- inactive, on 11/25/2009, -0/+25this game shall consume my life.
- Atom, on 11/25/2009, -2/+22As weve learned with countless other movie games, just because it was in the movie doesnt mean it should be shoehorned into the game. I think the Senator class would be incredible in a single player RPG, but how could it possibly work in an MMO?
As for droids, that would be a Race not a Class. Maybe a droid handler, that would be able to have droid pets would work as a class. But as you said, droids fill a number of different roles and shouldn't be limited to a certain class. Having them as an available race with a list of classes they could become would be much better option imo. - ladyleelee, on 11/24/2009, -6/+21Not happy to be honest, 2 more force classes are all well and good but where Is the Noble/Senator class which has been iconic throughout EVERY star wars film?
Where is the droid class, droids arent just background characters in Star Wars, two of them were VERY integral to the story, because they have personalities.
I certainly hope they rethink 8 pretty soon after release and get some more class - jakobmakob, on 11/25/2009, -3/+13Your math. It is flawed.
- HopeForTomorrow, on 11/25/2009, -0/+10I really hope this does better than Star Wars : Galaxies.
- sputnikv, on 11/25/2009, -5/+13i wish they would make kotor III... my god can you imagine? it could be like mass effect, but with lightsabers
- BroodofEvil, on 11/25/2009, -0/+8Oh boy, yes! Because every time I think of Star Wars the first thing that pops into my mind is galactic senators!
- kolding, on 11/24/2009, -1/+9That’s an interesting thought Winged. Does that mean Knight/Warrior are the tanks than? So basically support roles are force users and dps is non-force?
- Ragzouken, on 11/25/2009, -0/+7The Klingons were locked behind a stargate

(i knew ppl that took a week off to play Wotlk, lulz what a waste) - doomestic, on 11/25/2009, -0/+610% of the users of WoW is HUGE. If that happens this game would be a huge success.
- MuseMike, on 11/25/2009, -0/+5This game looks good, hopefully we get more footage soon!
- innocentsinner, on 11/25/2009, -1/+6They just released Dragon Age, and Mass Effect 2 comes out next year. Also, try doing some research on what they have planned for TOR.
- doomestic, on 11/25/2009, -0/+4Yea I wish it too...
- innocentsinner, on 11/25/2009, -0/+4Same way it does in the tabletop game: they'd have resources and party buffs, while also some of the smuggler-esque fire-from-cover abilities.
I don't like the idea of a droid class, though. You should definitely be able to build and personalize your own droid, however. - iDiggYa, on 11/25/2009, -0/+4They don't have the Magic Missile skill? WTF?!
- newerakb, on 11/25/2009, -1/+5"If you don't want to play a Jedi, why play a Star Wars game?"
Because if everyone is a Jedi, then it's not a Star Wars game anymore, its a Star Wars fanfic. Playing Jedi is a blast when it's a single player RPG or adventure game, but in an MMO, it's absurd for Jedi to be a readily available class.
Part of what makes the original trilogy better is that the Jedi are a rarity, a whisper, while all of the characters worth a damn are smugglers, soldiers, politicians, etc. The prequel trilogy, with all of its ZOMG JEDI EVERYWHERE mentality kills it, making the Jedi lose their shroud of mystery.
If Jedi is in an MMO, it needs to happen through a random event that the player has absolutely no control over. Much like SWG tried to do, though they botched it horribly with holocrons and making Jedi trigger on mastering different classes. It turned the game into a worthless grind and destroyed the economy.
I shudder to think of the day when BioWare has me in the forest killing space-wolves with a light-sabre for some farmer whose space-cows are dying. It's not Star Wars at that point. - kolding, on 11/25/2009, -0/+4"The Jedi are extinct, their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion."
Screw the Jedis. For what I understand they will only be support classes in this game.
Star Wars is about civil war in a huge universe, and big ass spaceships. - Zaggy111, on 11/25/2009, -9/+12No Klingons? WTF?!
- DrCyclops, on 11/25/2009, -1/+4@newerakb
That would be like a superhero game where you have to roll up a cop and hope for a random event to give you superpowers.
Jedi are the core of the Star Wars universe. They have capabilities that other people don't have and do things that other people can't do. They are, by default, the most powerful beings in the setting (at least potentially). That everyone would want to play one should be no surprise.
