- Eichenator, on 10/10/2007, -6/+50Great... so once we spend all our time getting through the level 70 raids, purples will once again turn in to lvl 71 greens.

" There's currently a rash of things going around about a possible upcoming expansion. The forum rules are that we are not allowed to post things of this nature in the forums. We're not allowed to link to it. We're not allowed to cut and paste the content of them into our threads.
Unreleased content covers anything that Blizzard has not formally announced. It does not matter where you get the information from. It doesn't matter if it's clearly fake. It doesn't matter if it's just a joke.
The moderators are currently taking a very hard line on this and reports are coming in that they're handing out permanent bans from the forums for threads of this nature. We should always assume that the forum rules apply to what we post--the forum rule for this is that we're not allowed to post about unreleased content.
Play it safe. Blizzcon is just hours away. We'll know what we can talk about very, very soon."
This FAQ, and interview is *****.- joemc72, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Maybe not. From the PTO:

- acarr, on 10/10/2007, -13/+3haha!! WoW nerds!!!! Go outside!!!!
- Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9lol, someone on digg calling someone else a nerd and then yelling at them to go outside.

- Rikushix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The wow forums are already going crazy with speculation, mods are banning rumor posters left, right, and center. If this shows up on the forums...it will be chaos.
- llbbl, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2Vote here if you want Blizzard to add levels to the next expansion:
http://www.polldaddy.com/poll.asp?p=80816 - Shawn4168, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0So...they should just stop with Burning Crusade? I'm not sure what you were expecting, but everybody's been waiting to hear this announcement for months now. And I'm pretty sure that most people are OK with it too.
- Resiroth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That's what you pay 15 dollars a month for - a grind.
- Seth024, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Mirror: http://duggmirror.com/pc_games/WoW_Wrath_of_the_Lich_King_FAQ/
- cuedive, on 10/10/2007, -7/+68Welcome to the endless grind of WoW :P
- sbader, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21probably wouldn't be much of an mmo if it had an end.
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12The best MMO's out there can think of more creative ways to add content than adding levels to the "grind". Adding levels is the lazy man's way out a la the EQ series.
- kevin45, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2An MMO will always need its level cap raised. Otherwise, how will they increase the difficulty of new dungeons and bosses? Its the old carrot on a stick with MMOs. You want to reach the end, but the end just doesn't exist.
- pak314, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Can you give us some examples of these "best MMOs" and of a content system that will scale to a thousand players?
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4@kevin45
Alternate advancement. Sure, it's just level grinding by a different name, but at least it's different (and tends to increase diversity of 'builds'). - inhaler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3@ Paki
Even WoW had alternatives to the level grind back during original release. Characters were capped at 60, but by increasing the talent trees, providing items and equipment that increased playability and stratedgy, etc. I've played vanilla, and "retired" slightly into BC. Call me old fashioned, but pre expanspansion WoW was more fun, and less about calculations. It's not the grind ultimately which killed WoW: it's that Blizzard Ent. became self-aware of the the same number crunching and stat maxing the player base did, and that was evident Naxxramas on, and when they itemized the T2 item affects.
The answer isn't leveling, it's variety of content. I'd be happy if my character only capp'd at 60 provided there were numerous items to collect that enhanced or altered my playstyle, hence why I played a miner/engineer druid. I liked variety. - Farik, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1An alternate advancement system that would work best would be something in the middle of EVE Online and WoW.
- turpenine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1secondary classes in L2.
- Acidictadpole, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Try a game that doesn't use levels. I play EVE-Online (www.eve-online.com) and haven't looked back at wow since. Except to snigger and laugh that is.
- thanakar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0EVE stil has leveling, but it is called 'training' You also need to grind out countless missions in order to raise your level with various factions, and lets not forget the endless researching to level up those blueprints. No leveling my ass!
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12The best MMO's out there can think of more creative ways to add content than adding levels to the "grind". Adding levels is the lazy man's way out a la the EQ series.
- sbader, on 10/10/2007, -2/+21probably wouldn't be much of an mmo if it had an end.
- SomeoneGNU, on 10/10/2007, -14/+9Don't forget the systematic destruction of the lore, the endless nerfing of the game so people will stop whining about balance, and all the mindless rep grinds you'll have just to be able to do anything in Northrend. Pretty soon, you'll have to rep grind just to be allowed to leave the starting area.
