*slays ***** MySpace Digg look* - lazlonger, on 11/08/2009, -1/+29this dragonslayer ***** continues - i'm out of here. digg isn't THAT great.
this page runs like crap with scroll latency and glitchyness as a result of this stupid greedy ad. - FattyMagee, on 11/08/2009, -0/+26Dear Digg,
Go to hell with your giant scar faced man advertisement that takes up a third of my screen. I cant even read the comments here because theres so much ***** going on.
Sincerely,
Anonymous Digg ***** - Heiliger, on 11/08/2009, -0/+25It seems as though every week, another percentage of Digg page real estate becomes advertising.
- mickstephenson, on 11/08/2009, -0/+19It's all gone black now which looks weird, but definitely an improvement.
- Zippo, on 11/08/2009, -1/+18Heh... Lore. Get it?
- heavystone, on 11/08/2009, -0/+17Good example of just how arrogant a Star Wars fan can be. Thanks. What are you 12?
What is "better" is in the eye of the beholder. Please go back to your "YouTube" community and comment there instead. Your blatant standpoint is just appalling.
There is room for both Star Wars and Star Trek. Hell, I like them both and live happily. - Kronos6948, on 11/08/2009, -0/+16This looks to be the first MMO I'm going to buy and play religiously.
To block the ad in the background here, put this in your AdBlock Plus:
http://cotnet.diggstatic.com/img/skins/* - mcphilip, on 11/08/2009, -1/+15Alright, that's it. I'm out of here. Well done Digg. I hear reddit is worth looking at? I'll have to give it a try.
- jeremymccurdy, on 11/08/2009, -1/+10Weren't they supposed to implement the whole Romulus being destroyed thing into the game? It kinda seems like a massive plot point was completely ignored.
Also:
<--- ***** this *****, I was actually going to buy Dragon Age until this annoying ***** happened. I'm pirating the hell out of the game just out of spite. - pkmccoy99, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8I GET IT!
- ratnacage, on 11/08/2009, -1/+9When their attempt to make money makes the site uglier than reddit, then yes they are stupid.
/you used to be cool digg - etherreal, on 11/08/2009, -0/+8Did you just put DS9 on the same level as Enterprise? Look out, your n00b is showing.

All the ads and the spaces where they used to be are now gone , but you have a black background.
To remove this you have to use a custom CSS for digg and the easiest way to do that is to use the stylish plugin.
Install Stylish : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/210 ...
Install the userstyle to restore the original look : http://userstyles.org/styles/22411
You can also modify the userstyle to make Digg look better if you want.
I changed the max width from :
max-width: 1200px !important;
to :
max-width: 95% !important;
And now Digg looks like this : http://imgur.com/yunro.png - juliusthecat, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7So you claim that Star Wars is better than Star Trek only if you discount half of the Star Wars movies? You can't have your cake and eat it too.
- Alexbalix, on 11/08/2009, -0/+7I thought Lore was Data's evil brother.
- bubbameister33, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6They should make a Farscape MMO.
- mkriss5681, on 11/08/2009, -0/+6I kinda wish they make another star trek series about a Federation vs Klingon war.
- solidcan, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5People still watch TV?
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6I am a trek fan - but I am not feeling this game
- Kardde, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5This game looks like *****.
These new digg ads look like *****, too. - Rodalli, on 11/08/2009, -1/+6Holy crap, you're a dork. Who goes on Digg and tries to start and argument about Star Wars vs. Star Trek? I haven't heard people arguing about that since the 80's. That's too nerdy, even for Digg. Go back to your basement.
- tavisjohn, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5Black is better than that ugly image!
- sodoh, on 11/08/2009, -0/+5yea seriously, I mean wtf are they going to try and jam adverts into next?
- harsesus, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4I think my head would explode from joy if that happened
- insanebrain, on 11/08/2009, -1/+5Why is Digg pushing his users away with this TOTALLY CRAP background ad ? Buried article for background ad.
- JasonCox, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4If Enterprise would have continued it would have happened eventually.
- gdo01, on 11/08/2009, -0/+4I thought DS9 and some of the non-canon books that followed made it clear that the Klingon Empire was going to be a threat to no one for some time and that even after that they would still require the Federation to sustain what they had.
- fandyllic, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3Ditto.
