PC builder: Skulltrail is ‘overkill’ for games
tgdaily.com — And you thought there can never be enough of everything in a PC. Guess what: There can. BioHazard says that Intel ’s Skulltrail is so strong, you won’t be able to take advantage of its power if you are ‘just’ playing games. You’ll only see its performance when you are running an other software in the background.

Intel makes some rock solid systems sans OC'ing, I have owned a few myself.I was about to comment on Intel's lack of said over clocking on this Skulltrail, on the same page,.... ie: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php ... UM... OK!
- Emused, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1Digg me down, pwned by truncation.I swear it was a 6.0Ghz running on all 4 cores, insane.
- kraft123, on 05/05/2008, -1/+1I build computer systems from 1996! Today with 1500-2500 $ you can build a decent desktop for games! Of course, in the professional area, is another discussion!
- lacronicus, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3I'd have to say "decent" is more the realm of 800-1200, I'm looking at a build right now with a Q6600 and sli 9600's for $1300, and that's enough to tackle even Crysis at some good settings. Sure, you can spend as much as 10,000 dollars on a gaming PC, but that doesn't make the $1300 build any worse a system.
- SilentStrider, on 05/05/2008, -0/+4Like lacronicus said, the $1,000 range is really a good spot for a decent gaming PC. If you're a careful shopper and willing to wait as long as a month or two, you can snag some sweet deals and bring that price even lower.
- robomixx, on 05/05/2008, -1/+2Ah, But can it run Crysis?
- mCanada, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2If I hear the word "ecosystem" one more time, I'm going to throw up all over my keyboard. Unless your a biologist by trade you do not have the exclusive 50 year rights to the word.
- lacronicus, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1At least they know the difference between "your" and "you're."
