- iskin, on 03/14/2009, -1/+30More like free weekend happening it's already a 1/3rd of the way done. But for $12 everyone should just buy the game anyways.
- TotalHalibut, on 03/14/2009, -5/+29Lol, console multiplayer FPS.
- mu0p, on 03/14/2009, -4/+26at $12 it's a no-brainer, and the server numbers have exploded since the free expansion was released...
- StreetPreacher, on 03/14/2009, -4/+24Umm... not on a PC you can't. Everybody knows that the best FPS gameplay is on the PC.
Enjoy running around with your nubby little joysticks. - Isocene, on 03/14/2009, -1/+18I was able to preload the game since Tuesday. It did take me until Thursday night to finish.
I play TF2 often and this was a nice change of pace. I can't remember the last time I played instagib. The servers I played on were filled with people who had no idea what was going on. Why the crap did they change the scoreboard from Tab to F1! I couldn't even reset it to Tab. - Jhiaxuz, on 03/14/2009, -0/+17You could pre load the game for this weekend. I had it ready to go since mid-week and it only took about 3 - 4 hours tops to download.
- mattcoady, on 03/14/2009, -0/+16It'll be baking soda on a hobo at those rates.
- crushfan, on 03/14/2009, -3/+18Haha, I really laughed at this one. Nice one CoD4.
- Zero82z, on 03/14/2009, -0/+14The UT scoreboard has always been F1, in every game.
- jfinke, on 03/14/2009, -0/+13The problem was a year and a half ago they released a steaming pile of **** and ticked off most of the UT community. EPIC doesn't embrace their customers like some other gaming companies I can name.
For $12 it is probably worth it, but it certainly wasn't worth the $50+ it was originally. - Icecold54, on 03/14/2009, -3/+16I've been a fan of UT series since 2k3 (too young to know about gaming when the original came out) and decided to finally purchase UT3 since it was at such a cheap price, because i couldn't afford it earlier.
I'm not sure why everyone is bitching so much, cause the game is still fast paced and runs well. Maybe not as "light" in jumping/movement terms as 2k4, but the game is not slow at all.
Playing on a full server with 28 people is a blast (while a bit frustrating because i die every 10 seconds, but i'm guessing that's cause i suck ;P) and it's action packed. The titan mutator is insane.
For $12, this is definitely worth purchasing. - Thebruce88, on 03/14/2009, -3/+14Seems people are finally realizing what a fun game this is.
- AmishRefugee, on 03/14/2009, -5/+16Although they finally worked out almost all of the kinks in UT3, it's still nowhere near as fun to play as UT2004 or UT99, which is just a shame
It looks pretty though.... - Jhiaxuz, on 03/14/2009, -2/+11I was going to try it out for free but then I thought about how much worse I could spend $12 (hookers, blow, blow on hookers etc...) and just bought it.
- DJMattB241, on 03/14/2009, -1/+10Too realistic? You're shooting aliens with lasers and growing 15 feet tall when you do that enough times.
Explain how UT3 is more "realistic" than UT99 other than having better graphics.
Don't blame other things because your computer is 10 years old and can't handle the game. - inactive, on 03/14/2009, -7/+16Yes, they need another free weekend. The servers were so busy that I couldn't download the game to play it. Valve should learn from their mistakes and allow people to pre-load the game to prevent their servers from being swamped at once.
- MrSteamTank, on 03/14/2009, -1/+912 bucks on hookers and blow? I´m telling you right now that you´re going to both get ugly ass hookers and most likely fake blow.
- Dabek, on 03/14/2009, -0/+6Well that sounds like an excellent marketing technique! PAY the players to play the game for a weekend, and get nothing in return! Brilliant!
- ParticleMan420, on 03/14/2009, -0/+6that should be a lesson to you for using a mac.
macs are for email at starbucks, PCs are for games. - Kuci06, on 03/14/2009, -1/+7it is not bad, but it has a HUGE flaw: as a (mostly) online game, it is necessary to have an online fanbase
well, this doesnt have none. every hardcore UT fan is playing UT2004, or the original UT
"new" UT players may like this, but the community doesnt like it. UT3 is just too simple compared to the older episodes. - slime73, on 03/14/2009, -2/+8Um... that might've been true before patch 2.0, but not anymore Kuci.
- counterplex, on 03/14/2009, -0/+5While I still think UT3 seemed to go back to basics a little - things seemed faster than UT2k3 at least and felt more like the original UT - but I agree with you on the sportification. I'm not sure why in a first person _shooter_ I need to somehow justify the fact that I'm killing people and respawning by somehow concocting some elaborate and unlikely physics scenario where I'm not really killing anyone and nobody really ever dies. Please don't try to make sense of it - just let me kill people and respawn; rinse, repeat.
