- cuecat, on 07/03/2009, -0/+47One thing missing from the review, max player limit per map is 16 (8 per side).
- cuecat, on 07/03/2009, -2/+4416 person limit maps take much of the fun out of it. If it was like 32 or 64, it would be much more fun.
- SkilledPrestO, on 07/03/2009, -5/+46It just doesn't seem as fun as BF1942 or BF2 were.
- kevisazombie, on 07/03/2009, -7/+32Great game been playing it for months now in beta. Spot on review.
- thegamingguy, on 07/03/2009, -3/+27 I wish this was also on consoles too... and at that price.
- oscarmanutdfan, on 07/04/2009, -11/+34Horrible game, laggy as hell also for us Australians but the gameplay isn't up to scratch anyway.
I'd take Team Fortress 2 for $5 more any day of the week. - AndrewDB, on 07/04/2009, -3/+24I don't mind the game so much, I've been in it since beta, and yeah, it's a lot of fun..
For about 30 minutes.
Then the maps just start to get repetitive, and boring. :( - cuecat, on 07/03/2009, -6/+24If only you had played the game before forming an opinion on it.
"the BEST items in the game is with your credit card."
False, both going by the article and playing the game. - Toiletbowl, on 07/04/2009, -6/+24I thought I was the only one, free or not this game is crap. I would rather pay the $8 and get BF2, or $10 and get TF2...
- th3heretic, on 07/04/2009, -2/+15TF2 is better.
- inactive, on 07/03/2009, -7/+19I wish there were more games like this.
And its ten times better than a lot of the other paid-for console games I have. - LoneWolf01, on 07/04/2009, -1/+13I was in the beta, it was fun for 10 or so rounds, then it got repetitive, different people every 5 minutes or so, so you couldn't keep a good group of people around.
Overall, worth more than I payed for, but I'm probably not going to keep playing it. - rocknog, on 07/04/2009, -1/+11You're an idiot. Aside from the ability to buy an item which increases the rate at which you gain XP, all money really gives you access to is better outfits and taunts, neither of which affect the game at all.
- christianboutin, on 07/04/2009, -1/+10The battlefund system is ridiculous. I got 200 points reward because I was in the beta. With that awesome amount of points I can "rent" a sombrero for 30 days. Wow! It'll cost you like 20$ to customize a character permanently. Not so cool. Thankfully that's not required to play, and new weapons are earned through VPs instead of battlefunds. So still thumbs up.
- Troyjinman, on 07/03/2009, -7/+14Top notch FREE game! Beta has been great, can't wait for some more/new players!
- rewritable, on 07/04/2009, -0/+6The jets in BF2 were too fast for the maps even with the red areas being accessible by the jets. El Alamein was my favorite dog fighting map because was so huge, it took like 5 minutes to fly from one end to the other. In BF2 I have to constantly fly in circles to prevent going off the maps.
- DouglasQ, on 07/04/2009, -0/+6People who like a certain videogame are the most bizarre group of people to have such animosity towards.
- craeyon, on 07/04/2009, -1/+7This is not a copy of TF2
- Crimsoneer, on 07/04/2009, -0/+6They don't want to impress you.
- Tyrghast, on 07/04/2009, -1/+6BF1942 had epic dogfights and greatness, all the Battlefields afterwards have yet to achieve to same.
- LoveAndSeagulls, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4RTFA
- choopie911, on 07/04/2009, -3/+7A free download on live arcade would be amazing. You need a keyboard to play it though, since you have perks/ add ons that you bind to your number keys.
- Super6, on 07/04/2009, -0/+4Because the slow-moving planes of WWII are much better suited to the level sizes of an infantry game.
- Vodd9, on 07/04/2009, -0/+3Class-based gameplay, control points capture...
- nonymous666, on 07/05/2009, -0/+3I was a die hard BF1942 and BF2 fan in the past. I think I was actually 'addicted' to BF1942 for a while; it's all I played for months. I *still* have BF2 installed and probably put in an hour a week.
So I had zero interest in this game. Absolutely zero. The couple trailers I had seen of it in the past completely turned me off to the game.
But out of curiosity, I tried it last this past week when it was 'released' to the public (I couldn't help myself; I *had* to know). And I have to admit I'm liking it. Yeah, it's not perfect, but the more I play, the more depth I'm finding in it with what you can do with the various upgrades that become available, how exactly to use the various weapons such as which work better at different ranges, etc. Very nice game. - BBoombastic, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2It's a lot harder to kill something with a tank in bfh than in any other bf title. There's no machine gun, it takes at least 3 hits to kill infantry, and every class has some sort of anti-tank weapon.
- Th3Wh1teRabb1t, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2oh really? I didnt know that BF3 is still being made... cool!! i'll take a look at that, for some reason i thought it was cancelled...
- dafragsta, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2"those two similarities these have nothing in common"
Brain asplodes. - davidw00t, on 07/04/2009, -3/+5It's like the opposite of Sims 3...instead of paying a lot for the full game and even more for the extras, you get the full game for free and pay a little for the extras.