Part of the reason Galaxies failed was their senseless withholding of Jedi. If a Star Wars MMO wants to include classes other than Jedi, it needs to give people a reason to play them. Saying they should be restricted to an arbitrary metagame mechanic is a recipe for, well, failure. - MacroDaemon, on 11/25/2009, -5/+8I can't wait for over half the playerbase to be sith inquisitors, and the other half to be jedi knights.
- supersonicjim, on 11/27/2009, -0/+3Kryten: This is the inquisitor. He prunes away the wastrels, expunges the wretched, and deletes the worthless.
Rimmer: We're in big trouble. - Sraser, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3Instead of everyone complaining about how this is going to suck and "I wish I had KoToR III", maybe you should give Bioware the benefit of the doubt (it's not as if they haven't earned it.)
They have more writers for this title than any other of their games to date. And according to them, more content than the majority of their games put together. For all you know, this could possibly be the best thing to happen to the KoToR series. Yeah it's an MMO and yes the vast majority of MMOs suck, but that doesn't mean that there can be zero innovation and advancement within a genre. - Variability, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3I fear it...
- doomestic, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3I think Bioware is big enough today to multitask. Dragon Age is might fine for me. I thought it was much better than Mass Effect, perhaps even surpassing Baldur's Gate II...
- doomestic, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3I welcome it...
- newerakb, on 11/25/2009, -0/+3MMO's don't have to be all fetch quests. In fact, I point you to the last Star Wars MMO, SWG...I didn't do a single fetch quest in that game. When you have a skill-based game that isn't all about getting the best gear and the highest level, you can slow down a bit and enjoy the world. You can set up a shop in your house, hang out in the cantina, be the mayor of a player city, build houses and furniture, go hunting on other planets, etc.
If SWG hadn't had an attrocious combat system, it would have been incredible. I think you need to find a different breed of MMOs, hecubus. - DrCyclops, on 11/25/2009, -2/+4Galactic Senator. Yeah, that sounds like an experience worth $14.95 a month. If you don't want to play a Jedi, why play a Star Wars game?
"I guess I could be the badass warrior space-monk with superhuman powers. Then again, I could be the guy that shoots at things!" - AmazingAndrex, on 11/25/2009, -1/+3Wait for the expansion?
- newerakb, on 11/26/2009, -1/+3I guess we just disagree on principle. My argument is the following:
I think there should be a Star Wars MMO, and I think it should be somewhat faithful to the canon from the movies. In the movies, the Jedi are the most powerful beings in existence. They are stronger than storm troopers, than smugglers, than soldiers, than ANYONE. Put a Jedi against a non-Jedi in a 1-on-1 fight, and the Jedi wins every time.
See the problem? MMO's need multiple classes, and it's lame if they are ALL Jedi. So if you want multiple classes, and you want accurate Jedi, then your game is unfair and *****. So you can either make Jedi rare (SWG) or you can neuter them (SW:TOR). I prefer the former, you prefer the latter.
It certainly wasn't senseless for SWG to withhold Jedi, because the designers actually knew something about the Star Wars lore...namely, that there were almost no Jedi in the period the game takes place in. They're a rumor at best, so to have thousands of them running around in cities would be stupid.
"Jedi are the core of the Star Wars universe"
I disagree. They are certainly the core of both trilogies STORIES, but that doesn't make up the UNIVERSE. That's like saying the core of Middle Earth is Hobbits...which would be as grossly inaccurate as saying Jedi are the core of the Star Wars universe.
Want to be a Jedi? Play KOTOR. - darkened, on 11/25/2009, -0/+2And you will find Darkened the Sith Inquisitor right there with you.

- chiefbandit2200, on 11/29/2009, -0/+1I think i might actually roll a bounty hunter first. But yeah, im sure there will be way too many people playing jedi and inquisitors.
- ganymede2010, on 11/26/2009, -0/+1Droids are going to play an essential role in this game with all classes. Not just one class, Every class will have a droid companion to maximize his or her overall effectiveness.
- darkened, on 11/25/2009, -0/+1I got into WotLK beta back when I played WoW I couldn't even drive myself to get past like L73 which at that point I realized I was just done with that game and canceled my account.