- Kuci06, on 03/14/2009, -3/+8OOOOH GOOD FOR YOU!
AND HOW WAS IT? - Lunarbunny, on 03/14/2009, -0/+5Yeah, it has, but boy does Tab being console input get me in trouble after playing lots of Valve games.
- sexybobo, on 03/14/2009, -0/+5You could have preloaded it all week.
What they want with the free weekends it to play the game think it is fun and buy it since you already have the thing downloaded and set up. - mockidol, on 03/14/2009, -0/+5They've been allowing preload since monday.
- kahoona1, on 03/14/2009, -0/+4The scoreboard was like that in the first Unreal Tournament, can't remember the if it was in the 200x's, but probably.
- wondertwins, on 03/14/2009, -1/+5is the game worth playing it? i read reviews and they said it did bad.
- jjones20, on 03/14/2009, -0/+4i set it up as soon as it was announced and still didnt finish. I had steam issues this week and it wouldnt even start, had to reinstall and im stuck trying to download it again.
im just gonna buy it. - azizrulez, on 03/14/2009, -0/+4these free weekends have given new life to a very good game which for some reason people love to hate.
Apparently the UT 3 sales on Steam have gone up 3000% ever since the free weekend,im not genius, but that cant be bad for any of the parties involved. - spyd3rweb, on 03/14/2009, -0/+4Buy it for $12 just to send a message to the game companies that they are charging too much for games. If you want to see more free weekend games, be sure to get this.
- Crozz, on 03/15/2009, -0/+4They putting a story to it doesn't mean you have to care about it. The game still plays just like you want it to.
- WhiteHamster, on 03/14/2009, -1/+5It was on Steam, it's a PC program for PC games. The 360 version should be clearance at your local target, if they still have some. Check it out.
- keviniskool, on 03/14/2009, -2/+6Am I the only one who thinks Quake Live is crap, and probably should stay in the grave it has been in for the past ten years?
- iskin, on 03/14/2009, -0/+4Most games are not worth the $50+ they cost at initial release. There are just too many games on the market and coming to market for it to ever be worthwhile nowadays. If the game were flawless at release it would have been $50 game 10 years ago.
- blindrob, on 03/14/2009, -1/+4No one playing halo wants to play UT anyway, it's to hard for them.
There is also a major difference in terms of game play. Clearly you never played 2003/4 much. - Dracusis, on 03/16/2009, -0/+3About as fun as peeing yourself in public?
The original UT is still a lot more fun than this. - mooninite, on 03/14/2009, -0/+3UT3 for Linux Forever *sigh*
I'm not buying it until it's out for Linux. (oh yeah, big scary consumer base, I know) - foofightrs777, on 03/14/2009, -0/+3Well, it would have paid for your copy of the game so promoting it would be evne easier!
- mizike, on 03/14/2009, -0/+3Same problem here, I spent the whole first "free" day trying to download it without getting higher than 20%. Kind of gave up at that point.
- paker, on 03/14/2009, -5/+8I can play Quake Live anytime, free.
- inactive, on 03/14/2009, -0/+3I was wondering the same thing.
- tehjabba, on 03/14/2009, -0/+2WHAT!!! UT2004 ***** this game into the dust in terms of gameplay!
2k4s gfx may not be as technically good but they are more vibrant and appropriate for an online FPS if gameplay is your main priority.
Having said that UT3 is fun enough for $12 and beats alot of the other more pedestrian shooters for pure fun. - rheaume, on 03/14/2009, -0/+2Hoe this for making you feel young, when Quake1 came out, I had been out of my parents house for 7 years
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 03/14/2009, -0/+2I purchased the game on the North American release date. I didn't just buy the game. I bought it new.
I loved UT2k3 and UT2k4. All in all it was a good buy, albeit less than I had expected. - bigteebo, on 03/14/2009, -1/+3I wondered why I downloaded it for free. Last time I tried downloading the demo, it crashed a few times. After getting it to work, it seemed like a re-skinned UT 2004, but less fun. I just wish they would stay consistent with the naming. You going to go by simple sequel numbers(ut3) or by years?(2004). Don't switch back & forth.
- crossmr, on 03/15/2009, -0/+2you forgot to tell him to get off your lawn.
- iskin, on 03/14/2009, -1/+3FYP
The game blows YOU AWAY though. - iskin, on 03/14/2009, -0/+2Clearly you don't play this game because tons of people bought this game last week. In just a few days the game was revived and anyone who owns and plays this game can see that.
- tehjabba, on 03/14/2009, -0/+2...Well, it looks grimy, shiny and detailed anyway.
