        The game is badly designed (and not just when it comes to quitting), and everyone agrees that we shouldn't have to do it in 11 steps, I see no harms in suggesting to press alt-F4 (other than it might or might not leave stuff behind that might affect other games, but thats another story)

  • AddamXavier, on 04/27/2008, -3/+44i will say, this process makes only slightly more sense on the consoles since you could pull up the blade/menu at any time and quit out. all accounts I've heard of this game is that it was a rushed port. which, as a fan of the console version, makes me sad that all the PC owners will have such a negative experience of this enjoyable, if flawed, game.

People had to make 2+ gigs(1.4 gigs for the new textures and teh same ouint for upscaled cutscenes) of mods to make it look decent in HD resolutions on PC and then patch in mouse support. and even then it it wasn't worth it IMO.

Not only that but it didn't even have a quit button. The only way to get out of the game was to Alt+F4 it, which 9 times out of 10 would lock your PC up requiring a reboot.

This is something that on the first day of testing someone would have noticed that it takes a good 90 seconds to properly exit the game.

When you press A to start (although it says "press start" you can press A) it loads your previously saved game and then defaults to NEW GAME instead of CONTINUE. How stupid is that? If there is a save file, then default to continue that game, godammit! You spend years making a game and then ship it with that kind of stupid flaw!

But to be honest the game itself is quite good, the story line is cool and the gameplay mechanics are top notch. Its just not the type of game that does well for PC unless there are major changes made to it.

        And yes I play both PC and Console games.

Averaging forty fps normally means high teens when you get into firefights, even on medium settings.

          8800 GTS

          The trick is the resolution. If you try to play it at 1280x1024 it will be a slideshow because it has 524,288 more pixels to render. Oh and up to date drivers.

    You have to go to the main screen ANYWAYS to do anything. Just go there already....

        Secondly, I have a hard time trying to grasp why the response to almost anybody, anywhere, when they say they should play a different game than the suggested one sounds like this, "Those games are totally different genres and were made by totally different people." What I don't get is that most of the statements that provoke this answer have nothing to do with genre or developer. They just simply state that in the poster's opinion the other game is, indeed, better.

        P.S. Go ahead and install Linux, you'll like it.

    • aikonz, on 04/28/2008, -0/+02 gigs of RAM are no issue as the memory prices are low as hell and a 320 MB 8800 GTS works great for me. Crysis didn't even closely run as smooth as Assassin's Creed does.
