- Dreamtwister, on 07/18/2008, -20/+731Well great! They pirate the sh!t out of their games its only fair Ubisoft pirates their no CD tool.
- CarzorStelatis, on 07/18/2008, -18/+521The modified exe is a derivative work of Ubisoft's game (R6), so Ubisoft own the copyright.
- TheSexyGeek, on 07/18/2008, -10/+274Oh the irony!
- twtmc, on 07/18/2008, -2/+225Reloaded does good work, why fix what's not broken?
- slayernine, on 07/18/2008, -1/+195Last week at Ubisoft headquarters...
Boss - We need to change the game so users don't have to mess around with a DVD every time they want to play.
Programmer - But sir we designed the game to prevent just that.
Boss - JUST DO IT!! *walks away*
Programmer -*googles R6Vegas NoCD* - BananaGrabber, on 07/18/2008, -14/+171I think they did it on purpose to shove it in front of RELOADED's faces. It's like a little ***** you back.
- andy69fox, on 07/18/2008, -10/+118LOL I think digg got someone in trouble. Because it's nowhere to be found on their website now.

- houndeyex, on 07/18/2008, -3/+72Let me know when you burn a securom 7 disc and actually have the game boot without a crack... kthxbai
- Mockylock, on 07/18/2008, -3/+61If I were part of the Reloaded group, I would consider it as flattery.
And if you really don't see it that way, there's not much you can really do about it. I'm sure Ubisoft is laughing their asses off. - artfuldodga, on 07/18/2008, -6/+62baha, slick move ubisoft...
- valkyries, on 07/18/2008, -11/+67Ouch,
- boobsbr, on 07/18/2008, -4/+54why don't software makers realize that these petty restrictions just ***** annoy us and doesn't even hinder the software copy problem (piracy is something done on the seas with ships, guns and loot)?
- Gudeldar, on 07/18/2008, -15/+65That's not really the point. The point is that Ubisoft was so lazy that they couldn't be bothered to removed their own copy protection (that term is a joke it should be "customer annoyance") that they went and downloaded a no-cd crack they ban people on their forum from even talking about and then distribute it to their customers. Its the hypocrisy of it all that is humorous.
- TxAggie08, on 07/18/2008, -8/+57LOL, I see nothing wrong with Ubisoft stealing from pirates who are helping people steal from them. Irony at its best.
- Koskun, on 07/18/2008, -0/+45The Devs aren't "catching on to convenience". This is a result of the fact that the D2D versions of the game (Direct 2 Drive) with the recent patch, are saying that a copy of the disk needs to be there in order to play the game. There are even reports that people with a physical copy of the game are getting the same problem.
In a feeble attempt to fix the problem UbiSoft released a "patch" that would allow one to play the game with no cd. The problem is they copied it exactly from ReLoaded. Follow the link and their tag is still in the file. - estvir, on 07/18/2008, -3/+44Digg? Please, it was removed a long time ago.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -1/+42They don't annoy us, I absolutely love having to keep 5 cd's around my computer and switch discs twice a day.
i better add the /sarcasm tag... wouldn't want these retarded corporations thinking that there's people that enjoy this... - Rhendal, on 07/18/2008, -5/+45Anyone else see the irony in defending a pirating group by calling the company who originally made the game "thieves"?
- Virtualtaco, on 07/18/2008, -3/+43I thought there were still protections that Daemon doesn't get around. I've had numerous cases where I still needed a no-cd to run software after mounting.
- logicalnoise, on 07/18/2008, -1/+40The Adventure Company did the same thing when i complained that Syberia 2 wouldn't load correctly. They called it a patch in the email but it was identical to the NO-cd crack i downloaded while waiting for their customer support to email me back. Never did bother to beat that game though.
- RocketGib, on 07/18/2008, -3/+42Publishers would save themselves so much of a headache if they just stopped implementing anti-piracy stuff, such as SecurROM.
- NCg8r, on 07/18/2008, -3/+41...the sincerest form of flattery.
- andre321, on 07/18/2008, -2/+39http://how-to-spell-ridiculous.com/
- tkotam, on 07/18/2008, -8/+45Geez. I think you guys must be new to the scene.. Don't you know that RELOADED is actually UBISOFT? EA is actually RAZOR1911 and TinyISO is actually Activision?
