- afractus, on 03/26/2009, -1/+57Really 600px wide? Really? I better bring out my 13 inch CRT
- linuxpenguin, on 03/26/2009, -3/+58Before anyone asks - yes, apparently it *can* run Crysis.
- camaroz06, on 03/26/2009, -2/+39I am going to say Crysis on my PC looks much better, but then again the quality of the video sucked.
Still going to say it:
console graphics < PC graphics - dasdef, on 03/26/2009, -0/+34crysis in a city? that would be so awesome.
- KayinAngel, on 03/26/2009, -0/+32i thought the same thing. i think its mostly just a rebuild of CryEngine 2 that can run on consoles.
- Joest23, on 03/26/2009, -1/+27I don't see much difference. It still looks stunning, sure. But I don't think there's enough visible difference to truly justify calling it CryEngine3.
- jrussmlr, on 03/26/2009, -2/+28Not impressed, we've had these graphics on PC for about a year and a half.
- whoreable, on 03/26/2009, -7/+31Yep jizzed in my pants. Suck it Unreal Engine.
- jgtg32a, on 03/26/2009, -0/+22Some sort of tournament?
- zaferk, on 03/26/2009, -0/+21It wont play on your mac
- Joest23, on 03/26/2009, -1/+20So why not just call it something like CryEngine2.5? Epic does that with the Unreal Engine and it works fine. If all that's really changed is console support, than I honestly don't believe that it justifies calling it CryEngine3.
- DeathRay2K, on 03/26/2009, -1/+14Graphics aren't the only thing an engine is responsible for. This engine is a quantam leap ahead of CryEngine 2, it had to be, to support consoles.
- moo2u2, on 03/26/2009, -0/+13lol yes, Live
woohoo, now I can pay extra just to play on the net - NuclearFriend, on 03/26/2009, -0/+11It's their engine and they can call it whatever they like...
- mourne, on 03/26/2009, -0/+11The first game I played that had bump mapping was Drakan in 1999...
Damn kids and their halo. - SteveMax, on 03/26/2009, -0/+10Lag on a single-player game? No, thanks.
- JDiZZle300Z, on 03/26/2009, -0/+9Far Cry 2 was not made in the CryEngine at all. Dunia engine.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunia_Engine - 2Bnor2B, on 03/26/2009, -2/+11My fear is that someone will offer me the red pill and I will discover that reality is really running on a CryEngine platform.
- Brasolis, on 03/26/2009, -2/+11"Remember, this is an engine that can now run across PC, 360 and PS3, not just the PC, so it's not going to be some quantum leap beyond Crysis-type visuals."
Congratulations to those who appear to have difficulty in the reading department. - inactive, on 03/26/2009, -1/+10How do we rid the world of fanboys?
- BedPost, on 03/26/2009, -2/+10Well duh. I own both a 360 and a very high end PC - I game on both of them. No one buys a console to get the best graphics - they buy a console (at least the smart ones, fanboys can suck an egg) to get reasonable, long-lasting* graphics (and the occasional exclusive game) at a decent price. It also allows you to use your existing TV, sit on your favorite couch/chair, and have the ability for some social gaming.
*When I say long-lasting, I mean that on average, a console will come out, run the latest and greatest games at the highest possible settings, and as it progresses through its life, will run the games better than a comparable computer. Go ahead - try and run GoW on a Core 2 Duo 3.2ghz, Radeon X1950XT, and 512mb ram. It's not going to be as pretty as the 360 version - and that came out in 2006. If you want an exercise in masochism, try running GTA4 on this config - it'll cry.
It's just the nature of consoles - due to a standard architecture, they get serious optimization compared to PCs. Still, about halfway through the lifespan, and especially nearing the end, a decent computer will knock the socks off a console. Of course, at this point, most of the consoles cost around $200 - good luck building a equivalent computer for that price. - Joest23, on 03/26/2009, -1/+9Kill them with fire!
- diggnationfan87, on 03/26/2009, -0/+7http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47150.html
- LordBacon, on 03/26/2009, -0/+7Better than real life ;)
- BugMeNot2, on 03/26/2009, -0/+7Crysis did have waterfalls. Multiple waterfalls, actually. You had to explore the levels to find most of them.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -0/+7It seems like a misnomer to bill it as a completely new engine since its just Cryengine 2 with some software and performance optimizations. Looks pretty though.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -3/+9meh. I love how they plastered 'REALTIME' on all the scenes. Ooooo, realtime lighting and bump mapping - how 2002.
- beatitlikeacop, on 03/26/2009, -1/+7The visuals aren't very impressive...
- zaferk, on 03/26/2009, -0/+6whoops, forget to mention linux
butt buuutttt...its open sauuuuuce :**( - Narishma, on 03/26/2009, -3/+9I don't remember Crysis even having waterfalls so I don't know how you can compare them.
- Shazbuckle, on 03/26/2009, -1/+7It's got lower graphics settings.
Dosen't look NEAR as good as it could on PC - disasterpiece, on 03/26/2009, -0/+6Awful quality - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u85sf_ARiW0&fea ... (Watch in HD)
- acdcfanbill, on 03/26/2009, -0/+6jesus, the aliasing is awful...
- Haxorstatus, on 03/26/2009, -3/+8Weak. PC > xbox + ps3. improve the damn engine! Who cares if it can run on consoles that will be gone in a couple years!
- nullx42, on 03/26/2009, -1/+6lol look at me, I'm kool. lol I go to parties and have no real defining interests that make me who I am other than countless "that's what she said" jokes and beer games lol. ***** was so cash.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -1/+6at least unreal engine works...
- LiquidIse, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5TYVM. 720p > 240i
- divinediva, on 03/26/2009, -1/+6It is scalable.
- Iwantawii, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5The part at 1:40 is copied DIRECTLY from Super Monkey Ball.
- moo2u2, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4Fry, this isn't TV. It's real life. Can't you tell the difference?
- mourne, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4Considering that anything 10ms or above is extremely noticeable lag, good luck. Even 1 network hop will not grant you better then 10ms. Across the internet? laughable.
- moo2u2, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4I've heard it does run in Wine, just may have to tweak a few settings
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=a ... - MrFurious2k, on 03/26/2009, -1/+4It's an amazing engine with a really poor game attached to it. Too bad both the multiplayer and the single player game leave so much to be desired (OMFG Alien mountain level). I say that as a Crysis fan. :(
- mmockett, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3@jgtg32a - don't you remember the rocky walls in Halo 1 the first time you land on Halo? You know, just after you cross over the bridge after crashing... Joymemory.
- GlennJimerson, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3I'd be pretty glad to see Crysis on the 360.
- nullx42, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3I'd rather it run on an ID engine so then when they open source it, I can modify it to where I can travel time.
- Vivifyer, on 03/27/2009, -1/+3looks exactly the same as cryengine 2 did on pc, actually probably worse. given the massive improvment of cryengine 2 over the first one.. i expected alot more.
- eastsoccer19, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2Yes we have but have we been able to play anything with those graphics at anything more than 6 fps. Unless you have a $10000 supercomputer, I think not.
and yes the price was an exaggeration. - ssnake937, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2I can't wait to see how the new graphics react to the power that that modern PCs have.
I will admit that those graphics are nice for a PS3, but think about a beast computer! - jgtg32a, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Don't worry they took the last one and cut off its legs
