- rectifier, on 11/20/2007, -1/+50dugg for that epic Client-server Communication diagram.
- Edrick, on 11/20/2007, -4/+47I agree, digg can be time consuming.
Oh...wait a sec - DeathJux, on 11/20/2007, -3/+42I've always thought the problem with WoW was that it's too good... there's simply too much to do, and when all your friends are playing, too much fun to be had from the comfort of your own computer.
After losing 200 hours of my life to Phantasy Star Online, I've vowed never to play another MMORPG. So far, so good. - Cid420, on 11/20/2007, -6/+40Its not a waste of time if your enjoying yourself.....douche bag.
- whiteninja, on 11/20/2007, -0/+29[Retort!]
- Cid420, on 11/20/2007, -12/+41I play WoW and I have a life. I actually wish I had more time for WoW. About 4-5 hours 3 days a week raiding and a few hours once and a while to farm some gold. Thats not to much time so go ***** your stereotypes directed at WoW players. It is an addictive game but why the hostility to all the WoW players like your so high and mighty, get over yourself and respect peoples decisions to do what they want with there life's. If they are enjoying them selfs, they aren't "wasting time".
- Shawn4168, on 11/20/2007, -1/+27[What you just said, only cleverly turned around against Digg users]
- smthop3, on 11/20/2007, -0/+20[Irrelevant Ron Paul analogy]
- Dokument, on 11/20/2007, -0/+19I get the pony!
- dillyhoo, on 11/20/2007, -4/+20...Which you whittle away informing strangers on the internet about it.
- crawf061, on 11/20/2007, -0/+15Fine, I'll take the hat.
- Godlesswanderer, on 11/20/2007, -1/+15I don't play WoW anymore, haven't done for a year or so but this is pretty interesting. I would have loved to see an article about how EVE Online works though.
- BHull302, on 11/20/2007, -1/+13To the posters above...the average American watches 4 hours of television a day which comes out to 32 hours a week. I play WoW instead of watching television. These same people who stare at their glowing screen watching the latest sitcom are the same folks who criticize another person who stares at a glowing screen for a similar amount of hours doing another activity. So 99% of the people who make fun of WoW players are in fact calling the pot calling the kettle black.
- jrak, on 11/20/2007, -1/+12I prefer hello kittey adventure island.
- airwalkery2k, on 11/20/2007, -2/+13That's a good point. Sometimes people need to step back and look at that. Back when I used to play it, I spent about a month in the game after hitting level 60 (back when that was the max... I know, I'm an old geezer), and I realized I just wasn't enjoying the game any more.
I'm sure I can pick up the expansion packs and play again. But, yeah, it's a game just like Mario or bowling--a waste of time in exchange for entertainment. But, make sure you are having fun. - mlwarrior, on 11/20/2007, -1/+12I Just don't understand the stigma against WoW. I see people wasting hours a day on non-interactive, non-social activities such as television and fiction books. What makes that more acceptable?
- fLUx1337, on 11/20/2007, -2/+12Oh nice, here goes, lets see how many douches can tell me I have no life starting........NOW!

- Shirleycakes, on 11/20/2007, -1/+10I call ***** on the nay-sayers. "Flush it down the toilet"? As if it's a cigarette or bag of cocaine? This isn't a dangerous drug, it's a sodding video game that people CHOOSE to overplay. If playing it is worthless and a waste of time, then so is EVERY video game. At least in this one players have the ability to socialize, even if it's only through a computer.
That said, I don't own or play it, but I'll place money that those of you who are so heavily against it don't either. - graphicshadow56, on 11/20/2007, -2/+11This game isn't a waste of time if that is how you want to use your time. I do have to admit that it is completely unproductive and gets nothing done, but if that is what you want your life to be like, go ahead. I have spent 1200 hours on Guild Wars, and it was getting nothing done, but it is like watching TV. What else are you going to do on free time when everything is going perfect and you have nothing you need to get done?
- Shirleycakes, on 11/20/2007, -0/+9I played WoW when it first came out, and I played it in moderation just as any other game. I'm also a former coke addict, and I have to say that making a comparison between the two at BEST can be called grossly inaccurate, but is more in the realm of insulting.
- kjizzle, on 11/20/2007, -1/+9I can: masturbation. It's all some of us have.