- CreepingDeath, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1I'll keep saying this till I'm blue in the face; but all the whining and nerfing comes out of PVP; remove PVP from the game and it would go back to being fun.
Sigh; I guess I'm a dying breed who just wants a fun PVE MMO where I can raid w/ my friends.. Everquest being the last good one... I had high hopes for Vanguard but it just turns out that I was high for thinking Brad wasn't just a giant tool.- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I like PvP... :(
And no, you weren't high. SOE got involved. LotRO is actually pretty good, by the way.- foooey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I'll second the LotRO comment, PvMP really seems to be the solution to endless PvP inspired nerfing.
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4Some of us wouldn't touch a game if it didn't have PvP.
Not that WoW's PvP DOESN'T suck huge donkey balls or anything. Guildwars and Dark Age of Camelot are two of the only MMOs that come to mind with PvP that makes the leveling grind worth it.
MMOs without PvP are the equivalent of masturbation. Masturbating with friends makes you kind of weird once you get out of that "show me yours and I'll show you mine" phase. - Skod, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Stop whining, PvP provides us with the lulz.
- runeasgar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No thanks.. I like having PvP available as a way to play without dedicating 2-5 hours at a time. I don't want to have to have my game-time scheduled.
Also, WoW was originally designed to be a casual alternative, and ultimately a replacement for Everquest -- not Everquest -- thank god. Some of us have lives outside of the game, but still want to play. A game that is pure raiding requires too much scheduling and time investment for it to remain a game, it becomes a hobby or a job instead. - kevin45, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2People who don't like PvP are usually kids. Why bother being on a PvP server then? You knew from the get go this game was geared for PvP at some point, PvE or not.
- lithera, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm in a fairly large guild in which the majority of people (+80%) is an adult and most of us don't like pvp.
If they enter Arena's or BG's it's either out of boredom or to get some S2 gear. Some people really do like the PvE part of the game you know ;p
- lithera, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm in a fairly large guild in which the majority of people (+80%) is an adult and most of us don't like pvp.
- pak314, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I don't enjoy PvP much but why should they get rid of it? WoW has separate realms for different kinds of playing styles be it PvP, PvE, Normal and their RP variants. Pick a realm that is best suited to your playing style.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I like PvP... :(
- CreepingDeath, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1I'll keep saying this till I'm blue in the face; but all the whining and nerfing comes out of PVP; remove PVP from the game and it would go back to being fun.
- krolm, on 10/10/2007, -34/+16who cares? age of conan and warhammer online will be way more fun than this dump of an mmo. digg me down you f'n carebears...digg me down.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -7/+4I guess if having played EQ in a top-end guild makes me a carebear, then I suppose I am. Your comment still sucks.
- kevin45, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Don't digg this guy down. EQ isn't for the meek. Making it beyond hell levels alone merits some kudos for patience sake. Imagine if WOW held people back like that, all those kids wouldn't play past 30.
- erasedgod, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9Dugg down by request.
- Light11, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2im in beta for age of conan :O
- krolm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0lucky sob :)
- postalblowfish7, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2age of conan LMFAO
- hmmquestion, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0...warhammer looks just like WoW?
- krolm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1really??? WoW was inspired by warhammer if you didn't know.
- krolm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1warcraft*
- braintrip, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2These noobs don't even know what Warhammer is. The one good thing about WoW, is Dermatologists are making a killing off these kids.
- braintrip, on 10/10/2007, -4/+0These noobs don't even know what Warhammer is. The one good thing about WoW, is Dermatologists are making a killing off these kids.

- mattfugitive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+11Damn and I haven't even gotten to lvl 70 yet.
- Eastcoastsurfer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is precisely the reason I quit. I actually managed to get to 70, but then you realize they will release a new expansion making your items and time not worth spending on the purples from raids, pvp...etc I even got pretty far before I realized this. I wish I would have realized it sooner...
- pustulio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1/violin
- Hoinah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I don't play to gear up.... I play to play.
