When you get a new computer, all your games are right there, ready to be downloaded and installed on the new machine. There doesn't seem to be any sort of invasive DRM-style nonsense and you can even take all your games "offline" and play them without being connected to the internet, if you prefer.

Second, if you really must you can e-mail valve a few times and they'll send you the CD-Key, and finally, if you look really hard, you can find the CD-Key yourself in your registry.
Failing all that, Valve has stated that for any reason they have to shut down the steam service, they will unlock all games you've purchased.
Besides, Valve has made some of the best games of all time, and will continue to for the foreseeable future, if you can't trust them, then you're not into PC games. - shikaga, on 07/26/2008, -1/+15$27.49 here in the UK
