- wild, on 02/13/2008, -0/+92My army of Care Bears is going to crush everything.
- yohnstoppable, on 02/13/2008, -0/+55I fully plan on making the most disgustingly perverted creature I can possibly conceive of, then being shocked by the much sicker ***** I find online.
- SirFragsMore, on 02/13/2008, -0/+48He who controls the Spice controls the Spore!
- Goodanswer, on 02/13/2008, -2/+43I finally get to fight with XENU!
- NCSUspoon, on 02/13/2008, -1/+38Oh, I will have to get a new computer now.
- MindTrigger, on 02/13/2008, -0/+30I can't wait to see how all the procedural programming in this game turns out. They are working on a lot of new (to gaming) programming concepts that might help lower art (textures, models) and music production costs of future games, and get them to market faster and much cheaper. These concepts will also make it easier for solo and small game developers to compete with the giant game corps again.
Oh yeah, and I'm stoked to play it too :) - devolved, on 02/13/2008, -2/+30The Care Bears are the least of my worries. The first time a strangely phallic looking creature shows up in your world, it'll be funny. The seventieth time, not so much.
- 1gunners4, on 02/13/2008, -1/+26They've taunted us with this concept long enough! Time to deliver!
- wild, on 02/13/2008, -0/+20Oh freezervv, the internet will care all right. When Funshine and Grumpy show up to eat your Spice preserves while you're out fishing, you'll care.
- inactive, on 02/13/2008, -0/+20 Pentium 4 2GHz CPU or equivalent.
1024Mb RAM.
128Mb video card with Direct3D support. - nottidredd, on 02/13/2008, -2/+19Doubt it. This game should run on a Wii. If you have some ram and a alright video card you should be safe.
- Smills, on 02/13/2008, -0/+16Wow, no-one needs a new computer for that...
- RunnyBabbit, on 02/13/2008, -3/+18I finally get to fight as XENU!
- AndrewDB, on 02/13/2008, -1/+16I think we should to a Care Bears VS carnivorous My Little Ponys battle.
- bhattsan, on 02/13/2008, -0/+14and there goes the infamous goatsellius....
- Orderless, on 02/13/2008, -0/+13If those are the requirements, expect to need a Core 2 Duo 2GHz or equivalent, 2048 Mb RAM, and a 256Mb GeForce 7900/Radeon x1900.
- ImpoliteAndEvil, on 04/06/2009, -0/+11I'm looking forward to this game, but this article is nothing but a tease. He takes notes for four hours and that's all he's gonna write? Lame.
- PearlJammzz, on 02/13/2008, -2/+13This is going to go one of two ways:
1. I play it for a few hours one day, create a basic animal/being and shortly get bored as it's the same thing over and over, they just grow more and more complex.
2. I start it, next thing I know i've been playing a week straight and I have a new species dominating cyber space w/ it's 1337 abilities.
Either way, I'm excited :) - 1jaxstate1, on 02/13/2008, -1/+11Man, nothing like over-hyping a game, so people can nitpick at it to find flaws. Just sit back and let the game be released, and they enjoy. I know I will.
- Lionhart, on 02/13/2008, -1/+11Good for you. Did you want Digg to collectively stroke your e-penis?
- KMartSheriff, on 02/13/2008, -2/+12I'm going to start spelling XENU! like that in everything. Why? Because saying XENU! is more exciting and XENU! would be pleased.
- Exhaust, on 02/13/2008, -0/+9Exactly. The procedural programming concepts this game pioneers if successful could have far more impact on the industry than just being a revolutionary "ultimate god game".
- stereoa, on 02/13/2008, -0/+9I believe there is a system in place for this already. It's either an algoritihim or the ability to report creatures that disgust you more than others. I read this somewhere.
- Webler707, on 02/13/2008, -0/+8Is that supposed to be really good or something? Because I am not that impressed.
- SIRBERUS, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6You're forgetting #3...
3. Pissing you off when your universe starts getting polluted with buildings advertising Viagra, and creatures shaped like pills.
Seriously, I'm curious what kind of filtering will take place to make sure some douche doesn't create creatures in the shapes of logos. - BenKenobi88, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Uh...Spore doesn't do that so much. You just need a certain amount of attractions like military power, religiousness, or money to take over others...nothing more specific than that.
And you can't make pinatas in Viva Pinata...you can't design their houses or non-existent vehicles. - Skahara, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6I don't like World of Warcraft.
- chrismgtis, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6I guess I will digg this for a Dune reference.
- themarq, on 02/13/2008, -1/+6I was thinking the same thing, and I am happy to do it, but I havn't been able to find the System Reqs for Spore yet. If anyone could post a link to them I would appreciate it.
- Craga89, on 02/13/2008, -4/+9Yeah system specifications would be nice. Hopefully they aren't too steep, but judging from the screen shots it doesn't seem too graphically intensive.
On another note, here's hoping it works well under WINE. Can't imagine going back to dual booting Windows after so long. - zengonzo, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5I still don't understand why there was such a sentiment about that it would be vapourware. Like they don't remember a time when games were actually complex ..
- nottidredd, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5The space bits remind me of Master of Orion.
- LordVance, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5Indeed; the student and independent developers in particular are very interested in getting our hands on that technology to use in our own products.
- Philbert, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5I really don't think so. Since everything is procedurally generated it really shouldn't be very intense at all, even if there's a lot going on on-screen at once.
- Darkness123, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4I am hoping you are correct IAmLegend24 because then my computer can ran it, if not I am upgrading it (as soon I play it on a friends computer too see if I like it or not)
- Vostok, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5So many puny creatures will bow to my awesome will!!!! and I'm going to build a kickass spaceship.
- Alfonzo, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4I think so. Hell yes I want to develop a single-cell organism all the way into a space-faring society that assimilates other planets like the Borg . . . sounds like a fun game to me!
- Hazed2008, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5Im not seeing much of a connection between Viva Pinata and Spore. While Viva was a fun game i don't think it was near as in depth and broad as Spore is going to be.
- LogicBomB, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Care Bears with a scorpion/spider's body seems even better.
- shakbhaji, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5I was happy to see /Mac in the heading.
- nanboya, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Agreed. Compared to the initial screens, it's much more cartoony and looks watered down.
- Smills, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5I have to say, I don't really understand why you posted those specs... Every friend I currently have (3 friends! I can barely even count that high!) has a better computer than that. Did you get it at an insanely low price or something?
- Lionhart, on 02/13/2008, -3/+7That's what they said about World of Warcraft.
- BenKenobi88, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5I'd like to see how they stand up to my colony of Yoshis. Carnivorous Yoshis.
- omnithought, on 02/13/2008, -1/+5drool....
- zengonzo, on 02/13/2008, -1/+4What if we just don't agree with your assessment?
- ComradeGoby, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3The Spice Must Flow!
I'm sure many other people had that sporing immediately to mind when the article was talking about the spice harvesting. - RadicalEdward, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3From what i've heard it's being "ported" to the wii, i'm willing to be you however much money you want that it'll look much better on a high end computer than the wii.
- wilcox1010, on 02/13/2008, -1/+4It changed it's looks quite a bit from the beginning. I rather the less cartoonish spore.
- canthraxp, on 02/13/2008, -0/+3So I won't be able to do my Vageyenaman army?
