- elliotys, on 10/10/2009, -0/+49One of my major complaints of the first one (if I had to make one, I think the game is near perfect) was the repetitiveness of the side missions.
1)Land on generic looking planet
2)Drive around generic looking planet
3)Shoot some guys
4)Leave
I hope they somehow changed it up a little, either through different terrain types, or multiple vehicles to use. - V2Blast, on 10/10/2009, -0/+44This is a terribly written article about the sequel to an excellent game (and hopefully the sequel will improve on the few faults of the first).
- Thistlejack, on 10/10/2009, -1/+36Pretty accurate, but you forgot
2.5) Get attacked by the same species of giant worm which seems to live on every planet. - WhereAmI, on 10/09/2009, -3/+36Then they can go play one of the other 500 shooters that came out this year and next.
- clondike7, on 10/10/2009, -0/+27I really hope this is true and not the usual over-exaggeration they do before a big game. I loved the first Mass Effect, and if the 2nd one is just as good I'll be happy. So please, please, Bioware, prove my skepticism wrong once again!
- Redzin, on 10/10/2009, -0/+23The elevators where instead of loading screens. Personally I'd rather hear a radio broadcast or the NPC's conversation than watch a loading screen.
Of course, not having to load at all would be most preferable. ;) - shadowloo, on 10/10/2009, -1/+17please no more elevators
- Andrewbot, on 10/10/2009, -0/+13All four of them.
- Halsfield, on 10/10/2009, -0/+13They did have a bit of info on the encyclopedia thing that gave a reason for the worms being spread around the galaxy I believe.
- Kohaxx, on 10/10/2009, -1/+13"Major Shepard had a couple of love scenes in the previous game. The bar has now been raised and the game will have more passionate scenes done in the right way."
Woohoo! More human on blue alien action!
"Grunt: A Krogan and a powerful one. This Alien can charge and take out hordes of enemies together."
Also Wrex better still be there, you can't replace the Krogan from the first game!
My largest complaint about the first one was that all of the side mission planets were cookie cutter dead rocks (or generic spore covered rocks) with a couple bases and a lot of terrain sealed off even though they had great storyline elements there. Hopefully they're going to make the planets more unique, or at the very least put more to do on them. - threepm, on 10/10/2009, -0/+11Can not wait for this.
- Redzin, on 10/10/2009, -0/+11I actually think he's right... I have completed Mass Effect more than once but I would be pissed off no end if I hadn't. You can't put a ***** spoiler in the description like that.
- Thistlejack, on 10/10/2009, -0/+11Yes... That article reads like a babelfish translation.
- Redzin, on 10/10/2009, -0/+11Agree. In my opinion they should make the side missions longer and give them a better plot.
I'd rather have 30 very good, story driven and interesting side missions than 150 generics as you described. :) - kingatrock, on 10/10/2009, -0/+10If you'd actually played Mass Effect you'd understand the triumph that Bioware created. I can't wait for ME2.
- kingatrock, on 10/10/2009, -0/+10Wrex was my favorite character best part was on Noveria when that head of security chick gets crazy and says you're dead. Wrex says, "We'll see about that, bitch."
I was like.. whoa.. Wrex has balls! - scyphozoa, on 10/10/2009, -0/+9IM A KROGAN
- RGB0099CC, on 10/10/2009, -0/+9So the some people that want to shoot ***** aren't satisfied with CoD, Halo, Killzone, Resistance, the Battlefield franchise, Half-life, TF2, CS:S, Gears of War, Crysis, Doom, Fear, and countless others? (I know I didn't mention some sequels there, just add the 2s or 3s yourselves)
Basically, if you were wondering, my point is that you're comment is indefensible and retarded. - Cloned, on 10/10/2009, -0/+9I hope Garrus makes an appearance.
- mixomatosys, on 10/10/2009, -1/+9that's a bold statement of a title for a game that hasn't even come out yet.
- firesights, on 10/10/2009, -0/+7Wow, thanks for this. Screw who's digging you down, I haven't beaten Mass Effect yet, and I am not reading this article because of said spoiler.
So yeah, thanks a lot. =) - bubbameister33, on 10/10/2009, -0/+7Words to put Shakespeare to shame, you are the most brilliant orator of our time. You should be on T.V. or the radio so every can hear the fine words pieced together from your mind. Voice of a generation indeed!
- I010011010, on 10/10/2009, -1/+7A new standard for Mass Effect? Are there _four_ different warehouses this time?
- reyoo30309, on 10/10/2009, -0/+6"Hey, you got cat food in my dog food."
All jokes aside I love Mass Effect but then again I am an rpg player. - kingatrock, on 10/10/2009, -0/+5Mass Effect 1 was amazing. Excited for ME2. I'm such a fan, it wouldn't bother me if they released it on ps3 as well.. everyone needs to play this game!
- V2Blast, on 10/10/2009, -0/+5So your logic is that they saw that people enjoyed an RPG, and then continued making RPGs, and that somehow this means that RPGs and shooters don't mix?
...I'm confused. - retral, on 10/10/2009, -1/+6Stupid title shenanigans. It can't set ***** if it's not out yet. Stick with the article title '..going to..'
- vizerei, on 10/10/2009, -1/+6"Omega which is a space station and Purgatory which is a starship."
or the better way: "Omega Station and Starship Purgatory"
"Thane: A feared assassin. I wonder if there are going to be assassin missions in the game."
Are you a professional writer? Or just a 13 year old?
"Mass Effect 2 will take place two years after the events of Mass Effect 1. The Reapers have been stopped from destroying Citadel and Saren is dead."
Really? Seriously? That's what happened? So not before the events, but after? WOW!
