- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -7/+236Absolutely not. Do you really want Korea to take over the world!?
- chocobomog, on 10/11/2007, -14/+221The issue is that he uses commentary in the last panel to point out the joke rather than let the image stand for itself. The "See, it is funny because Korea now looks like a penis!!!" commentary ruins the joke. Instead he should have emphasized the art more and let the reader see the joke rather than explain it to them. It would have also been a great contrast to the rest of the comic which was covered in text bubbles. Adding more words does not help the cause, let your art speak for itself...
- DrDragun, on 10/11/2007, -45/+232it should have been a smaller hardon in the pic :)
- AnteChronos, on 10/11/2007, -3/+189"Do you really want Korea to take over the world!?"
I'm sure that, if they actually looked like a pending threat, Dubbya would counter with a preemptive Zerg Rush: "This War is for the safety of the International community. It is not, I repeat it is *not* a 'war for Vespene gas' as some of my critics have claimed. Kekekeke". - ringworm, on 10/11/2007, -3/+112That last panel might be the worst punch in the history of comics.
- kingkilr, on 10/11/2007, -13/+97Hehe, I didn't get the splooge joke until later, at first I thought everyone needed pants because they were going to have to leave their houses to purchase SC2.
- squiggles, on 10/11/2007, -3/+81@chocobomog
agreed, i saw the last image and laughed my ass off, and then looked down at the text and it just deflated the whole joke - KMartSheriff, on 10/11/2007, -17/+95Am I the only one who thinks Ctrl+alt+del isn't funny?
I mean they had a great joke going, but then they had to ruin it by having the guy state the obvious. - Yegger, on 10/11/2007, -5/+79How wars should be solved
- Seifey, on 10/11/2007, -3/+61http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/292/ruinedcp9.jpg
- stevensj2, on 10/11/2007, -3/+59The 'text-to-funny' ratio of this comic is amazingly disproportionate.
- Aces, on 10/11/2007, -3/+47@Harbinger67
In other news, Korea is not China.
Goldfarmers = China
Really good sc players = Korea - xtmno3, on 10/11/2007, -3/+45HAHA! I didn't choose shared victory bitches! Prepare for imminent death from my fleet of fully upgraded carriers!
- jhammonds, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41It's like my grandma always said... 'The real money's in the dick and fart jokes.'
- rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -3/+43Yet another perfect example of the subtle, dry humor we've all come to expect from CAD. None whatsoever.
Also, Since when do North Koreans play Starcraft? Wouldn't that require access to a computer made some time after 1996? - guyperson, on 10/11/2007, -2/+33http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/7167/ctrlaltdelcomic1jg6.jpg
Excuse my horrendous photoshop skills, please. - parker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30there are 2 game channels on tv here that show almost 24hour/day starcraft with the occasional counter-strike or other fps match. there are multiple stadiums built for the sole purpose of having game tournaments. a number of people die every year by gaming to death.
i'm seriously guessing that a lot of people will be quitting their jobs and dropping out of school just to devote as much time as possible to this game. - VigilanteP, on 10/11/2007, -16/+40Not even remotely funny.
- Philodox, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23If you cover up the last panel's word bubbles with your fingers, it becomes so much funnier. Explaining the joke is never a good idea, except in the case of a football to the groin.
- chocobomog, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18@Philodox
Why cover up just that word bubble? There are many word bubbles that are not needed and should be removed:
Panel 1: "A flurry of..this past weekend" "...Which is being hailed as a success". We understand the time frame due to "In global news" and the comic's ongoing joke emphasizes the "success", it does not need to be stated.
Panel 2: "In shocking turn of events" or "World leaders were stunned". Both state the same point
Panel 3: "We have reports that... ratio near 1:1" Take out this exposition and put in a better image
Panel 4: "Okay, I'm sorry... hard on" See note above.
Imagine those words removed and more emphasis put on the art itself. This comic could be much better.
Tim can draw well, but his writing needs work. He needs to rely on his drawing skills and/or find a writer to help him with the comic (a Tycho to his Gabe) - timpkmn89, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Because it's like a national sport there
- TheGeek27, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Who says I have to be able to write a better comic in order to not like this one?
Are there movies you don't like? Are there books you don't like? Are there TV shows you don't like? Is there music you don't like?
Oh well, too bad, you're not allowed to say you don't like them because you can't do any better. - Misaiato, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15I was waiting for the last panel to have text saying "the renamed capitols of the re-united Korea will be Wong and Dong, respectively."
I really thought that's what was coming. /sad - MrSidnet, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12this was posted above, I dont take credit:
http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/7167/ctrlaltdelcomic1jg6.jpg - NarrativeCarpet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I found the 3V3-BGH treaty name amusing. If you played SC you'd get it.
- AdmiralKarelia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10rspeed: "Wouldn't that require access to a computer made some time after 1996?"
No, not really, actually. I played Starcraft on a 66MHz Mac from 1994. Just saying... - mattmollysdad, on 10/11/2007, -6/+15if it isn't funny how did it get to the front page?
- MrFatalistic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12OMG ITS A COX ITS FUNNY
- glenkim, on 10/11/2007, -9/+15buried because CAD isn't funny.
- jeo77, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Wow, when did we begin to analyze funny? Enjoy it, or let it go, its almost sad reading all these comments telling me what I just laughed at wasn't funny because it's "Yet another perfect example of the subtle, dry humor" and there is repetition in one of the speech bubbles... comon guys, if it wasn't funny, why was it dugg this much in the first place? It's one thing to give criticism, but here its not really constructive in any form, so its just degrading the comic. Give the guy a break, I laughed, its a good comic =)
- heinousjay, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Hey Akaji:
I don't make a web comic, but I know how to tell a joke. You don't explain the punchline after you've told it. It's not exactly rocket science. - Tossrock, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5God CAD sucks. That last word balloon ***** ruins it.
- bfdhud, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4The joke would have had more impact had they not brought attention to the penis shape. I chuckled when I saw the shape, and stopped almost immediately after reading the last bubble.
- rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Easy.
The title says "Starcraft 2" and doesn't mention CAD at all. People digg it thinking it's an article about riots or something and don't even click on the link. - hansip, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Blizzard is known for their 'optmized' game engine. It WILL RUN on 66mhz. Starcraft runs on 8-bit depth, that's just 256 color folks. Their games dont suck RAM like EA's do. I just hope SCII features a very deep plot just like SC. I tend to run through the campaign before jumping to BNet bandwagon.
- badken, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Tim Buckley is an ass.
- mortigon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Damn Koreans stealing our thunder.
WE LOVE SC TOO!!! - zomgPeterson, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Yeah, Tim Buckley is a huge *****.
- starvo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Your grandma ***** rocks.
- rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@ AdmiralKarelia
Fair enough. Let me rephrase that:
Also, Since when do North Koreans play Starcraft? Wouldn't that require access to a computer? - omegadude, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I never really found CAD to be funny. The characters are all so hackneyed. :|
- estvir, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I would say put "NR20" in but we both know they wouldn't last 30 seconds. :P
- Uranium118, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2They better not, that would be like shooting their franchise directly in the head.
- rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Oh, but I can write better comics.
- colincornaby, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"No, not really, actually. I played Starcraft on a 66MHz Mac from 1994. Just saying..."
I played it on a 60 mhz Mac! Beat that! - twertyto, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3bury
- BananaAmbush, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Haha, oh htaccess, you're such a card! (...fixed)
- BananaAmbush, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Let me restate my views on CAD with this easy to view animated gif:
