And the main reason IMO that halo garners so much attention is the weapons especially the needler requires no aiming, just point in the general direction you want and fire, the ammo tracks the foes and then acts like a grenade. Hell even the pistol does the same thing when charged. The game requires almost no accuracy except for maybe the sniper rifle. Playing Halo the first time was the most disappointed I had ever been in a game after reading and hearing all the hype surrounding it.

- GawtMilk, on 10/14/2007, -12/+59It is a re-release of existing games. Nabacular Drop is Portal, Team Fortress Classic is Team Fortress 2, and any game in the Half-Life series equates to Half-Life 2 : Episode 2.
The difference is, whilst you're paying $59.99 for Halo 3, the Orange box is $49.95 for Portal, TF2, HL2, HL2:EP1 and HL2:EP2. I've only had the chance to play Team Fortress 2 so far, but it's EXCELLENT. HL2:EP2 is a continuation of the best video game plot ever created, and Portal looks like an insane game. I cannot wait to get a new motherboard / copy of XP, as these games look fantastic.
How can you say "Halo has raised the bar of what to expect", when you say that the Orange Box is just sequels?
I'd say you're upset that we get five games for the price of a second-hand copy of Halo 3.

I've been hitting myself for not having a PC that could run HL2 and being able to play at last that same game with all settings maxed + updated graphics + 2 episodes + TF2 and Portal... sorry BioShock, my GOTY goes to Orange Box.

- Hoojo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20It seems that for all the quality material you get with the Orange Box, it would get a 10. Bioshock got a 10, and while it is a excellent must-buy game, Half-Life 2 is incredible, and Team Fortress 2 will be an online mainstay.

I dont know about other people but Steam works perfectly for me. They created the real MOD community hence great games like CS.
No other game has achieved what HL1 and 2 has done for the world gaming. Maybe Super Mario and Metal Gear Solid back in the day. - Rupan, on 10/19/2007, -1/+18Portal alone deserves a 9.5 the only bad thing about it is how short it is and the main story is relatively simple havent cracked into the Advance stuff yet. Team Fortress 2 is one of the best Online Multiplayer games I have played in ever. (Didnt do TF1/C) Honestly UT3 will have to bring some serious game to the table to dethrone it for me. And I havent even touched Episode 2 yet, but I think those 2 alone should net it a 10.

- walkingdogs, on 10/14/2007, -4/+20Thats my whole point and the reason that so many console gamers love halo. It was the only way a developer could make a truly fast paced enemy intensive shooter on a console. Give them guns that home in on enemies and grenades with floaty physics that stick to enemies. That formula would have never worked on the PC where quick reflexes and accuracy is key to a good FPS. Bungie dumbed down the FPS formula to give gamers with dual analog sticks as the control method a fighting chance against that many enemies. And don't get me started on the machine gun in halo and it's ridiculous accuracy from distance while running and gunning.