So if the level cap goes up again, yeah all my hard work on gear will have been for naught, but there's new areas to explore, and the gear will be better as I grind up to 80, and then I play for fun and get better gear to compete in the now toughest stuff. Its cyclical and if you equate gear=good character, then of course you're gonna hate losing all that work.
- Hoinah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I don't play to gear up.... I play to play.
- pustulio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1/violin
- OralCavity, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2perhaps you should realize that the purpose of raiding is not to collect purple pixels and wtfpwn n00bs in pvp. it's to have fun. if fun for you is pretending that your video game avatar is somehow "better" than someone else's video game avatar, then you need to take yr head out of yr arse
- cyberwarriorx, on 10/10/2007, -4/+28How about Warcraft 4?
- Kenelm, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14How about something else, such as Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, or Lost Vikings 3 ? I think most people are starting to get sick of Warcraft.
- Flunk, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Do you live in a cave? SC2 has been announced and Diablo 3 is most probably in development at the moment.
- Sparkster185, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4You forget they make $14.99/month off every single subscription. 3 months of WoW = selling one copy of any single player game you mentioned.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5They may get $14.99, but the costs of running it probably cut that quite a lot (server farm(s), admins, programmers, etc.). Granted, with the several million subscribers that they have, it'll still be an assload...
- Light11, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1well they have already paid for everything they have. also they probably only need 1000-5000 subscribers a month just to break even on the server costs. once you pay employee's, rent, utilities (small amount except salaries). your in the money.

- frsrblch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Just starting?
- wilsonthecat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Queue 10 comments featuring the following reply:
"9 million people aren't getting bored"
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4I never even liked the Warcraft "universe," graphics, or experience. StarCraft and Diablo are so much better.
- Eastcoastsurfer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Starcraft>Warcraft>Diablo
- Eastcoastsurfer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Starcraft>Warcraft>Diablo
- nwoantibody, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If you think Blizzard is about to throw away, 9 million monthly payments of 15 bucks.
You need to get off the grass.
- Kenelm, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14How about something else, such as Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, or Lost Vikings 3 ? I think most people are starting to get sick of Warcraft.
- jimbojim, on 10/10/2007, -13/+4No way that is true. They wouldn't make hero classes only available to some classes. And even I doubt Blizzard is dumb enough to raise the level cap.
I'll wait until I see it from an official source.- Kenelm, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2Based on the FAQ, the hero class is a class on its own, and you have to create a new character to have it. And raising the level cap isn't dumb at all. If they don't, there will be no point doing quests, new level-70 items would be overpowered, and you couldn't get the new abilities and talents.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3To summarize Kenelm: RTFA.
- krayzie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3According to US patents Blizzard just copyrighted "Wrath of the Lich King" on July 28th 2007, so it seems to be real
- LordVorbis, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19I doubt it's actually true. So many fake Patch Notes and bogus info have been leaked in the past that the thought of Blizzard actually getting a hero class into the game is fairly shocking. Of course, I was hoping it would be something new, and not just a rip off of City of Heroes epic ATs.
Thinking about it, it would probably require something retarded like clearing every instance on heroic mode, and doing all the 25 man raids. So only the epic poop sockers can get it.- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Speaking of fake Patch Notes, I love Blizzard's April Fools jokes, such as http://www.goblinworkshop.com/news/story.html?StoryID=792
- CaptMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I don't think the article is a real FAQ, but if they did make hero classes something like that, I doubt they would limit it to something that just the raiders can get. They would probably do something like the Netherwing quests that pretty much anyone can do, it just takes a while to get through it. No way they would put something as big as a new class in the game and then stop the majority of players from ever accessing it.
- kazamx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It has to be fake though. If its not then in within a few months 90% of the server will be walking around as deathknights.
- w3dg3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Skeptical much? Death Knights are real, you gain access to them by completing a quest chain that's 'on par' with the warlock mount quests. Every 80 will be able to do it without too much difficulty. So yeah CaptMonkey was about right, not a raiding thing. All I have to say, is go watch the Blizzcon Panel... here http://www.gamespot.com/video/942519/6176226/world-of-warcraft-wrath-of-the-lich-king-blizzcon-panel
oh.. and ps... Northrend's Shattrath is DALARAN ZOMG!!!