"Holding the bumper buttons and than selecting the weapon or the inventory was a bit dodgy,"
Ok, grammar nazi moment, THEN.
Ok you're right, this article blows ass chunks of nastiness....
Regardless, I can't wait for ME2! - Halsfield, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4In an interview they gave early on in the process they said they were taking care of that issue because so many people complained about the elevators..
- Yomoska, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4I seen a video where you have to scan certain areas of a planet (not just the whole thing) and when you find something interesting you can land there. When they landed they showed a big forest, I don't remember them mentioning this was side-planet though.
- Halsfield, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4ME1 was probably my favorite game I played that year. Best storyline, great expansive world with a great setting and graphics (especially for a game developed to run on the xbox and pc). Characters that felt alive and you wanted to help them out on their side quests (even though I still need to complete 1 or 2). The free-roam planet areas were fun to stomp around in, just wish for a bit more variety on combatants(mercenaries x10000 or geth x10000 + 1 worm). The entire game felt epic and thats how i like my sci-fi.
Have they said in any interview/dev log/etc what the new threat is? At first I thought it might be the geth run amok since the end of ME1, but I think that would be a bit unimaginative. Just curious if anyone heard any hints about this. - Halsfield, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4You sir are a dunce.
- Kimera2006, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4Heck ya. lets see some Krogran on Human action or is that just me?
- kingatrock, on 10/10/2009, -1/+5play 120 hours of fallout 3?
- sTiKyt, on 10/10/2009, -0/+4What's the reason to allow players to make huge decisions with their characters story line if you have to dump 'em all in the next sequel. ME2 is supposed to have a huge range of endings, are most of these going to be ignored in ME3?
I hope the developers haven't taken the lazy arsed approach you pointed out. - Smiley09, on 10/10/2009, -0/+3So what are you going to do instead?
- Falldog, on 10/10/2009, -0/+3As long as it sets a new standard for Mako handling.
PS. I'm glad the submitter changed the tense of the title. Here I was thinking it was about to be released soon. - Leezus, on 10/10/2009, -0/+3Mass Effect was awesome. Fantastic gameplay, and a pretty cool universe. However, the characters and story just didn't really work for me. Not like other Bioware games, at least.
Personally, I'd rather see another Jade Empire. - sTiKyt, on 10/10/2009, -0/+3Plus the elevator music version of the ME theme was awesome!
- nmanguy, on 10/10/2009, -0/+3After reading this, I can now assume that Gamingbolt.com has thrown away any respect for spelling, grammar and subject-verb agreement that it might have had.
- scyphozoa, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2no ezine review is going to do ME2 justice.
- mitrovarr, on 10/10/2009, -1/+3Whether NPCs go into sequels or not often depends on whether the player will necessarily have them. You don't want to have to record dialog based on NPCs that might have died off in the first game and thus be totally absent. You usually also won't see NPCs that had major decisions made on them in the first game, since they'd have to have a lot of duplicate dialog recorded.
NPCs that we almost certainly won't see: Wrex, Ashley, and Kaiden.
NPCs we probably won't see: Liara, dumped to make room for a new love interest (since she's have to be coded as both a past love interest and not one, depending on the player choice in the first.)
NPCs that are could end up either way: Tali. Just not interesting enough to be a fan favorite, but you never know. Kind of depends on how prominently the Geth feature.
Best chance of returning: Garrus. He has to live and always ends the game on your side and in roughly the same situation, and he was fairly well liked. - Kohaxx, on 10/11/2009, -0/+2Your predictions are totally wrong mitrovarr, they've already said in an earlier interview that either Liara/Ashely should have a huge part in the storyline as they will be pregnant in the future.
With any luck they're just expanding the cast, maybe there's a new class, causing three more subclasses, which explains the introduction of three new characters. - Barackalypse, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2I'm confused as to what they're trying to say with this sentence: "Control your conversation with physical moments of intense action"
Am I going to be in a dialog and instead of choosing a response I've got to perform some sort of intense combat maneuver to continue the conversation? - JediPilot, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2Deus Ex, *****.
- bubbameister33, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2For some reason that made me laugh.
- Arrestedevelopr, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2"The bar has now been raised and the game will have more passionate scenes done in the right way. Bioware has promised that the animations this time will be much more fluid."
When I first read that I thought it said "animations this time will have much more fluid", thank God I misread, I really don't want to see what type of fluids come out of an aroused Krogan. - Halsfield, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2I think you're assuming too much about the way ME2 will work and ignoring how ME1 worked. Your saved ME1 games will have an effect on the storyline of your character in ME2. If you chose a certain character in your me1 game and that is the saved game you choose for me2, then that is the character you will have in your new me2 game. The same as ME1 you will have choices that might push some characters away and bring in new ones. That is what I've gathered from the developer logs and interviews I've read so far. I just don't see any evidence of them kicking out any of their characters from the information we have now.
Mass effect was built around player choices changing the world they played through, and in my opinion those choices will be the ones you are continuing from in mass effect 2, because that is how the game was set up. - acknotSW, on 10/10/2009, -0/+2As much as I've enjoyed a lot of the games, IMHO, the 2 worst things to happen to pc gaming in the last 10 years were development of the FPS and RTS genera’s. It seems like all gaming innovation completely stopped and the entire industry decided that those are the only kinds of games they were going to make from now on with the rare exception of a RPG or TBS a couple times per year.
What happened to detailed flight simulators or epic space simulators? There used to be so much more verity in PC gaming. - TheKitchenSinkX, on 10/12/2009, -0/+1I'm very excited for this game, but this was one of the ***** articles I've read in a long time. Buried.
