The Half-Life 2 games were left intact and I was able to go online and play with those. They also, after much deliberation, refused to tell me why I was banned and also claimed that I had logged onto the account from that location months prior.
I don't care what you believe man, but its just bad when Valve rewards its early adopters (I bought the most expensive version of Half-Life 2 including all the original games) and developers (I was one of the first people to start posting on their Wiki for development) with a permanent ban. I don't know if my account was hijacked, if they nabbed me while I was testing Half-Life code or whatever - all I know is that two years later I am left with a useless account full of software.
At the time that I was still playing on my Steam account the software was garbage. It would routinely crash and regularly booted me from a server for a VAC issue (this was the original VAC). The software has been fixed, now, and I would like to say that its a great platform if it was not for this issue that has happened to me and many people that I know. I'm not the only person that has suffered from an apparent account hijack. The only difference is that I went to the Washington Better Business Bureau, bitched complained and ultimately got the shaft.
Its a bummer. Team Fortress 2 is a fun game and the only reason I own a copy is because someone bought me the Orange Box. But I am afraid that in six months while in Visual Studio Steam is going to ultimately decide that I am attempting to take over the Half-Life and pump me a couple of times in the ass. Amatuer style. - JephirDromulus, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1 Mistakes from VAC1 were resolved, and VAC2 does not make mistakes. Not to be a douchebag, but I don't believe him. If you modify your game EXE or DLLs, you get banned, simple as that.
