The other day, when the bow was released, all the spys were saying ***** like "sweet, a sniper update, I'll be getting hundreds of backstabs," and things like that. Now snipers have a trick up their sleeves to handle those sneaky bastards.

In fact, they keep improving game balance! It seems so elementary, but I find their implementation of new features to be quite brilliant.

The theory is that there's a spy update coming, and spies might have some way to counter this.

- mrbang, on 05/15/2009, -1/+8The SMG is actually very helpful for expirenced snipers, if you can aim that is. Ever had a pyro run up to you trying to kill you and all you can do is run? Well pull out the smg and back pedal, it shouldnt take more then 2 clips to kill em, or if a scout gets close and you miss the head shot on him but manage to tag em, just pull it uot and if their not dead before the smg clip is up then lurn2aim :P I normally headshot them though :>

b) Doesn't sound to me like it's replaceable with ammo packs. More a one-use item.
With those points in mind I see the scenario being:
1. Approach sniper
2. Backstab sniper, breaking shield and getting zapped
3. Run & hide while knife cools
4a. Go back and finish the job if the sniper has gone back to their normal business
4b. Go find another target if the sniper has left
4c. Go back and get gunned down by the sniper waiting for you
Which seems like it will change the Spy/Sniper relationship to more of just a diversion. You won't always be able to kill the snipers outright, but you can keep them occupied for longer while they're paranoid about your presence and trying to hunt you down after a failed backstab. IMHO this is good as it removes some of the lone-wolf deathmatch play-style from spies hunting snipers, and makes it more of a team activity. - raleel, on 05/15/2009, -0/+6heck, it runs good on 7600 grade. my PC is 3 years old and it doesn't even break a sweat with it.