- cuedive, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1well they just posted another thing about the game being official.. as far as ripping off hero classes, blizz has been talking about hero classes have been in warcraft since forever and they were talking about them in the beta of wow, theres no way they ripped it off of coh.
- erasedgod, on 10/10/2007, -8/+8Well, just think about how much fun it'll be for you alliance bastards to gank the questing lowbies outside hillsbrad when you hit level 80.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6As someone who's played both sides, I feel obligated to let you know that the Horde seems to do it more.
- Applu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ashenvale is the equivalence of Foothills Brad for the alliance.
- xero9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I have to agree with Akaji. I'm a Horde and find myself taking trips to Hillsbrad looking for Alliance that want their asses handed to them
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6As someone who's played both sides, I feel obligated to let you know that the Horde seems to do it more.
- DarKnight90, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4But now the game will just be filled with Death Knights.
- elitedw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1death knight is like FFXI's Dark Knight
- blast0x, on 10/10/2007, -7/+6this sounds like the name of a Harry Potter sequel
- DarKnight90, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10World of Warcraft: The Deathly Hallows
No fairzz only teh uber raiders can get teh elder wand! - darklord5907, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1No, this very much sounds like a World of Warcraft sequel, if you've ever played the RTS series or read the lore, you would know the Lich King and Notherend are the two biggest lore pieces in the game.
- markwilcox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Reminds me a lot more of LotR The Battle for Middle Earth 2: The Rise of the Witch King
- Wormfather, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So what class is Voldermort? Mage or Warlock? Then again he's got a pet snake...
- DarKnight90, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10World of Warcraft: The Deathly Hallows
- CaptMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -6/+26Sounds fishy to me. They're making *one* hero class? And it's deathknight? I can't see alliance or horde being deathknights, so what, they're going to make a new faction made entirely of deathknights? "LFM... deathknights."
Besides, why would they make you start a new character that in turn starts out high level? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of making a new character? They've surprised me before... (draenei being shamans and blood elves being paladins) but I just don't think this is true.- DreKor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Obviously you never played SWG. New character types can do all kinds of crazy stuff.
- doddilus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2i played SWG, and thats exactly why i know the deathknight hero class is total *****
hero classes dont work
sure at first you'll have 3-4 "heroes", but eventually the game will be flooded with them and no one will play anything else - w3dg3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Deathknight is exactly what you DONT think it is. And yeah, EVERYONE will be playing one, for a while, but the hype WILL wear off eventually (e.g. Draenei and Blood Elves). Don't complain, also, look at the bright side, it'll be EVEN EASIER to find a tank for you instances now :D
- Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -33/+5Why all the WoW posts? Isn't this a site for adults? I thought WoW was a children's game?
- zyl0x, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16And I thought all Diggers weren't ignorant.
- orlyfactor, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6lol. owned.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3You must be new here, zyl0x...
- Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1Actually, I was making a point. It seems like every Harry Potter post has someone wrongfully stating that it is a children's book, so I thought someone should do the same in a different context.
- zyl0x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That'll teach you to think.
- plhearn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1owned again!
- fabianp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0LOL
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1Lots of adults play it, sadly. Even though it's the worst MMO ever imagined, it has the largest audience.
- sbader, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1and the best one is?
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I like Dark Age of Camelot personally. Strikes a good balance of PvE and PvP. That is hard to do. There are some with interesting unique concepts like Project Entropia, where dollars spent equate to real life dollars as well. WoW is tired. There are dozens of other MMOs exactly like it that have been around for years longer. It succeeded because Blizz had the money to market it and the Warcraft notoriety to begin with. Don't pretend that it has succeeded because of the AMAZING UNIQUE GAME PLAY AND AWESOME ARTWORK!!!11!ONE!!!11 yawn.
- mccord, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2recovering addict?
if you'd look at it objectively you'd see it's not the worst mmo out there ;)- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I spend 80-140 hours per week playing MMOs, I'm not a recovering addict. I've been a "professional" player since college, making some extra income off powerleveling for money and selling in game items and gold. Since I am also a programmer for hire and an insomniac, I have plenty of time to play MMOs, work, and go for a run every day.
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Ever imagined? You've obviously never tried any of those foreign MMOs. Besides, it's fun, has a unique art style, and the most important part of any MMO is the community (which, sadly enough, WoW actually has a pretty good community compared to most MMOs I've played).
