- Pramma, on 11/19/2008, -5/+49Hm. Weird. They went straight from Deus Ex to Deus Ex 3?
*Someone chimes in*: There was a Deus Ex 2! It was called Deus Ex: Invisible War! And there was even a spiritual intermediate called Project Snowblind!
Me: I have no idea what you're talking about. They just went straight from Deus Ex to Deus Ex 3 as far as *I* can tell... - cease, on 11/18/2008, -0/+38Deus Ex was a fantastic game, and I'm hoping that this one will not disappoint. At least the art direction looks promising so far.
- plur, on 11/19/2008, -0/+28Well, it was an *Invisible* War after all...
- mdaize, on 11/19/2008, -1/+21For the love of god, don't ***** it up.....
- punkisnotdead, on 11/18/2008, -0/+202009 could see a return of the Cyberpunk genre in a big way. Between this game, the film adaptation of Neuromancer, and a couple of other projects, us Sci-fi freaks have lots to look forward to.
- blitzkriegpunk, on 11/18/2008, -0/+17I STILL play that game from time to time. Especially with the updated hires textures. Such a deep story line. :(
WANT. - samscomputer2, on 11/19/2008, -0/+15nerdgasm
- SemiSarcastic, on 11/19/2008, -0/+14Duke Nukem Forever: We're totally serious this time!
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+12deus ex 3 and duke nukem forever in 2009?
HELL YEA! - SemiSarcastic, on 11/19/2008, -0/+11I'm going to go out on a limb here and just assume that no matter how this game turns out a lot of people are still going to hate it.
- nmanguy, on 11/19/2008, -0/+11You know, if they remake of Deus Ex 1 that plays exactly the same, but maybe Bioelectric Energy regenerates, as well as using modern graphics, it would sell a cubic *****. Hell, I'd get it for the PC at least, maybe buy the 360 version as gift for my console-owning friends.
- Nidy1, on 11/19/2008, -0/+10Really. It's possible to like the Deux Ex and Invisible War. They both had their strengths. Invisible War had a really cool physics system and weapons. The storyline wasn't half bad either. I don't get what the big issue is. It didn't have the same feeling as Deus Ex, but it was good.
- misternils, on 11/19/2008, -2/+12The problem wasn't necessarily that deus ex 2 was a bad game, it was that it was dumbed down in all the areas that made the first game such a good game.
- coldfire201, on 11/19/2008, -1/+8Deus Ex is the amazing and this actually shows promise, especially since many were disappointed with the second.
- bluetytanium, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5Dammit, now I have to reinstall.
- JoeBeardie, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5Deus Ex 2 was still a good game it just had absolutely nothing on the first game. It even had some nice improvements, unfortunately they decided to change everything that made the first game brilliant.
- benroy, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Amen.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4I loved the first game. Hope this turns out well!
- i4detail, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4You know, I'm impressed that people can speak to how awful Invisible War was; I played if for about two hours, about 3/4 of that was watching load screens. "Here's your mission. Walk across town, through four load screens, grab something, and walk back through four load screens.
Um. No. - HorseloverFat8, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3I'd be more confident of this game not sucking if Warren Spector was involved.
- tgc1, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3I'm still waiting for a decent game of Shadowrun myself. I haven't seen anything on it since it was out for the Genesis. Awesome game.
- medicman55, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Seems to be that way with everything, these days.
- MeltingIce, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Hopefully by 2010 in-game graphics will look almost as good as that concept art
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3Meh. It's just concept art. Doesn't really mean anything. I've seen a few good looking trailers for Duke Nukem Forever too.
- chongli, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2There is still hope, my fellow Shadowrun fan. After many years of stifling neglect at the hands of Microsoft, the Shadowrun and MechWarrior franchises have been licensed by their father Jordan Weisman and his new company Smith & Tinker.
http://www.smithandtinker.com/news/ - JoeBeardie, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Probably, but there was a lot of good reasons to be annoyed at invisible war. Such as the only real similarity it had in gameplay to Deus Ex was that it was first person. (over exaggeration.. but not by much.
- Slackdragon, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Be glad the old game didn't have some dumbass draconian EA-style DRM on it. I mean, who needs to install a game more than 3 times?
- OBKenobi, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2They're trying to do Neuromancer again? That movie is the next Alien 3.
- Dr3w, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Dues Ex 3 not until 2010
- dsmx, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Well they took out all the stuff that the fans played deus ex for in the sequel. If they'd of called it something else then it wouldn't of been and issue.
- NuclearFriend, on 11/19/2008, -1/+3You fail at games.
- Nidy1, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1What did you all hate about it so much?
- OBKenobi, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1He did the last one and it sucked.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1it didn't feel anything like the first one.
- dsmx, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1If it was remade it would be dumbed down because that is what happens to all games these days.
- satanguy, on 11/28/2008, -0/+1@misternilsmisternils spot on, deus ex was good because of the deep storyline, multiple solutions to a problem approach, and the rpg features (imrpoving your abilities etc)
- JoeBeardie, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Modern games obviously are not intended to be classics, replayed constantly for years following... Either that or they assume we will never upgrade, format, or buy new computers.
- nmezib, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1Deus Ex WAS a fantastic game, I tried playing it again about a month ago... but the graphics were a bit long in the tooth for me. As for number 3 in the series, I smell open worldliness. Can't wait to see what the gameplay graphics would look like!
- jawmaster, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0I'm left wondering if Snow Crash will ever be made into a game.
Not a movie, because you simply can't fit that amount of complexity into 2 hours. But seriously, a Snow Crash game would kick ass. - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -3/+3part one was epic. part two was an abomination.... kinda like Highlander, or the Beastmaster movies...you just want to pretend part two never happened.
- zorful, on 11/23/2008, -0/+0Am I the only one that can't see the original post at Gamereactor?
- Darklogic, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0God, the urban scene is gorgeous. I really hope they return to the cyberpunk ethos of the original and avoid Invisible War-style FPS compromises. I'm glad it isn't too futuristic. As for that comment about the first picture being too similar to Blade Runner, quite frankly I don't mind if they fashion their game after one of the most beautiful (in a morbid sort of way) science fiction settings of all time.
- HamstaMan, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0Oh please let there be an completely open world, complex inventory system and a lot of cool cybernetic upgrades so that you actually have to consider which ones you wanna get. Oh, also throw in some character stats, sophisticated terminal hacking and customizable weapons, that would be awesome, kaay.
- Zodiachus, on 11/19/2008, -0/+0The sad thing is, I would probably buy it anyway :(
They probably know that they can dumb this down infinitely... replace the inventory system with an FPSlike limited set of weapons, the RPG elements with an "easier to use system!", and the storyline with lots of explosions, to attract the ADD crowd, and still have the hardcore fans buy it. Cursing themselves while reaching for the wallet, granted, but buying it all the same. Because if you're the only drugdealer in the neighborhood... AND you're holding their baby hostage at that.
Call it bleak, but it is what they did last time! - jlan, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1I read that too fast as "fuel comsumption" and thought the concept art was going to be of some new electric car concept.
- misternils, on 11/19/2008, -2/+2They are just going to design it for 5 different systems again, giving it the stupidest interface, dumbing down the plot and gameplay for mass audiences.
- CreeBoPeep, on 11/19/2008, -1/+0Meh
