- MechaZain, on 11/07/2007, -2/+123If this is true, consider my social life over.
- Toast1185, on 10/23/2007, -3/+67Ughh. I don't want an MMO, I just want another KOTOR RPG
- drachemorder, on 10/31/2007, -3/+49You're not alone. I hate MMOs. I don't want more MMOs. I want more single-player RPGs. You know, the ones with an actual plot, not a bunch of gold farmers and script kiddies running around for no discernable reason.
- drachemorder, on 10/24/2007, -4/+41Agreed. I don't want a frickin' MMO, I want KOTOR3!
- Izacus, on 10/24/2007, -4/+39Oh man... I hope that's not true. Since then it means, we'll never see the (storyline) ending of KotOR saga.
- CerMakAlot, on 10/29/2007, -0/+31Yeah, it was awesome until SOE ***** it up?
- chronichyjinx, on 10/23/2007, -24/+53Digg me down all ya want, hell make it a dugg record. But I'll tell ya now, it's gonna be *****.
- sandwichkid45, on 10/23/2007, -3/+29i was hoping we'd get a kotor 3 for 360... guess i'm just one of those gamers that doesn't want to spend 6 hours a day on one game. but screw it-- i guess everything needs to be mmo, right?
- wild, on 10/23/2007, -1/+21If you're that excited about a SW MMO, you already don't have a social life.
(I kid) - ahintoflime, on 10/23/2007, -2/+22Holy *****. This could be the best game EVER.
- CaffeinePowered, on 10/26/2007, -4/+23Bioware is dead to me now, RIP, they made some amazing games, but EA will gut them just like they did Maxis and Westwood.
Can we please stop buying EA? - hockey, on 10/26/2007, -1/+20The debacle that was SWG was due to one reason and one reason only.
Sony Online Entertainment. - mike81890, on 10/23/2007, -3/+19I dugg you up just to spite you. Bastard.
- Araxen, on 10/27/2007, -0/+16Wow, you can really tell the stupid people comparing SWG to something BioWare is going to make.
SOE = ***** game company
Bioware = AAA+ Game company - ApokalypseNow, on 10/29/2007, -6/+21Might want to hold off on that - you remember what happened with Star Wars: Galaxies, yes?
- chrismgtis, on 10/23/2007, -0/+15SOE is not responsible for this title, therefore their idiotic antics will not effect this game.
- trunk8, on 10/23/2007, -2/+14MMO = No sale for me. I just wanted another KOTOR, not a reoccurring charge on my credit card. How exactly does the KOTOR story fit with an MMO anyway? Is everyone an amnesiac ex-Jedi who slowly regains their connection with the force? Great, sounds....totally boring.
- ozymandias2012, on 10/23/2007, -0/+12I enjoyed KOTOR I & II but I'm nervous about any MMO.....Star Wars Galaxies was such a great idea that ended up being a truly horrible game.
- hollowex, on 10/24/2007, -2/+13Way to lower the bar.
- WWWoody, on 10/26/2007, -0/+10That's the downfall of MMOs, killing Vader 40 times so you can get his sweet lightsaber of dex +5 just doesn't feel right.
- Tokkii, on 10/29/2007, -1/+10@Jigoro - Until everyone could be a jedi it wasn't that bad. I liked some of the ideas they had, they just couldn't implement them correctly. Given time and no pressure from a bunch of idiots who dreamed about being Luke Skywalker it could have been a good game (maybe). Once the fanboys started crying about those Force Sensitive slots, it was all over. I tried the trial a year or so after the switch. Within an hour I was chatting up Hans Solo and flying in the Millennium Falcon. WTF.
Maybe, within the time frame of the game, playing in time where you couldn't throw a small rock and not hit a Jedi will not cause the same sort of problems. - NeoCortex, on 10/23/2007, -0/+9I'm sure we'll eventually see enough sequels to at least bring KOTOR in line with the prequel trilogy.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -2/+11I must note here that I called this when absolutely no one believed it. Call me crazy but when I see that Bioware Austin has started development on a secret MMO and are not only hiring two of the bigwigs behind the original idea of SWG, but have job listings for license liasons, well I scream KOTOR MMO.