- Schmidtopolis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Some people still hate the popular kid... for no other reason than his popularity. He could be the coolest kid in school, with a good head on his shoulders, and he doesn't treat anyone badly, but some people will just hate his face for no other reason than soooo many other people like it. Human nature I guess... I call it being a dick.
- DarKnight90, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Kinda like Halo.
- sbader, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1and the best one is?
- muki, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5The average age of an MMO player is 26. So, with 9 million WoW players, that means there are MILLIONS on non-children playing it. So, no, you'd be quite wrong to call it a children's game.
- Neiby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3And I bet the average age of a Harry Potter read is in the 20's as well, yet every Harry Potter post has someone wrongfully saying that it's a children's book.
- Schmidtopolis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1What is it, 1988 again?... Games are kids toys? Aren't we beyond all this?
- zyl0x, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16And I thought all Diggers weren't ignorant.
- BradArmstrong1, on 10/10/2007, -12/+29Break out of wow, i did it, you can, you will feel better...
- darklord5907, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Lame double post due to stuttering.
- darklord5907, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8If we enjoy the game and realize how to manage our time correctly, what is so bad about it?

- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Did it. Was 'sober' for a year and a half. Just started again. I'm more happy playing it.
- inhaler, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3I feel sorry for you concerning your offline life then. It's like someone telling you they're happier playing Super Mario Brothers for 10 hours a day, then say, living their life.

- LandStander, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5I broke free once, but I got really ***** bored so I just drank during that spare time I would of been playing WoW.
I'm of course kidding cause I ***** hate people like you that associate WoW as being an addiction or something for pre-pubescent teens. What do you do in your spare time? I play WoW when I have nothing better to do, its the same as me doing work around the house, or going to see a movie, or watching TV in that useless time. - Alegis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Broke free myself, came back for Burning Crusade and taking another break now.
You do enjoy the game better after you've taken a break, and take one again once the raiding experience starts to decrease.
- muki, on 10/10/2007, -11/+6Go back to DAOC. Wait for Warhammer. Or just play Club Penguin.
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Digg for DAoC mention.
- yohnstoppable, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1A month ago I might have dugg you up, but after following Warhammer for several months I doubt it will be any better. Their main pvp focus is instances, and they are now considering cross-server pvp instances. They also talk about "badass, epic gear" and other similar nonsense. It may not be a wow clone, but it is going to make the same mistakes wow did for the hardcore pvpers. Given how that is the biggest demographic that is interested in WAR, there is no way in hell they will succeed if that is the path they choose. Why play WAR, when I already have a level 70 in World of Grindcraft?
- DMDekoth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Grinding players is more fun!
- VSLOATHE, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2At least WHO is being made by a company that knows how to make a good PvP MMO.
I am hoping that you will be able to template your character's gear in WHO similar to DAoC, so there's no constant raiding. OOnce you have a template, everything is capped and you're good. You know that you're on equal footing with everyone else out there.- yohnstoppable, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Agreed, and that is my hope. I'm just worried they are succumbing to some of the same things wow did. I'm not saying wow is a terrible game, as I played it quite a bit. However, several things killed it off for me. Those were a) battlegrounds b) cross server battlegrounds c) gear being too important d) flying mounts in a spread out area e) faction grinds
Most of those are related to gear and pvp instances, which WAR will have a huge focus on. Seems like a bad path to take, considering the complaints I have are in large part the same complaints of those who came from DAOC and would be playing Warhammer.
And I love the idea of stat caps.
- yohnstoppable, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Agreed, and that is my hope. I'm just worried they are succumbing to some of the same things wow did. - Vanor, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1No offense, but I don't think you've been following it clearly enough. They're doing a LOT of things differently than wow, in a way that goes a long way to diminish the whole "casual/hardcore player" issue, and making PvP fun, instead of a gankfest. You can't kill anybody in 2-3 hits, they're actually making your character/class' skills the focus for combat, not gear. All the quests I've seen look fun, exciting, unique, and even *gasp*, employ some logic, like if you are in an area killing boars, and you come to a dude that has a quest to kill boars, he'll be all "Hey, I hate boars, and I see that you've killed more than enough already, here's your prize." No stupid ***** like having a 1/8 chance of a bloody boar hoof to drop when all you've been doing is killing boars and outdated time-wasting/prolonging garbage like that.
