- Ecanem, on 03/25/2009, -7/+116I like the fact that the report was made by the PC gaming alliance. Very objective!
- slaws24, on 03/25/2009, -5/+60according to a new report by the PC Gaming Alliance.....
- Nateon, on 03/25/2009, -1/+51In other news we have a message from the National Pancake Institute: "***** Waffles"
- roxgod666, on 03/25/2009, -3/+45Playing a RTS on a console is more awkward than Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
- ghostlywind, on 03/25/2009, -4/+37I've owned a lot of consoles but no matter what i always come back to the PC. I have always had a better experience playing games on the PC.
- browwiw, on 03/25/2009, -2/+32According to Table Top Gaming Alliance the best games involve dice and actual friends.
- ONeilcool, on 03/25/2009, -2/+27More often then not, if you have a good computer you prefer PC over console. The people who don't like PC's usually don't have a good enough computer to play games on.
- Darkkshadow449, on 03/25/2009, -2/+22Starcraft.
Nuff said. :) - Brak710101, on 03/25/2009, -3/+22I think "all the really good games on consoles" is personal opinion.
PC has Counter-Strike, Battlefield 2, Half-Life Series, World of Warcraft, lots of good RTS games, Crysis, Portal...
Stuff like that. Add in things like steam, and you have a really great gaming environment. And the nice thing is that you're not locked into one Marketplace like XBL or PSN. - inactive, on 03/25/2009, -6/+24What, you thought it was a Mac? hahahaha
- brandnewx, on 03/25/2009, -2/+18And the Xbox Gaming Alliance and PS Gaming Alliance say it's not true...
- rockon4life45, on 03/25/2009, -1/+17I love how it has to be a competition. I'm a console gamer through and through but I don't go and tell people that console gaming is better than PC gaming or that PC gaming is terrible. Just play what you prefer and enjoy it.
- Dougman82, on 03/25/2009, -2/+17The only beef I have with PC gaming is the hastle factor.
First, there are sometimes issues with getting the game to run on your particular setup. Maybe you've got to upgrade to a newer driver. Or maybe the newest patch actually messes something up and you have to roll back to a previous version. Or perhaps you've lost your CD-key, so you have to jump on the interwebs and find a crack or something.
Second, unless you've got a powerful system, you normally have to tweak the graphics settings and trade off some visuals for better performance. Not that this is particularly hard. But sometimes, there is a specific setting (ie, shadows in Neverwinter Nights 2) that is, almost unilaterally, killing your performance, and you have to find it.
Third, there's always the possibility of the occasional crash to the desktop, which only adds to the frustration.
Having said that, I have gotten all my games to run just fine. But there is a certain something to knowing that you can put the game disc into the console and it will run exactly as planned. - pandaplaya, on 03/25/2009, -4/+19well of course - World of Warcraft doesn't come on any other platform...
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -3/+17I see your awkward RTS games, and raise you awkward FPS games.
- Chompy, on 03/25/2009, -1/+15Personally I agree, however I do tend to question such a result when it comes from the "PC Gaming Alliance".
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -1/+14quality RPG's and RTS games are what make it better than console imo. Also, theres tons more precision in FPS games. There are a few gems on console though, like the MGS games.
- FordSVT1, on 03/25/2009, -0/+13Oh ffs, I've probably been gaming for longer than you've been alive, my first "gaming" rigs were the Vic 20 and a TI-99/4A. I cut my fps teeth on Wolfenstein and Doom, not Halo and CS.
So please don't lecture anyone about who's a noob and what people like to do once they've played on a PC, smart people who are able to would do both, because both sides clearly have pros and cons that are going to be based around individual tastes and gaming habits. - anixmander, on 03/25/2009, -0/+12B-but, the Department of Waffles said that the market for pancakes is gone flat!
I don't know who to believe! - DevSingh1359, on 03/25/2009, -6/+18This is news?
- ripple123, on 03/25/2009, -1/+12yes. i imagine if you intentionally skewed the figures in favor of the console, for no good reason, then the pc wouldnt compare so well after all. Idiot.
- Simssega, on 03/25/2009, -1/+11Really who gives a *****?
Its like politics, no ones going to change their mind no matter how good the facts or arguments are. - jjones20, on 03/25/2009, -1/+11when you break it down alot of games are also getting PC releases now, and are cheaper on the PC too.
Ive bought a ton of stuff recently off of steam, thats mainly where i get my games now, in the last few months ive bought more games off of steam than i have for my consoles. - e36wheelman, on 03/25/2009, -2/+11Almost every good game launches on or eventually makes its way to the PC. The only ones that don't are console exclusives. And every system has their own exclusives, including PC, so its not really a valid point.

Sony has a ***** ton of exclusives... that I don't care to play.
PC has been around too long to have a relevant top games list on MC, so here are some:
Every RTS/4x/Turn-Based strategy game - Total War series, World in Conflict, Command and Conquer series, Sins of a Solar Empire, GalCiv2, Civilization IV, Dawn of War 2, Company of Heroes... all of them you might as well consider exclusives.
Indie/Casual Games - PC has exponentially more indie and casual games than XBLA and Wii combined.
Half-Life 2 (until recently) and Crysis are exclusive FPSs.
RPGs were king on PC until recently, so it still enjoys some RPG exclusives and all MMOs.
