* Party System and Friendslist - Once again no reason that can't be done on dedicated servers, steam manages friend list fine and WAW had a friend list as well with dedicated servers.

If they want to charge for DLC, fine. They should compete with the free stuff created by the community.
If they want to implement matchmaking, fine. Matchmaking should be an *OPTION* in addition to dedicated servers that the community loves.
If they want to cut down on cheating, fine. VAC will help, anything better than the absolutely ATROCIOUS punkbuster that is more of a deterrant to online gamers than even the harshest DRM.
Spare us the ***** about how we'll like it "CAUSE ITS BETTER LOL".

What happened? 2 months in there were too few servers, because no one wanted to pay for hosting if they didn't have total control over it, so Valve started patching the game to add in a server browser and clan-only server options. Matchmaking does not work on PC, it barely works on the Xbox 360.

/s - AmnesiacJack, on 10/22/2009, -0/+22At this point I'd rather see them fail and have this bite them in the ass. Even if they did come out and say dedicated servers are back in it's to late because they have shown their true colors and that's greed. The only reason to do this is control / power.
They don't care about communities (my friends list isn't a god damn community, it's a friend list for close friends only) and that's what keeps me coming back to PC gaming and why I can pick up TF2 and within 5 minutes find a server filled with people I can get along with. On a matchmaking system I'd be waiting 5 minutes just for the lobby to fill up with random people who may or may not be similar to me at all (mic spammers, gangster wannabes, karaoke singers etc).

Party System and Friendslist
With dedicated servers there are no need for a party system and a friends list ever heard of Xfire and messenger programs. Its the PC we don't have problems with communicating with friends.... hell if they wanted to put a friends list in game they could have BF2142 had that in the game.
Cheat / Hack Free Games
***** there is no such thing as a "Cheat/Hack Free Game".
