- jggube, on 12/10/2008, -5/+44WoW, the review's is a lot better quality than a lot of strictly gaming sites.
- AYOTTERIOT, on 12/11/2008, -2/+40"The days of epic, 12-hour, 40-man raids and sleepless nights spent retrying bosses over and over before watching your guild self implode into a spew of Ventrilo cursing and /gquits are long gone, and they don't seem to be coming back any time soon."
I miss those days.
60 was the best. - Eggzb, on 12/11/2008, -8/+33Heres a sum up:
If you like WoW, buy it. If not then dont.
Great review /s - BullHunter, on 12/10/2008, -4/+20But if I play this, when will I have time to Digg?
- Kerrigore, on 12/11/2008, -0/+14Agreed. It was quite comprehensive, and in my opinion, quite accurate as well.
If I had a bone to pick, it would be that for me, ALL the PvE content feels a lot easier this time around, not just the end-game Raids. I remember some of the 5-mans being at least a little bit challenging in the original and expansion, and even solo'ing you could sometimes run into trouble if you weren't careful. In WotLK, most of the time I feel like I can just waltz around slaughtering enemies without trying very hard.
Also, maybe it's just me, but the BoE (bind on equip) itemization seems sparser than previously, especially for Rares and Epics. Perhaps it's just due to high demand, but it seems like there aren't as many items out there to buy for your character with gold, which combined with the fact that the only new mount training is only 1000g (as opposed to 5000g for the previous expansion), could leave some sitting on a pile of gold without much to use it on (never a good thing in terms of keeping things playing, nor in terms of keeping a server's economy from becoming inflated). - phre3k187, on 12/11/2008, -3/+16http://i34.tinypic.com/67l3sy.jpg
- thatsgoodkarma, on 12/11/2008, -1/+14I remember hitting 60 for the first time and then going to UBRS. That was fun as hell. Wish I was still excited about the game like I was back then.
- inactive, on 12/11/2008, -6/+17They ruined the game with BC in my opinion. 1-60 was some of the best memories I have of the beginning of high school which sounds really ***** up. I have all sorts of hobbies outside of video games but that first addiction was amazing.
- whoaohh, on 12/11/2008, -1/+11I never thought I'd say that I miss when my guild would get raped by Onyxia over and over again, but I do.
This game was so awesome and then went downhill so fast when BC came out. - Tenareth, on 12/11/2008, -1/+11Yeah, those were the most fun times in the game. (Except the guilds imploding, I avoided the guilds without a good leader).
- dagr8tim, on 12/11/2008, -2/+11That's exactly why I like the new expansion. I perfer to solo, and this gives me the chance to be left alone and make some real gains in the game.
- pirategonzo, on 12/11/2008, -1/+9I was pretty excited to get the expansion. I got to level 71 and pretty much quit again. It was fun and fresh for the first level but now it just feels like the plain old grind and level.
- mrpants888, on 12/11/2008, -2/+10Digg hates WoW
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 12/11/2008, -1/+9> "What's the point of an MMO if you just want people to leave you alone? This game is boring as ***** without real friends."
Some of us can't handle a normal amount of human interaction. I am an extreme introvert. For me, even small talk is an effort that will likely leave me drained after a typical day at the office.
However, while I generally prefer to be left alone, I still find comfort in the fact that there are people around me.
That's why people like me don't find soloing in an MMOG to be boring at all. - Jeepinator, on 12/11/2008, -0/+8Hitting 60 was a huge deal on my first character. Hitting 70 just didn't have the same appeal and I know hitting 80 won't either. I don't know what it was about it but the original just seemed so much more epic.
- SimplySteller, on 12/11/2008, -6/+13waste of time and money
- Guitarhero10, on 12/11/2008, -0/+7The sad thing is that I am sitting like that.
- Jeepinator, on 12/11/2008, -1/+8I absolutely loved the original. I still visit Blackrock Mountain just for the nostalgic feeling occasionally. I play really casually now because I hate the new raid content. You just can't top 40 mans.
- mugicha, on 12/11/2008, -0/+6Life or WoW?
- inactive, on 12/11/2008, -0/+6You couldn't possibly be taking this just a tiny bit too seriously could you?
- MrZop, on 12/11/2008, -1/+7so, digg likes MrBabyMan Now?
Oh Digg, you fickle bitch, i can never keep up with you. - inactive, on 12/11/2008, -0/+6For real man it was so good.
- voodoochild461, on 12/11/2008, -1/+7Yeah, the 60's were great. The game has become a lot easier now and more accessible to the average player.
- wolfboyZ, on 12/11/2008, -3/+8***** that, I will never go back. Wasted a whole year of my life playing this routine.