I've noted in many different places how Bioware's storytelling talent and general ability to make a great RPG combined with the vision that made the original version of SWG will make an unstoppable MMO monster. Everything wrong with SWG ultimately stemmed from it taking place in a universe where only two Jedi remained and the outcome had been set in stone 20 years earlier. The KOTOR universe has no such limits and so anyone can be a Jedi if they want to and it not tear the fabric of the game's logic apart like it did with SWG.
As long as EA doesn't stick its tendrils in, this will be epic. - Xondar, on 10/23/2007, -1/+10Suck it atheists! This is proof that there is a god! :D
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -0/+9Whatever happens, do NOT let Sony touch the KOTOR MMO. Or else you'll be getting a message about New Gaming Enhancements (NGE) and the next day you'll be playing a ***** Quake clone.
- Aiwanei, on 10/29/2007, -1/+10Where have you been? This was like the biggest news in the gaming world last week.
- AwesomeMonster, on 11/06/2007, -6/+14aw *****. So i guess EA is controlling Bioware and we are going to se sequel after sequel.
- markperia, on 10/23/2007, -2/+10you only have one pair?
- Tokkii, on 10/23/2007, -0/+8Buried for not actually knowing anything about KOTOR.
- DreKor, on 10/23/2007, -2/+9Well, Galaxies used to be awesome. Then, SOE decided to see how bad they could make a game before consumers stopped paying for it.
- Nossie, on 10/23/2007, -0/+7and EA are better how?
- Ezxen, on 10/23/2007, -0/+7Its director did KOTOR I and Baulders gate I &II so logic only says that this game will be the best MMO ever then again Georg Lucus created the original starwars and also the dreaded sequels
- ThePags, on 10/23/2007, -0/+7well the rumor of this has been out for months so i doubt ea has anything to do with this.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/29/2007, -0/+7My mind rejected the news. I was aware, I purposely forgot.
- thegetawayplan9, on 10/23/2007, -2/+8It was good for at least a year.
- hockey, on 10/22/2007, -0/+6If this is true then at least this means we can actually have player Jedi while maintaining some sense of continuity. . .
*cough* Star Wars Galaxies *cough*
Oh and to address earlier concerns. As long as this game isn't made by Sony Online Entertainment it's got a chance. I'll never pick up a game from that sorry excuse for a game development company again. - EmperorAwesome, on 10/23/2007, -0/+64,000
- Urusai, on 10/23/2007, -1/+7All MMORPGs blow donkeys. The game mechanics are simplistic, the stories are lame, and ultimately they expose the vacuity of killing a thousand monsters simply so you can level up and kill slightly more powerful monsters.
- gr0ss, on 10/23/2007, -0/+5It's still Bioware.
- Tokkii, on 10/22/2007, -0/+5What were your problems with KOTOR as a RPG? Seriously. Assuming this isn't a troll.
I can fathom a universe where a RPG player thinks KOTOR sucks, but I just can't figure out why. - FlamingWombat, on 10/23/2007, -0/+5Look at it this way: It won't need an ending, so it can't fail like KotOR II did
- tuxidomasx, on 10/22/2007, -0/+5Yea, but although each successive game will be run on essentially the same engine as the prior game, it will have updated player stats...
- skipdog172, on 10/23/2007, -3/+8Yeah, Bioware always makes crappy games.
- Hattrix22, on 10/22/2007, -0/+5Can't be any worse
- totorototoro, on 10/23/2007, -0/+5Ugh. Just hope this doesn't mean a new single player KOTOR is not coming.
- Deaconstructed, on 10/23/2007, -0/+5KOTOR II was by OBSIDIAN entertainment, a lil brother company of BioWare but NOT by BioWare ;)
- EzarKun, on 10/24/2007, -0/+4I dont have a social life to begin with, so its OK.
- chrillen, on 10/23/2007, -0/+4Oh god yes.
- Deaconstructed, on 10/22/2007, -0/+4To the people crying "I kon't want Kotror 3 MMO, I want Kotor 3!" ... "Tknights of the Old Republic" is an ERA in the Star Wars universe. A time period. Which the MMO is set in. They could very well have a single player KOTOR3 at some point in the future but for now just be happy a new STAR WARS mmorpg is in development which could actually do the universe some justice.
For more info on the BioWare MMORPG Facts I have gathered with the help of a few others go to: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/15138 ... - EzarKun, on 10/23/2007, -1/+5yea man, I dont like MMOs for some reason, too much focus on leveling up. Its the only ***** this to dos
