+37Bury the heathen! Hide his existence!
- MillionsLivio, on 07/16/2008, -0/+33They all look horrible, some of them I question how anyone would not feel ashamed to be promoting. I personally would never go to the site if it were not for Yahtzee.
- itsmoirob, on 07/16/2008, -6/+36I've got to admit that the intro was much better to handle then last week. It's probably a grower.
Still not as good as his original idea. - Tyrghast, on 07/16/2008, -4/+34He's charismatic awesome is only enhanced by his ability to poke fun at himself, a la the subtitled video-from-last-week at the end.
- MuffinPatrol, on 07/16/2008, -0/+26for now...
- Stavrosian, on 07/16/2008, -6/+31I sat and watched the whole lot out of respect for them not forcing you to watch it in order to get to the review. They have to pay for the servers (and the reviewer) somehow, I have no problem with them doing it like this
- JoshReflek, on 07/16/2008, -4/+29responding to comments is better, mm?
oh delicious irony...om nom nom - Trifold, on 07/16/2008, -2/+26Great point about that girl...you're not really alone at all are you. Two requirements: alone, and dark and they completely whiffed on one. Awful.
Also that bit at the end was excellent, and will likely be screencapped and wallpapered by every Ctrl-Alt-Del fan. - musicforus, on 07/16/2008, -1/+24The stuff at the end makes sense if you watched last week's episode.
And aren't homophobic. - HolyMan28, on 07/16/2008, -8/+31One of the better ones. He was definitely in a "this isn't funny.." streak. He dug himself out of the hole with this one to me.
- thesonofdarwin, on 07/16/2008, -0/+22Some petty, sad individuals digging you down.
I also watched it, not because I felt obligated, but because I thought the trailer was cool. Until I found out what it was a trailer for. Then I felt mad and betrayed. - BlueSkyfish, on 07/16/2008, -1/+19There are a lot of people. There are also people who don't like XKCD *gasp*
- nuclearpenguins, on 07/16/2008, -0/+18I'm pretty sure people have been peeing in containers for years.
- colonelpanic, on 07/16/2008, -10/+27So there is a single person on digg that does like zero punctuation?
silly double negatives. - inactive, on 07/16/2008, -0/+16somebody call the whaaambulance
- axisdelasal, on 07/16/2008, -17/+33Terry and Gonad LOL
- inactive, on 07/16/2008, -3/+19Are the jars a pee a nod to the TF2 sniper video?
- wizpig64, on 07/16/2008, -1/+17i really doubt he actually took 3 hours to wait for her to fall. maybe a minute or two. it's called exaggeration.
- coolcole93, on 07/16/2008, -0/+15People say that every single week about Yahtzee. Why? Why do you all want to be Dugg down SOOOO much?
- EggAndMuffin, on 07/16/2008, -5/+20just what the f*** is that crap at the end of the video ?!
I wish Yatzhee would review on that trailer... - Acglaphotis, on 07/16/2008, -2/+17That's what he said. Double negatives suck :p.
- FatBird19, on 07/16/2008, -2/+16Generally I'm very productive at work. But today is Yahtzee day. Time for a break.
- TVarmy, on 07/16/2008, -0/+14It's subtitles for his review of Indiana Jones 4.
- dsmx, on 07/16/2008, -0/+13I still like listening to some music that has some vague relation to the review.
- ophello, on 07/16/2008, -0/+12you dont "review on" something, you review it.
"I wish Yatzhee would review that trailer..." - inactive, on 07/16/2008, -1/+13Dang that sucks to hear. The game had some serious potential
- N00F, on 07/16/2008, -2/+14I so don't like XKCD. Yahtzee's reviews are something I do like though.
- MillionsLivio, on 07/16/2008, -2/+14Apologize for jokes? ***** off, so sick of stuck-ups like you.
- xkorbin, on 07/16/2008, -2/+12the moment those ads are preroll with no way to skip them is the moment I quit watching ZP unless someone kindly youtubes a version without ads.
- AzureRise, on 07/16/2008, -1/+11Yes you are.
- Jhiaxuz, on 07/16/2008, -0/+9It got me signed back up to Eve so it worked in favor of them. Somehow.