Come on... :-)
/sarcazzzzzzzzzm.... - TnTBass, on 07/18/2008, -1/+33Why reinvent the wheel? I actually applaud this decision. Hopefully it leads to more no-cd patches for games released by the game manufacturer itself, and even a total removal of that crappy anti-piracy method.
- serialgriller, on 07/18/2008, -13/+45Oh, Ubisoft. Whatever next.
This story is even more fun if you remember when, back in the day, Ubisoft were banning people from their forums if they said they were going to boycott the unwaveringly harsh Starforce protection whilst extolling the virtues and necessity of copy protection. I guess, deep down, everyone likes no-cd cracks. - specialK16, on 07/18/2008, -6/+35haha... owned.
- NJank, on 07/18/2008, -1/+29"Follow the link and their tag is still in the file."
that's fabulous. didn't RTFA and realize it was this obvious. can you say, 'caught red-handed' - RiouG, on 07/18/2008, -6/+33RELOADED is never gonna give you up.
Never gonna let you down. - NCg8r, on 07/18/2008, -5/+32That's riiiiiiiich. Props to RELOADED for saving me many a rotation on my optical drives...
- Tanktunker, on 07/18/2008, -0/+27You know, instead of making nocd patches they could just, well, make the game run without a cd in the first place.
It's not like the cd holds any necessary game files anymore, like in the days of Myst, it's just an outdated anti piracy tool. - zephyr42, on 07/18/2008, -2/+24The guys in RELOADED are really smart cookies and aren't going to take offense to this, they're going to embrace Ubisofts' embrace of them. I've been using stuff from RELOADED for a long time now and they've never let me down.
- th3heretic, on 07/18/2008, -3/+25Horrible logic, they still took the time to make the ***** game, making the no-cd patch is a breeze compared to making a full game.
- DrCyclops, on 07/18/2008, -3/+25That's really just a... terrible, terrible analogy.
- ProfessorLX, on 07/18/2008, -2/+23i heard you liked to teabagged
- Schmich, on 07/18/2008, -3/+23You mean by taking something from them that's free and now making good publicity to RELOADED as they tried (but failed) to take credit for the work? Yes then, RELOADED are not laughing at Ubi at all right now, no sir!
- Myztry, on 07/18/2008, -0/+18The software companies get the EXE copyright protected by a third party.
They don't have a friggin clue how it works, or how to remove it.
Ya'd thunk they'd have the 'master' EXE, but apparently not.
It good to see a company authorize the use of no-cd cracks anyway. - dasdef, on 07/18/2008, -3/+21bull ***** *****.
- debuggercll, on 07/18/2008, -0/+17I'm so hungry I could ride a horse.
- whatisnotmyname, on 07/18/2008, -1/+15No, I think you're missing the humorous point. You know what's great about setting rules for your stuff? You can change them. You're not subject to them. If my house rules say no baseball in the house, then I say screw it and decide to aim some balls at my TV... guess what? That's cool.
The humor is from the comments on that forum, with everyone yelling at Ubisoft for stealing from a group that didn't have the right to break the rules regarding their software but did so anyways, created a walk-around for some copy-prevention and then get p.o.ed because Ubisoft didn't ask the pirates for permission to steal their code. - amenic, on 07/18/2008, -9/+23Damn - you guys don't spend like hundreds of thousands of dollars on copy protection per chance do you? Only to break it? ROFL - best article ever.
- Premier, on 07/18/2008, -1/+15It's about time they see what we've all known for years, reloaded rocks
- Niz1, on 07/18/2008, -3/+16"RELOADED, a piracy group, which breaks Ubisoft's own rules on piracy."
Well if you think about it RELOADED haven't broken Ubisofts piracy rules if ubisoft have themselves put the crack up for use, its not exactly illegal in this situation is it. - Blandyman, on 07/18/2008, -0/+13What? Since when can the copyright owner not have a crack?
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+13Skillet?
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+13Yeah, I mean, now they can't complain, right?
- BrainInAJar, on 07/18/2008, -0/+12*couldn't have.
not "couldn't of" - cyclades, on 07/18/2008, -2/+14***** classic.
