- natslovR, on 09/30/2008, -4/+114It shocks me that something was written that couldn't meet EA's own quality expectations. Not meeting consumer epxectations is fine, that's normal for EA, but to not meet their own.. I wouldn't have thought that was possible.
- LeviTheSmith, on 10/01/2008, -0/+90BRING BACK WESTWOOD!
- SerialMartini, on 10/01/2008, -0/+80Wait....EA has quality standards?
- Shogi, on 10/01/2008, -0/+64I guess they were having trouble making the DRM a big enough pain in the ass. Surprising though, EA canning a game because it sucks. Usually they just make 3 ***** sequels instead of 4.
- elitexero, on 09/30/2008, -5/+60But renegade was genuinely good.
- GeorgeStone2, on 10/01/2008, -0/+46Don't worry EA, I don't have any quality expectations of you.
- 9bpm9, on 10/01/2008, -0/+42Isn't EA the company that's the king of shovelware?
They could of just stopped developing halfway and sold it for 50 bucks. - malibusurf, on 10/01/2008, -0/+40if low quality is the issue, 80% of EA's catalog should be canned.
- Zetsubou, on 10/01/2008, -0/+37"the game just isn't coming together well enough to meet our own quality expectations"
Whoa, it's not even good enough for EA? You know a game's horrible when... - inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+37Like EA actually has quality standards to begin with...
- Jeepy, on 10/01/2008, -0/+31Good now EA doesn't get to piss on the grave they put C&C into.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+20WESTWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Macuyiko, on 10/01/2008, -1/+19Not meeting EA's expectations = "won't give us money".
- Skab, on 10/01/2008, -0/+16In other news development of MADDEN 10 Is underway, NOW WITH MORE JUKING!!
- bigbenorr, on 10/01/2008, -0/+13the multiplayer was awesome
- EnterReality, on 10/01/2008, -1/+14This game had a lot of promise.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -1/+13EA has quality expectations?
- Optimaximal, on 10/01/2008, -0/+12Only a really twisted individual would consider Tiberian Sun the pinnacle of the C&C franchise.
- sanman, on 10/01/2008, -0/+11I liked the fact that you could actually go inside those famous structures that you knew from the original CnC RTS game., and penetrate deep inside their underground levels, etc. That was so cool. It had a bit of a GI Joe feel, like you were penetrating a Cobra base.
- estacado, on 10/01/2008, -1/+12Just like Starcraft Ghost.
- ruded0g, on 09/30/2008, -0/+9Here's a link to the direct source quoted from joystiq's article......
http://kotaku.com/5057012/ea-axes-tiberium-for-not ... - Spuy767, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9Here's a translation from EA Speak: This game would be WAAAAY harder to do than to just squeeze out another Madden turd. To boot, the target market would call us out on it if the game sucked. So we've decided to go with the sure thing.
- Scrappy1850, on 10/01/2008, -1/+10same company that released madden 07 at 30 hz and NBA live 07 with no widescreen support
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+9It almost seems like all the negative press is starting to bother EA. Almost.
- TommyHigh, on 10/01/2008, -1/+10They should release a free multiplayer-only version with what they already have... as sign of good faith?!
- MOates, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8You were wrong.
- str3ama, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Renegade was one of the most underrated games, along with Beyond Good & Evil (but that's getting sequel at least). The mechanics and vehicles were a great addition, and I think it came out before Battlefield so it's pretty impressive. The plot was a little weak and they went for CGI cutscenes instead of the notoriously cheesy human + cgi cutscenes, which is probably why it didn't sell so well.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -1/+9EA has standards?
- solidcube, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7YES!
Under EA, this would have been massive, ungodly suckitude. Like Spore. The Spore debacle, and now this, make me wonder if EA is under some kind of cash crunch. - dougmc, on 10/01/2008, -0/+7Of course they do.
It's just that they define quality differently than you do --
EA: Quality game = makes EA money.
You: Quality game = good, well done, fun, stable, replay value, etc. - ryansimbalist, on 10/01/2008, -2/+8NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
- Cerialthriller, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5or maybe it was a really great game and the EA hacks couldnt see that and thought it sucked. Or they couldnt find a way to nickel and dime you with DLC like they can on XBL
- uskomaton, on 10/01/2008, -2/+7Honestly, I don't care what it is, if EA cancels it, it can only be a good thing for us.
- saigumi, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5What is "Quality Standards" in regards to EA? I guess that really means they couldn't release tons of little expansion packs that add a few outfits for $20 a box. Or was it that quality wasn't low enough?
- chaos7, on 10/01/2008, -2/+7the funniest thing about all this is how EA says it's because the game is not up to their standards.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Noooooo!...back to the reality of female rejection!
- Checkerd, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Penetrate.
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -1/+6I am surprised EA stopped something, when they had a Need For Speed with a helicopter dropping barrels of dynamite I really thought they were out for a buck. Maybe they have someone in EA who has some sense. Hopefully we can get that individual to scrap DRM in the process.
- GoEKniGhtofNi, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5there is an "again" missing in the title
- inactive, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4If the quality wasnt good enough for EA then i guess it must have been truly awful.
- lobsterxcore, on 10/01/2008, -1/+5This is ***** disgusting. That game had some serious promise to it.
But hey, maybe they'll release some Spore expansions! WOOT!
:( - LeviTheSmith, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4I'm 16 now but I used to play Red Alert on my PS1 and Command and Conquer on my 64. They got me into the series. On my first pc I played RA2.
- MrFurious2k, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Seriously, EA is proof its time for another developer to rise up and take its place.
- twodollars, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Thats like saying that I dont think that any Final Fantasy game could get better than X-2.
- adml_shake, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4I keep looking at the calender to make sure it's not April 1st, or for the Onion URL but I can't seem to find it. EA? Quality standards? Come on...
- Yakoloi, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Je-ne-sais_quoi is french for "I don't know what"
its fancy way of saying you don't have the words to describe what it is you like about something. Its something people say to make themselves sound smarter lol - Mungo616, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4I agree; it wasn't anything outstanding but it was a solid, straightforward FPS. Plus it was pretty interesting to see the CNC world from the perspective of a grunt.
I was reasonably looking forward to this, so this comes as a disappointment to me. - honesttussey, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Damn. They had a completely playable working game (judging from the youtube). That's ALOT of work. Canceled for sub-par quality? Yea I call ***** EA. You're like a PC Game whore. You'll release anything if you think you'll make a few bucks. I suspect it was canceled for something more devious.
- pigfister, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3EA are anti-consumer and their games mostly suck and are full of bugs so who cares.
- sparksalot, on 10/01/2008, -1/+4RA2 was the best one.