I don't care if the game is successful or popular, if it's fun that's all that matters, and it sure as ***** looks that way right now, a hell of a lot moreso than WoW without dumbing down the experience. And they aren't hosting their own forums either, and after playing WoW, that's probably the best thing to could do.- yohnstoppable, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I've been following it, and like I said I don't consider it a wow clone. However, the focus on pvp instances, and possibility of cross-server instances, would add in the 2 WORST parts of wow.
Instances, especially when you get better rewards, KILLED world pvp in wow. Cross server instances killed any feeling of community in wow. If they are implemented in a similar way in warhammer, the same thing will happen there. It might still be insanely fun, and I might change my tune, but the fact they are going with instances is a HUGE blow to the credibility of it as an rvr game. Luckily though, people are going ***** over the idea of x-server instances, and it doesn't seem like a feasible idea
- yohnstoppable, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I've been following it, and like I said I don't consider it a wow clone. However, the focus on pvp instances, and possibility of cross-server instances, would add in the 2 WORST parts of wow.

Blizzard must have added a digg down faction or something- inhaler, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3What was the last reckoning of WoW players? 9 mil? Coming from a former WoW player, they get offensive when you criticize their lifestyle/addiction. Almost anything to excess is bad guys, and that applies to the past time of gaming.
- BigFont, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1grinding digg rep until i get digg epix..
- Rkoril, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3I doubt it's valid, especially due to Death Knights being pawns of the Lich King
Maybe if they followed the City of Heroes model, and made the hero classes powerful, but with a few mortal weaknesses, it'd be worth playing again to try one out. - Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11Not entirely certain why people are whining about a potential raise in the level cap, or new items to get. Explain to me again how Blizzard is supposed to "expand" an MMORPG without doing those things? It's as if people want nothing more than new dungeons that offer nothing more than current loot with different art.
WoW is a grind. No denying that. I'm just not sure why people keep whining about it when they should have realized thats what it was when they first got into it.- LowRentDiggs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3There are tons of ways to expand a game other than just adding more lvls and changing the lvl and names of all the monsters and items. It would be nice to see a company be original for a change.
I'm not saying they shouldn't add levels but they have other options for new content.- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Name 50. Heck, name 10 effective ways that they could expand the game for high-end players without raising the level cap.
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why do you need 50 to rebut 1? Sure, you can simply increase the lvl cap, OR, you could add content with better gear/spells/abilities inside them. in addition to adding a new race/class.
- BigFont, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0please elaborate on these 'tons of ways to expand a game'...
- Akaji, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Name 50. Heck, name 10 effective ways that they could expand the game for high-end players without raising the level cap.
- Rkoril, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1An exploration/badge system would be great.
- Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I'm not sure what you mean exactly. If you mean like the player title system in LotR online Blizzard has begun to introduce something like that. The exploration part really would be nothing more than a minigame to waste time. Would be nice of course, I would love it myself, it's just too small and requires too little effort to make it worth while as end game content.
- Rkoril, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2City of Heroes/Villains has a system where you find certain locations in the world and to get badges. They let you display titles and things of that nature, which are important to some players, especially those who like to immerse themselves. Normal titles have been around (and have since mostly vanished) since the first battleground/pvp system was put in. Maybe have it track how many mobs of a specific type you killing, and give you titles and spells that are more effective versus the said type, like in Everquest 2.
Unfortunately, most non-xp awarding things in WoW are wastes of time. Getting more gear, pvping for fun, and just chatting are the only real things a level 70 character can do. Well, except for making money for alts. - Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Well if these expansion "notes" were to end up being true then the new player customization options could be exactly that. Thing is such options are really just funny little side quests, they really aren't how you expand a game.
- consonance, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Guild Wars has a title system. For instance, if you uncover 70% of the world map, you get a title (forget what it's called) that shows up when anyone sees you, and you get another one at 90%. Uncovering extremely rare items of a classification gets you a title. However, I can't remember the specifics as I haven't played in a while.