- Cirrius, on 07/04/2009, -2/+4Check out QuakeLive.com
- techdever, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2dayum, that's a lot of porn spam
- Super6, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2This is just a side project, BC2 is still coming, as is 1943 and BF3, we're about to get 3 classically styled BF games over the course of the next 2 years
- Sogui, on 07/04/2009, -1/+3"Everything else is paid for via XP, gained only through playtime and accomplishing missions, and while paying customers can get access to higher level weapons faster"
What?
All the weapons are available at lvl 1 and after playing for like 30 minutes you can afford any of them with your "valor points" that are completely free and are earned in-game. Only abilities/skills give higher levels an edge in this game, even then you can focus on the most important abilities early on so the higher levels only have a marginal advantage and usually get matchmaked into their own games anyway.
Otherwise I love it, it's a great "in-between" game and I don't feel like I'm missing anything by not shelling out $$$ to look like some SS commander. I'd definitely recommend it for the easy 1gb download and the whole "free" thing.
Also, PROTIP:
If you play solo, play a commando. If you're good at other shooters you'll be ridiculous at commando.
If you play with friends, all of you play soldiers. Get burning bullets and max combat medicine ASAP and cross-heal each other the whole game. Enjoy your new god-status. - zyklon, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2Exactly. It's all about chaos in Battlefield games. Chaos and making order out of that chaos.
- Philbert, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2While I'd love to have free PSN games I hate trying to play FPS's with a controller.
- bigern75, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Great game for the price. Been playing for 3-4 months, and im lovin it
- Sogui, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2For free, it's a great in-between game.
I've got 200+ hours on TF2 and I'm enjoying Battlefield Heroes right now. For $0 and 1gb it's ridiculously easy to start playing and passing the time. - holzp, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Sniping is very frustrating, it can take 4-5 shots to kill a gunner. and once you start shooting there is a bullet trail pointing right back at you. Unless you are amazingly far away (500M?) gunners and soldiers can hit you and you have only 1/3 of their health.
The bonus is there is almost no camper snipers in the game at all. - dOOBiEx213, on 07/04/2009, -0/+2Excellent seller, Good deal, Fast shipper!!! A++++ Will buy from again!!
- nonymous666, on 07/05/2009, -0/+2No, not true at all.
In BFH, the enemies tickets deplenish at a rate dependent on how many flags you control. You can see the rate at the top of the screen. i.e., if you control 2 flags, then it will show "2X" at the top. If you control 3 flags, it will show "3X".
So, If you get 1 kill when your team has 2 flags, then that kill counts as 2 kills (hence the '2x'). i.e., the enemy loses 2 tickets. If you get 1 kill when your team has 3 flags, then it counts as 3 kills (i.e., the enemy loses 3 tickets).
If a team has their act together and can get quick control of the flags and hold most of them, then a round of BFH will be over in just a couple minutes because the enemies tickets deplenish so quickly. - Philbert, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1I've been playing for a few months as well and I agree it's spot on, but the article mentioned stripping things out then charging for them. I haven't seen any of this at all. I see a full game that's free, but if you want to can pay extra for bonuses which do not affect the game play.
- nonymous666, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1Sorry, but I *have* seen the ticket count decrement by more than 1. All the time.
Go search the official forums. There's plenty of into on it.
From the "Newcomer Guide", admittedly vague....
"If your team hold more flags than the enemy, the enemy will lose more points (tickets) for every enemy Hero your team brings down."
http://www.battlefieldheroes.com/forum/showthread. ...
What the game *doesn't* do, unlike BF2 (or BF1942, or both? I forget), is continually 'bleed' tickets if one side has as some majority of flags, even if nobody's dying.
It's not a matter of just controlling the flags. You then have to go out and kill people to make the multiplier actually do something. - rdaryl, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1This game's pretty much to me a dumbed down version of Battlefield 2.
- allfatherblack, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1ALL weapons are available at level 1, period. I'm level 23. The only things you "unlock" at later levels are appearance items like clothing and accessories which can be bought with VP (earned in game). All items that can be bought with real money (aka BP) are available from the outset as well.
- inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+2this is like bf42 for retards. or 5 year olds. dont worry; it's been confirmed that bf3 is under development and will be out next year. ENEMY BOAT SPOTTED
- Super6, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1The good stuff doesn't come until level 10, what level are you? Level 10 had machine guns
- Sogui, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1What are you talking about?
All those alternative weapons are all available from the moment you make a character. - Hartley1942, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1Thats about every shooter nowadays.
- dOOBiEx213, on 07/04/2009, -1/+2You know, no one is FORCING you to play it...
- hawk0168, on 07/04/2009, -0/+1I've been trying to play since beta, but my backup video card won't handle the pixel shaders required. (my main fried)
If your computer can't handle BF 2142 then don't bother - it's the same game engine. -