- sodoh, on 11/08/2009, -1/+4I commend you on this, but seriously why the fuk bother. It is still giving them page hits which they can sell to their advertisers who then just put more crap onto the page.
Going to look at some other social news sites. - fandyllic, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3It's nice to know Star Trek is not dead, but this pseudo trailer makes me *yawn*. Surprise, yet another ship battle based MMO. They didn't show hardly anything about on planet stuff. Might as well play EVE Online. It is much more mature and is less likely to have the many problems a new MMO from an unproven dev house will likely have. The returns aren't fully in for Champions Online. It is shaping up to be a pretty mediocre MMO, but probably better than City of Heroes.
- jeremymccurdy, on 11/08/2009, -0/+3No, but I'd buy Pepsi out of spite if I saw a god awfully annoying Coke ad.
- vulcanius, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3I love ST, but I'm sorry, that combat looked boring and stupid. But then again, it was "pre-beta" footage.
- juliusthecat, on 11/08/2009, -2/+5Great - now the background is black.
- copypastry, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2I thought the Klingon-Federation peace would be a little bit more durable than "omg Klingons get xenophobic and look for people to blitzkrieg", especially after the Dominion war.
- adml_shake, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2I'm excited for the game so far and have only noticed a few things that I hope they fix later on with updates or expansion packs.
But.....has anyone heard anything about the Stargate MMO? - Borgcube, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3Exactly. Don't feed the trolls.
- bluddystool, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2I was just watching TOS yesterday and its quite amazing how much Star Trek has evolved away from actually being Star Trek. It's supposed to be about the people, not warring factions and ship battles. Those should just be an added bonus. But that really seems to be the only focus anymore.
- Angostura, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2That was my thought too. Now this stuff is *pre-alpha* I think (quick moving caption at the beginning) but nonetheless, it looks weak. Perhaps this is just a danger of building a game based on a TV/Movie franchise with a large effects budget.
Apart from the ship shading and rendering, which wasn't too hot the actual ship movement was too fast and jerky - no sense of mass and inertia. - 64705, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3You can revert back to the usual Digg format by using the Firebug addon.
Just follow these simple instructions to change the style (courtesy of mabsark):
http://i.imgur.com/YfvAi.png
http://i.imgur.com/QdpJZ.png
The only problem is I have no idea how to keep this style (I'm a Firebug noob) for all subsequent pages. Anyone care to help? - 64705, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3The stylish addon is a good solution.
- lazlonger, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2i'm a novice adblocker, believe it or not I just started using it!. so how do I block it? please tell all.
adblock default setting do not take care of it. - Angostura, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2For a nice mission-based game with lots of shooting, a Firefly uinverse would be cool.
- Angostura, on 11/08/2009, -1/+3Actually the best way to slay the look would probably be a sustained write-in e-mail campaign to the Bioware marketing department explain politely but insistently how *annoying* theiir campaign is - right up there with pop-ups and blinking banners - and how it serves to put you *off* the game.

In Firefox, right-click to View Background Image, and then block the image server. - DooM, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2Really..? I respect your opinion but I watched this thing and was just horrified... I love Trek and this is a guaranteed sell for me, but the story is warmed over dumb. I mean, first of all, with the shape shifters trying to take the place of a powerful Klingon... didn't we do that in DS9 with the Dominion Wars..? I really hope you're right and this doesn't suck.
- DooM, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2The old school TOS games were actually really cool... I mean they're probably 20 years old now, but I played the ***** out of those things.
- PhoenixReborn, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2I would consider myself a nerd and yet these producers made me cringe. Why do games insist on getting the game designers to hype their game instead of someone who can actually speak well? Also, why are they staring off to the side for most of the interview?
- Kronos6948, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1True...that was done in DS9, but think of it this way...they needed a reason to start a war between everyone involved. Romulans/Remans (started in Nemesis) war happens, so the Klingons take advantage to "reclaim lost lands". So, it's a bit different. They found a way to spin things so that no matter what species you choose to be, you're involved in a fight with just about everyone else. Besides, I'm more interested in gameplay. As long as I don't have to spend long hours gold(latinum?) farming, then I'll continue playing.
That's what killed WoW for me..It was too slow in the beginning for me. - Greengoo, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1It took me 4 seconds to remove it with Adblock.
Bye. -