- Rkoril, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1But they are, it's something else to do. Unless they add Alternate Advancement, like in EQ (and to some extent EQ2) there isn't much they can do differently. Although the talent system is like alternate advancement, except every character gets them through leveling. Allowing for level capped players to amass xp to help customize and improve their character will extend content, although in a shoddy way.
- Rkoril, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2City of Heroes/Villains has a system where you find certain locations in the world and to get badges. - Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3So give me an example then? Aside from useless mini-games what can they add? Leveling and grinding rep are methods of ensuring not everyone can be super powered. It's how virtually all MMORPG's work. The only other way to do it is through pure skill, something which is half met in PvP environments like the arenas, it takes gear AND skill but it will still net you epics.
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'll give you an example. They add new dungeons/zones that have higher level gear and spellbooks in addition to adding new classes and races. There's no reason at all to increase the lvl cap.
- Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1In other words you want exactly the same system that exists in the lengthy periods of time between expansions. Many many people complain about that too. It's really no different from grinding for new levels when you think about it too. Same amount of time to get the same kinds of rewards.
- iceperson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I'll give you an example. They add new dungeons/zones that have higher level gear and spellbooks in addition to adding new classes and races. There's no reason at all to increase the lvl cap.
- drek, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Guild Wars, Mullinator. It's an MMO (yes, it is a MMO) with a level cap of 20. When new content is added .... no new character levels are added. The cap, and your character's power level, stay at 20.
Each new chapter brings new areas to explore, a new main storyline to follow, new titles to achieve, new skills to pick up. The new items are the same power as the old items: they just look different.- ScionX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1No, it's not an MMO, although it definately gives the illusion.
The only area that you are with everyone else is the cities, once you leave the cities you are in your own area, you will never see anyone other than who's in your party. This is actually one of the reasons I quit playing GW & went to WoW, GW was just so restricting, and I like being able to run around an area & actually see others.

Do you want to get free expansions?
Do you want to play on the same UNsharded server as 300,000 other players. (Usually 20-30k online) Yes, we have 30k players online at the same time in the same world.
Do you want to engage in battles where 500 players square off against 500 other players. And one side comes out victorious? The other side is sent home by death.

- LessThan3, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7WoW needs to stop catering to the 60-70 + players, which I'm sure are a small fraction of their subscribers.
What they need to do is add something for level 35-45s--those are the worst levels--you spend your time grinding STV and Uldaman, all the rewards suck, and by the time you are close to getting out of that level group, you are so fed up with the game you don't even want to play.- aardvarkfarm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yep. I finally hit 51 yesterday and I'm so glad....finally getting worthwhile quests. At about 47-48 I was tired of it, and only stayed in due to wanting my class quest (hi Blizzard, please don't make rogues go so long without one, especially since you bothered to give us our own faction and hidden area and everything, thanks). Glad I did though...
- smartidiot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Except for one thing, you can keep progressing. Once you hit the level limit you either spend too much time raiding or roll an alt.
- soulfire, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I quit WoW around level 40. I ran two characters to about level 40 and got pretty bored of it. I am glad that I did though. At least I didn't wind up being a hardcore raider.
- fadeout, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1if you can't get to 70 in a year you need to get your ass away from cybering in front of a mailbox in stormwind. Leveling is easy.
- Mullinator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Well although they are unnofficial statistics if you look at world of warcraft census data every realm shows the majority of players, and I mean a huge majority of players are actually level 70. So assuming they are true they actually are catering to the majority, or at least the majority of customers who pay constantly.
- Reviler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I won't be reinitializing my account just to move my 4 70s up to 80. Without a real fundamental change in the same old grind and bitch gameplay the whole genre is uninteresting.
- wilsonthecat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0They should stop pandering to the 20% of the populus that does hardcore raiding, and actually add some new content for existing dungeons, and as you said the level 1-60 dungeons. Make content that people want to level alts for, epics that drop in dungeons at level 30. I find it really strange how the subscription numbers keep growing in the game without them adding anything new except raid dungeons and a few mounts. A complete rejuvination of low level items and some new areas for levels 20-60 would get my vote.
- Malarie, on 10/10/2007, -7/+7There is no way in hell i will buy this expansion. I stopped playing this game befiore the 1st expansion came out. The real fun was when everybody was level 60, raiding Tier 1, 2, 2.5 and 3.
