- Braingoo, on 01/07/2008, -0/+69Would be great for racing, and flight sims too but you can bet its out of my price range. Especially with the Alienware logo on it.
Pry the logo off and it drops in price by about $1000 - CrackyJSquirrel, on 01/07/2008, -0/+40Is Digg's duplicate checker broken or something? Or do people just ignore it?
- MrM1yagi, on 01/07/2008, -0/+33If you had one of these monitors, you would notice this is in the Top 10 already.
- plizard, on 01/07/2008, -7/+22oh damn, projected linux support in 2015
- freshyill, on 01/07/2008, -1/+13Um, it's big, but I'm just not that impressed. 2880x900? I mean, Apple's 30 inch cinema display does 2560 x1600. If Alienware wants to go big, *go big.* Don't give me a curved monitor with 900 pixels of vertical resolution and *tell* me it's big.
- izlander, on 01/07/2008, -0/+12Good point. Most businesses develop things so they can NOT sell them.
- Scorp888, on 01/07/2008, -2/+13*****..pics are in the article..so try rtfa..
- tnoy, on 01/07/2008, -2/+13It only has a resolution of 2880x900. I'd rather have the 2560x1600 from a 30" LCD. or 3840x1200 from a couple 24" LCDs.
Its going to be a crappy monitor for its price to be used outside of gaming. - trotskyist, on 01/07/2008, -0/+7My graphics card just cried a little.
- Guder, on 01/07/2008, -1/+7Its a freaking monitor. Its supported. Hell I'm sure its been supported for a while. Haven't you seen the number of Flight Sim fans with monster desktops?
- markperia, on 01/07/2008, -0/+6Shopped! Crysis is running at 42FPS! *****!
just kidding guys... - Dustmuffins, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6$1000 is $1000
- MikeonTV, on 01/07/2008, -4/+10Can someone show me what it looks like running an OS rather than a damn game?

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/alienware-curve ... - Zlorp, on 01/07/2008, -1/+6kinda cool, but wouldnt even support 1080p? psssh
- Efilnikufesin, on 01/07/2008, -0/+5At least there's hope, imagine if you were a broke high school dropout?
- adidax, on 01/07/2008, -0/+4Who wouldn't? That is an "Amazing Curved Monitor".
It would be cool if gizmodo had an article about that. That i could read. And digg. About 17 Hours ago. - ubergeek09, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4Well the highest settings on Crysis were not meant for the current generation of hardware. The very high settings are meant for future hardware, so that the game still looks good a few years or so down the road.
- Gizza, on 01/08/2008, -1/+5Should've made the vertical res 1200 rather than 900.
- Mononuclear, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3This story is already in the top10 right now...
- Efilnikufesin, on 01/07/2008, -3/+6Buried for misleading the public into thinking Crysis can be run on a computer.
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3dupe much?
- jesperhh, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4Eh, lame resolution, my dual monitor setup runs at 3200x1200. Only problem with that is that crosshair is split by the borders of the screens :(
- i4mt3hwin, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4http://www.digg.com/hardware/Check_This_Amazing_Cu ...
Can we repost more? Yesh plz. - thecheatah, on 01/07/2008, -1/+4i dont get it
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -0/+3I suggest taking the monitors apart and building a single housing for them.
- Shoebox639, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2awww, wraparound sounded like a monitor that wrapped ALL the way around the head for 360 view.
- BearinG, on 01/09/2008, -0/+2What took them so long.. I'm hoping for a 180 degree screen someday
- WindBelow, on 01/07/2008, -2/+4imagine wraparound porn on that thing...
- waspbr, on 01/07/2008, -2/+4It's news like that that make me feel great about being a broke college student... It's really great being reminded of the stuff you want but can't afford (yet?)
- Vector713, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Your bragging almost made me not notice how ignorant you are. :P
- JoeRW, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Rear projection DLP can do fast refresh rates without LED decay issues. I assume this means that this monitor will be able to provide a superb Stereo3d experience using 3dStereo shutterglasses. You need at least 120hz for this since the hz to each eye should be 60hz+ to stop ghosting.
The new DLP rear projection tvs coming out now are touting that they are 3d ready e.g. "http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/detail.d ..."
Samsung is also going to sell their 3d driver for PC separately which unlike NVidia's current offerring will support 8800gt+ SLI and all OS including 64 bit. "http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=767467" - Macko112, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2$1800 worth of video cards can't run Crysis flawlessly on max settings, yet you want to double the resolution...
- fixedcoma, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2I hope it helps with perephial view and not just bent to make it look like its got a perephial view!
- HappyScrappy, on 01/07/2008, -2/+4Duplicate and inaccurate. Alienware didn't say they were going to sell them.
- kazersoza, on 01/30/2008, -0/+1Wrap around PRON!!!!
- ours, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Bioshock was MADE for widescreen. Sure they added vertical bars for some reason but this has been discussed to death before.
- DCGaymer, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1You mean I have to take a step back from my current 3840x1024 res gaming?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dcgaymer/263132657/in ... - kiegh, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1This is the ultimate :) They use similar technology in the top Air Force training flight sims. Please make non-alienware versions and I'm sold.
- macbookpromat, on 01/07/2008, -2/+3And looks much better too...
- ubergeek09, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1I can play Crysis at 1680 x 1050 at high settings and get a average framerate in the high 30s, it's quite playable. You just need to have a fast computer (correction, really fast :P) then make it faster by overclocking the crap out of everything.
- ubergeek09, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Like he said DLP > LCD for gaming.
- ubergeek09, on 01/10/2008, -0/+1Yeah, I don't care about their overpriced computers though. Real PC gamers build their computers. It's a lot cheaper and you make it unique. But anyway back on topic, I agree a vertical resolution of 900 pixels is bad.. They really need to change that.
- Vodd9, on 01/07/2008, -2/+3Every time I hear about some duplicate story, it turns out that it's the first time that I see it.
I HIGHLY suggest that you go spend some time outside. - mogebier, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1ZOMG!!!
I need to clear away some desk space..... - lpse2000, on 01/07/2008, -1/+2Now alienware is going in the right direction... away from making overpriced computers. Now I think they'll need to work on the resolution. I'm not sure that "x900" is going to cut it.
- badjokes, on 01/07/2008, -0/+1ugly.
the go-l mock-up was actually pretty cool looking http://www.go-l.com/home/new_monitors.jpg - technoticau, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2that's not much of a "wraparound"...
- Salanmon, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1[Sarcasm] tags can ruin the truely obivious ones
- inactive, on 01/07/2008, -1/+2Crysis.
- killer63, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1I HIGHLY suggest that you look at the right side of the front page.