Also,
mouse/keyboard>thumbsticks.
Most newer GPUs plug in to HDTVs for living room gaming/HTPC setup.
About the only thing I see that makes 360 better is that XBL is the best GUI around. Steam is catching up slowly though. - Thray, on 03/25/2009, -0/+9You can look up porn on the Wii.
- X9001, on 03/25/2009, -2/+11If you think about it consoles are just trying to be more like PC's
- CaptObvious, on 03/25/2009, -3/+12I did the research for this article.
- tigerbot779, on 03/25/2009, -3/+12That's because my PC can provide me with other things that my 360 can't.
Yep. - allisonaxe, on 03/25/2009, -1/+10In other news, a poll of readers of Nintendo Power think that the DS is the best handheld gadget, and PSM reports that nothing is better than the Playstation 3.
- r1fl3m4n, on 03/25/2009, -0/+9Raining interceptors...
=/ - Visual77, on 03/25/2009, -0/+8Why can't we just accept that both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses? In the past 20 years, I've shifted back and forth from console to PC in multi-year spurts several times.
I was on console for NES and Genesis, then PC for awhile, then N64, then back to PC, then onto Gamecube/PS2/Xbox, then Wii/360/PS3 and now I'm back to PC (god damn Team Fortress 2 is well made).
I like both setups. I like sitting on a couch infront of a big screen TV. I think FPS is better with mouse/keyboard (although the Wiimote is really awesome at that...Metroid Prime 3 is a good example), I think anything requiring button combos is really awkward on PC (fighting games, beat em up, hack n slash), I think RTS is an abomination on a console controller.
Neither is all out better than the other. I spend money in both areas (Wii, PS3 and 360 vs a $1500 rig I built a few months ago... cost is kinda close), and I'll continue spending money in both areas, because I think both has something great to offer.
Even when it comes to multiplayer. I love hooking up with a few buddies on Team Fortress 2 and chatting it up while playing, but I just as much love getting those same people into my house and on my couch for some Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They are different experiences.
Why bicker and argue like children when we can just agree that they offer different experiences, and while some may prefer one over the other, they are both enjoyable in their own right? - inactive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+8Rock Music is better then Yodelling.
- Brak710101, on 03/25/2009, -2/+10Wait, is it like rare to own a computer? I think a lot of my friends have computers.
I think it's pretty standard these days, but I could be wrong...
And if you want to trade meaningless insults for no reason, consoles were cool when you were a kid. - ripple123, on 03/25/2009, -2/+10i hear theres this thing called the 'internet'. its like this really big games for windows live catalog, except its not run by microsoft, and anyone can add stuff.
- bobsbones, on 03/25/2009, -2/+10Console gaming won't ever be able to handle as complex games as a PC until consoles have a keyboard and mouse.
- ripple123, on 03/25/2009, -6/+14you seriously dont know what your talking about. just, no. when your ready to join the big boy world of gaming, get a pc.
- cmf2071, on 03/25/2009, -1/+8What's the weather like in Korea ??
- Blankford, on 03/25/2009, -5/+12this is true good sir
- 42Vindictive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7In other news, the Jews were never carted away and killed; according to a new report by the Holocaust Deniers Association.
- Chompy, on 03/25/2009, -2/+9Another benefit to PCs; higher barriers to entry. Generally it's more expensive and marginally more difficult to get online and gaming with a PC, and that's a *good* thing because it reduces the number of ***** 12 year old boys that I have to play with in public games. I know there are plenty of rugrats on the PC, but the percentage is definitely lower than what you're going to find on XBL or PSN.
- superbobd, on 03/25/2009, -3/+10lol, thats like a cookie factory saying cookies are supreme over muffins. Who ***** cares.
- e36wheelman, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7Steam is trying to create the "walled garden" DRM and updating of the consoles and also the connectivity of XBL. The ability to plug in 360 controllers is a nod that gamepads are better sometimes. Assassin's Creed sucked on keyboard.
Consoles are trying to be more moddable, like adding map editors for Halo 3 and Little Big Planet. They are also trying to be more like HTPCs by adding video downloads and media players. Also, the constant updating and DLC that has been a staple of PC games is getting more common in the console world. - e36wheelman, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7There is a reason computers have had mice for decades and consoles have had auto-aiming since 3d came along.
I'll give you one guess why... - ripple123, on 03/25/2009, -3/+10true. its not objective. dosent necessarily make it incorrect tho.
- ConfusedCartman, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7I don't understand this mentality. Some people like different gaming mediums. Why the ***** do people fight over it? Is it because you have some sort of distorted pride for your gaming rig of choice? Or is it because you can't afford one or the other, so you feel dedicated to proving your decision's validity?
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -7/+14Ugh, don't group Macs with PCs. Macs are for losers who think they're cool just because they have a rotten, bitten apple logo on their computer for which they overpaid by 50%.
- ripple123, on 03/25/2009, -3/+10consoles are toys compared to pcs. and lets not even talk about playing rts, fps, on a console. i mean, seriously..
- DevSingh1359, on 03/25/2009, -1/+7...and then came the announcement of OnLive.
http://pc.ign.com/articles/965/965535p1.html - e36wheelman, on 03/25/2009, -1/+7PC + DVI connection + HDTV + Wireless 360 controllers = console, outperformed.