- azbmr, on 11/20/2007, -0/+8[Grammar/Spelling Nazi Critique]
- brstilson, on 11/20/2007, -0/+8The thing about MMORPG's is that often the players do not enjoy themselves. In order to collect enough money and get the truly cool items in the game, players have to do tons and tons of farming. I played Guild Wars for a while but stopped because it got to the point where it felt more like work than anything else.
- Koskun, on 11/20/2007, -1/+8Sorry for the break, but I think every single comment that has appeared for the last year or so on digg has just shown up in this exchange.
I vote that all future comments from digg need to be chosen from this and that is all that is allowed. - DontThinkSo, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6[Suggestion to STFU!]
- jthg, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6Heh, 200 hours... I've met plenty of people in WoW who have spent 200 days playing the game (day as in 24 hours). The game conveniently keeps track of the total for you. I myself "only" have about 20 days.
- tcpip4lyfe, on 11/20/2007, -0/+6I played Wow for a year and a half. I spent about 100 days total play time. It's a fun game but I lost contact with my friends. The only time I saw them was when they were playing WOW. I agree that the game is too awesome. When you are apart of a top guild on your server and you are REQUIRED to raid at certain times
- seitanism, on 11/20/2007, -2/+8If I wasn't playing I'd probably drink myself to death. I live in a pretty boring area. But... seriously. I can see why the game is addictive but I only log in when I'd probably already be at home with nothing else better to do than watch TV. People that turn down parties or any other fun to play this game probably need help.
- elementfire, on 11/20/2007, -0/+5[Riposte!]
- badjoke, on 11/20/2007, -2/+7Hacking in WoW is virtually nonexistent, meaning I've never heard of it but it's probably possible.
- inactive, on 11/20/2007, -0/+5go away Im bating
- NathanielJ, on 11/20/2007, -4/+9Throw in a splash of unawareness and you have Digg.
- mcberg182, on 11/20/2007, -0/+5Please die.
A painful death would be preferable. - Lasereth, on 11/20/2007, -1/+6200 hours? When I quit WoW, my warrior had 2,650 hours logged. That's just 1 character...Ugh what a waste of time
- xTRUMANx, on 11/20/2007, -3/+8Would that be a second life?
- inactive, on 11/20/2007, -2/+7One day all 7,000,000,000 players will be standing outside the gates of Tartarus, eagerly awaiting the end of the world...
...of WarCraft. - HerrEisenheim, on 11/20/2007, -6/+11Too much to do? You do the same thing the entire game.
- Shirleycakes, on 11/20/2007, -0/+4You're apparently worse off than people addicted to cocaine. That's what I learned from this article's comments.
- Tserk, on 11/20/2007, -0/+4No one will play WoW when Starcraft 2 comes out? That's easily the most laughable comment that will appear in this thread. Your admission of ignorance is the icing on the cake. You can now go diaf, kthxbai.
- slipkn0tz23, on 11/20/2007, -3/+7You just refered to WoW players as losers, on Digg. You've just made hundreds of enemies.
Rookie mistake. - spyrochaete, on 11/20/2007, -0/+4Uh, Guild Wars is the one MMOG where elite loot and leveling up aren't a big deal. The level cap is low and the best loot is one tiny percentage point better than average gear.
- hockey, on 11/20/2007, -0/+4Yeah but for some reason that game just stuck. The same 4 stages, same static non changing content but for some reason I had a group I met and we'd get together and just go hack and slash for hours on end. . . in other words we had fun.
Isn't that the point. - inactive, on 11/20/2007, -1/+5what, u mean the average time idiots spend infront of the tv ?, take a reality check u *****.
- Shuk, on 11/20/2007, -2/+6The reason for why WoW is addicting is because it rewards you in bits and pieces. Each goal is within reach, and the payoff is the power to explore new areas and combat new enemies. There is a huge progression system with a world of content. It wouldn't be addicting if you had to play for 100+ hours, for the goal of slaying the dragon. It's just that one nicer sword that you want to get, that one extra level, that one extra ability.
- hackop, on 11/20/2007, -1/+5Personally, I hate parties. I can't stand being around people. Just part of being an introvert I guess. Though, at least with video games you're interacting with something. Watching TV, sports, movies, is just sitting and turning your brain off.

What is Digg?