- Kerrigore, on 12/11/2008, -0/+5Why should War4 have anything more to do with War3 than War3 did with War2? There has always been a huge leap in terms of Lore and new characters between Warcraft games.
How Blizzard will handle bringing out a new Warcraft RTS (assuming they ever do so) without killing WoW (assuming it's still alive at the time they want to) could be interesting though. I think it would be cool if they made simultaneous releases, with each telling different parts (or different perspectives on) the same story... or different stories but with overlap, or something along those lines. - houndeyex, on 12/11/2008, -3/+8What's the point of an MMO if you just want people to leave you alone? This game is boring as ***** without real friends.
- mugicha, on 12/11/2008, -0/+5It's a MASSIVE online world where you pay Chinese people for gold.
- Fyrezerk, on 12/11/2008, -3/+8World of Wastemytime
- Tenareth, on 12/11/2008, -2/+7Agreed... 40 man raids were so much fun and exciting. My son is sick of it too... was fun before BC, BC had a little coolness, but he said "almost everything can be solo'd now, and nobody groups up anymore".
Was a lot more fun before BC. But they pandered to the people complaining instead of the people PLAYING. - mugicha, on 12/11/2008, -1/+6I haven't played WoW for a while and never got up to 60, but I'm reading all these comments and I'm curious. What happened? Do people not do the 40 man raids anymore or did they get rid of them or something?
- Samohtneas, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4What do YOU think?
- JeddHampton, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4Why is he being buried? Is it because he insulted a girl?
He's right. It does sound like she was there between battles. - inactive, on 12/11/2008, -1/+5It never gets any better.
- swik, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4Yeah I absolutely LOVED the original WOW, TBC was fun up until near the end of the first arena season. Now I just level characters, the end game is horrible to me now. The odd thing is in original WOW I hated leveling with a passion and loved the end game.
It's just not my kind of game anymore, it's too simple and repetitive at the final level. - andrewlotta, on 12/11/2008, -2/+6I went cold turkey (WoW) a few months before this expansion came out.
I'm sure I'm not the only one. - inactive, on 12/11/2008, -1/+5"the leveling process from 61-80 will keep you occupied long enough to justify the purchase."
This alone makes the game a bad purchase. Of course, I've already played the game through 2 expansions. I know how it's devolved into a carrot on a stick for the unimaginative. - inactive, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4Exactly. It's not even about the gameplay, it's about the nostalgia. But I guess that makes me kind of worthless as far as developers are concerned.
- toxicityj, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4Why would the mount training cost more? All it does is permit you to fly with your already existing mount at the same speed in a new area...It's not like it increased by 50% like the regular to epic flying mount did.
- HolyChimp, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4Warhammer Online is great, but there just aren't enough people for the 'Massive' part of MMO. Shame. Really enjoyed the PVP.
- mugicha, on 12/11/2008, -0/+4Awesome! That's why Digg has different sections. So you can read about the stuff you like, and you don't have to read about the stuff you don't like. Get it?
- AYOTTERIOT, on 12/11/2008, -0/+3+1
- busybrain, on 12/11/2008, -0/+3You never catch the DRAGON!
- mugicha, on 12/11/2008, -0/+3But when you're leveling up a new character then when you get up near 60 isn't there a reason to still do them then? Or do people just keep grinding past on their way to 80 and not bother to stop and do the raids?
- mannymix03, on 12/11/2008, -11/+14Its great, I love the damn game
Much better than TBC and the lore brings me back to WCIII - Nistelrooy, on 12/11/2008, -0/+3I miss MC more than anything. I went there so many times there's so many funny memories.
- WernerCD, on 12/11/2008, -0/+3There don't seem to be many dropped blue's/epics, but the field of BOE crafted crap is 10x what it was.
I'm working on my GFs warrior, and she'll have atleast 8 epics crafte before she hits 80. None of em dropped, but all of em farmed for and made by friends and friends of friends.
As far as 'piles of gold'... sure there is only the 1k for Cold Weather Flying, but then you think of stuff like 8k for a Dalaran ring, 10k for a bear mount, 20k for a Mammoth... Gold is easier to come, easier to go. - Benjigga, on 12/11/2008, -1/+4It was awesome when all there was to do raiding wise was MC and Ony. On your offtime you'd raid Crossroads. THOSE were fun times.
- BobSutan, on 12/11/2008, -1/+4Is this latest expansion the last, or does Blizzard intend to sucker players into paying for the game yet again, plus monthly fees?
- PhattyPhattMatt, on 12/11/2008, -4/+7whats WoW?
- donkevin, on 12/11/2008, -0/+3There's no reason to do them anymore, as they're not difficult and there is no real reward for completing them (the items are way outdated). The level cap is 80. Shamans and Paladins can solo Onyxia now.
It's all 10-mans and 25-mans in the new expansion. -
